Because when Jean talks about It, he says very explicitely that Kevin had been a Moriyama ward his whole life, spending his summers at Evermore and then moving permanently once Kayleigh was "removed from the equation"

Those are the exact words he uses: "removed from the equation", which heavily implies he knows she was murdered.

If Jean knows, even though he only got to Evermore 7 years after Kayleigh's death, then Kevin most definitely knows It too.

Also, I dont think the little shit who liked to psychologically torture Kevin would lose the chance to taunt him with the real cause of his mother's death. ("We killed her to get to you. It was your fault. If only you had asked to come live with us like the Master told you to" or "You think you are too precious to be killed? Even Kayleigh couldnt scape It")

Henry a lot of the time feels like he is too much for people. The passion he feels is going to explode out of him and there isn't much he can do to stop others from being caught in the blast radius.

At the same time: he feels greedy. He needs the people around him to get even just a glimmer of what he is feeling--but because he feels like he is too much--he pushes them away before they can tell him off for being a bomb that can't stop going off. (A real bad attachment style affects most of his decisions.)

He used to suppress it, back when his Mom couldn't bother with his rambling (and when his Mom's boyfriends were over too often); but now that he is free from his childhood home, he can't stomach shoving down his passion. And all at the same time, he's deeply insecure about it. All those years of his Mother telling him that he could never be enough, and that his so-called love for books and photography could never fill the living void of a person he is. All at once he is too much and not enough. It terrifies him.
