Next chapter two thirds written. I would love to call it filler but it isn't, it doesn't move the plot much but it's doing a lot emotionally even if the first scene is just World Cup-inspired chat about Tamriel's professional 11-a-side scene where it turns out the twins are a pair of little haters with a vicious line in chants of the we-hate-Windhelm-Wanderers variety.

(Windhelm Wanderers and Markarth United absolutely fucking hate each other, and Solitude FC also have opinions, and there is an urban legend of one match at Solitude's stadium where they were playing Markarth, someone started singing 'stand up if you hate Windhelm' and the entire stadium got up.)

Anyway. Did a count of the plot beats after that and we have six chapters for the remaining companion plotlines, three main quest chapters, maybe four, and then it's into Tearstone Island and the endgame and that's 6-10 right there.

I used to post headcanons, jokes, and meta because they were fun. I liked throwing ideas out there, seeing what other people thought, and occasionally being convinced by someone else's interpretation.

Now I find myself wondering whether I'm about to reveal that I "didn't understand the story." It feels like every interpretation has to be defensible, every joke has to survive cross-examination, and every headcanon has to come with evidence.

Part of that comes from my own experience. I've noticed a pattern over the years where I'll post a piece of meta, a headcanon, or even just a silly joke about a narrative, and shortly afterward someone will quietly unfollow or soft-block me. I have no way of knowing whether the two things are actually related, but after it happens enough times, it's hard not to become self-conscious. Instead of thinking, "This would be fun to share," I start thinking, "What if this is the post that convinces people I don't have good media literacy?"

I know there are a hundred reasons someone might unfollow, and maybe it's often completely unrelated. But the uncertainty still changes how posting feels.
