ok so! since you arent familiar with sfh i will give an explanation of that first so you can have some context:

sfh is a korean horror show about an aspiring crime fiction writer (yoon jongwoo) who moves to seoul to start his new job as an intern at his university "friend"s company (the quotations are there bc the guy fucking sucks and is a manipulative condescending dick to jongwoo all the time) but due to an incident while getting into the city he no longer has enough money to afford a good place and ends up in what is probably the worst dormitory to ever exist bc not only is it filthy and cramped and just all around in a really bad state it also turns out to be home to a group of literal cannibal serial killers! yay! where the one who seems to be somewhat the leader of the pack (seo moonjo, a respectable seeming dentist who is actually a complete freak (very hannibal lecter tbqh) i say this both derogatorily and affectionately bc unfortunately i do adore him) immediately develops some sort of psychosexual obsession with jongwoo and decides to torment him into a psychotic break about it so they can be murder husbands together (im like. not even kidding. at all. moonjo wants him so bad its kinda pathetic) and thus begins jongwoo's absolutely miserable spiral into madness! between the residents tormenting him and his awful boss and insufferable coworker and his crumbling relationship and sanity poor jongwoo is having a very very very bad time.

(for the sake of my own sanity i am obligated to say that the toxic yaoi shenanigans in this show are not at all The Point Of The Story and if you'd like to know more about The Point i have a long ranty rambling spoiler filled mess talking about it in this post. ok cool)

alright so now that you know the basics of the story we can move on to the fic lol

so The Horror of Our Love is basically playing with the idea of moonjo as some sort of supernatural creature that latches on to jongwoo and drives him mad. im a huge fan of creature moonjo (especially as an It instead of a he bc i find it fun to use it/its as an it/he myself) i think its a lot of fun and wanted to take my turn playing in the sandbox lol. now this fic is... gonna be pretty fucked up bc i realized how much i miss writing horror and i wanna try it out again so this is Not going to be a pleasant time for our dear jongwoo but honestly nothing ever really is (poor guy)

now i dont have a whole lot of this fic figured out yet but i do know several things:

1. im going to slightly alter the incident that results in jongwoo ending up in the dormitory bc i want to somewhat separate him from the other residents outside of moonjo (tho i have not decided yet if i will remove them completely or not) so i can really isolate the two of them together

2. i want to keep it intentionally unclear What exactly moonjo is partly bc i really enjoy that kind of horror but also bc i dont want to box myself in to any specific mythology or lore and keep it so im free to make whatever rules i want about how It functions

3. i wanna play with loss of autonomy/control and possession or possession-adjacent topics. this is very much going to be horror and... quite possibly not well received by the fandom which is sad but i still want to write it

4. i want to play with perceptions of reality. its something thats done in the show that was really interesting to me and i wanna keep going with it. possibly something with dreams that turn out to not be dreams or be less dream than they were believed to be

5. despite the title this is not romantic. there will likely be sexual situations but i do not view their relationship as romantic and i want to stay true to that bc quite frankly i think its more interesting that way

6. corruption arc babeyyyyy lets goooooo!! i dont know what exactly the end result of this will be but you better believe im gonna twist this boy into something new by the time we get there

aaaand finally i do have to admit that the title is a song lmao this song bc i think it fits moonjo's side of their relationship
