Speaking with Vasilis van Gemert (Mirabeau)
The usability problem is a shared problem between designers and front-end developers. Important: Front-end developers have to know it's a co-operation and not a duel.
Accessibility is an opportunity! It's fun to be able to make everything accessible for everyone, and it's also why the internet is so unique.
Ideas:
Use ikea-like instructions for usability guidelines? With a list of necessary things and instructional guide.
Create a initiative set-up: You select keywords related to your project // specified to your development project, and get a generated checklist.
Now reading: The Usability of Usability Guidelines - a Proposal for Meta-Guidelines - by Stefan Cronholm (2009)
Guides are usually flat lists of unsorted guidelines
Often examples of good solutions aren't provided
You don't want to be too general, but be specific and show examples
Relevance is important, I will have to make sure developers can get as specific as possible for their project (e.g. categorizing to make sure a selection can be made)
Being able to see the connection with other guidelines would be great.

Note: He doesn't believe every front-end developer has to have all these skills, it's more about the insane amount of possibilities you have as a front-ender. There are a lot of specialties one may have.

By now, all good designers and developers realize the importance of usability for their work. Usable websites offer great user experiences, and great user experiences lead to happy customers. Delight and satisfy your visitors, rather than frustrate and annoy them, with smart design decisions. Here are 9 usability problems that websites commonly face, and some recommended solutions for each of them. Hyperlinks are designed to be clicked, so to make them usable, it makes sense to ensure that theyâre easy to click. Why would we want a larger clickable area? Simple. Because our hand movement with the mouse isnât very precise. A large clickable area makes it easier to hover the mouse cursor over the link. To ensure we get a large clickable area, we could either make the whole link bigger or increase the padding around the link using the CSS âpaddingâ property. The coding challenge idea
While brainstorming this idea came up;
A "fake" coding challenge wherein we challenge front-enders to code a predefined application. Before coding they get to choose their specialty; structure of the code, the safety of the code or the speed of the code.
The code has to be written in the online application.
After submitting the code, a predefined user test will be run on the coded applications.
Next the programmers will be shown what the user tests did to their coded applications, which should be like a revelation.
