antizionists will try to reinvent blood quantum to interrogate whether the jew who said something they disagree with is too white for their opinion to matter.
but when i say that’s fucked up I’M the evil zionist babykiller genocide mongrel. ok
So the solution to the afterlife on The Good Place is...Judaism?
Cool.
this is too good to only leave as a short text post. I’m gonna need the whole essay behind this to hang up on my wall.
So, this is TVGuide’s recap of the solution proposed to reform the afterlife:
“as Eleanor puts it, the system treats life not as "a test that you either pass or fail but instead a class you take." The test comes in the afterlife, when a Good Place architect and a Bad Place architect team up to design a customized scenario that forces you to confront your moral flaws. The test can be anything — from being sent to a fake Good Place "by mistake" to reliving a version of your life — and its difficulty depends on the number of points you earned before death. Regardless of points, if you don't pass the test you're rebooted to take it again and again, with the hope that one day you'll learn enough to ace it and get into the Good Place.
"But wait," interrupts the version of Timothy Olyphant Janet conjured in her void, "how do you learn and grow if you're rebooted?" Thanks for asking, Tim. The trick is that after every reboot, you retain a vague memory of what you learned in your evaluation — like, in Eleanor's words, "a little voice in your head, helping you become a better version of yourself."”
Compare that this description of how the soul is cleansed in the afterlife in Judaism:
“Gehinom [is not] a place for eternity, but a temporary—albeit terrible—place for the soul to be cleansed. In fact, the vast majority of souls do not stay in Gehinom for more than eleven months. Because we do not presume most people are so sinful as to warrant a twelve month sentence (reserved only for the wicked), the recital of Kaddish for a departed soul, which brings elevation to the soul and relief from Gehinom, is only recited for eleven months and thereafter only on the anniversary (Yartzeit) of death. On Shabbat all souls have an elevation. Souls in Gehinom are given relief, while those in the world of Yetzirah are allowed through the “Amud,” the pillar that connects the two worlds of Yetzirah and Beriah. After the purification of Gehinom, the soul enters the World to Come—the Garden of Eden—where it receives the rewards it earned through work in this world.”
Basically, the idea that the soul is put through a purification and cleansing in the afterlife before going on to its next destination is a Jewish concept (which makes sense because show creator Michael Schur is Jewish!).
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
seeing how beyblade, of all things, is somehow regaining popularity, I am reminded of when I was a poor little girl begging my parents to buy me the non-shitty beyblades so I could stop losing to every kid in the neighborhood. My parents couldnt afford it, but my dad used to work at a metal factory back then, and he custom made me a pure metal plate and metal base for my shitty little Chinesium plastic shell, that demolished (literally, demolished) every single beyblade in school. I was crowned beyblade queen very quickly and few had the courage to challenge me, because on the rare occasion my fatass metal plate lost to some new plate on the market, my dad and I would sit together and engineer a new, better shaped metal plate and base to counter them all. remember yall if ur 2poor to pay2win u can make2win! but only if ur dad works at a metal factory for 12hrs\day

what you mean ashkenazi people aren’t white /curious
i’m literally pale like a vampire
i’m new to jumblr my whole family is ashkenazi and i want to learn more about my culture
To start, "whiteness" has no empirical, real definition. Race is a social construct and the goalposts shift constantly. Ethicity and genetics are measurable and real even if the taxonomy thereof is still subjective. but race? formalized social classes based on phrenology and bias.
The people who decide who is and isn't "really White", are the people who want to decide who is the ingroup, and who is the outgroup. ie white supremacists.
now, a Jew can -appear- White, that is to say, conform to the social expectations and stereotypes. lots of Jews are White passing. however, the privileges you gain are immediately reversed should your outsider nature be revealed. justifications will be found or invented after the fact (your nose is too big, your hair too curly, you're unhygeinic, etc etc).
on top of this, at the core of most streams of White supremacy is antisemitism: the Jew is the enemy, thus by definition cannot be of the White Race.
There are people who accept white-passing jews as white. There are many people today and in the past couple decades and a bit longer than that who don’t and haven’t considered Jewish to be a race. But there are still many people who do treat Jewish like a racial category and for most of the time that our current understanding of race has existed, Jewish has been a seperate race.
That doesn’t mean that you don’t have white privilege as a white-passing Jew in environments where you are largely accepted as the white in group. But there are people out there who do not consider you white and people who are more visibly Jewish experience that a lot.
”Free Palestine” is the modern day “Sieg Heil.” Along with the actual “Sieg Heil.” Both are graffitied onto Jewish buildings and cemeteries and statues, both are shouted at Jews from a place of hate, and both don’t really mean their surface words, it’s more a way of signaling to others that one is opposed to Jews in a two word social gesture.
When someone shouts “Free Palestine” at a Jew or draws it on a synagogue, or even on like a subway station wall, what are they saying? What are they accomplishing or intending? Do they expect someone walking by will wave a magic wand and withdraw Israeli troops from the West Bank? Do they expect the average person has been somehow unaware of the concept of a Palestine despite being screamed about for the last three years and beyond? No, of course not.
Like the word “good morning” it’s not a phrase that delivers meaning based in the words, it’s just a perfunctory phrase performing a function. In the case of good morning, it’s a greeting used in the morning. In the case of “Free Palestine” it is a solely antisemitic phrase designed to signal being with the new, popular thing (just like Sieg Heil used to be) and designed to attack Jewish people. It’s nothing to do with the phrase itself, it’s how it’s weaponized against Jewish communities and utilized as kind of rebuttal to a Jew wearing a kippah or speaking Hebrew in public. “You’re Jewish/Israeli? Oh yeah, well Free Palestine!” Again, what’s the intention there? There is none except to make the person feel unwanted and in danger.
Usage dictates the definition of words. And by usage, the phrase “Free Palestine” is used as an antisemitic phrase in exactly the same way “Sieg Heil” was.
I later learned the specific term for what I’m describing is a “phatic expression.” So, I’d argue that both Sieg Heil and Free Palestine are phatic expressions that serve the social purpose of antisemitic intimidation and signaling to other non Jews that they’re with the current thing of antisemitism.
If things related to Jewishness or Judaism immediately make you say Free Palestine you are an antisemite. If you cannot see a Star of David without thinking Free Palestine then you are an antisemite. That’s all there is to it. “But there’s no bad time to advocate for a free Palestine!” Yet you don’t say it on LGBTQ pride posts. You don’t say it to random Christian people. You don’t say it about random posts about disabled people. There is one and only one minority who’s existence elicits a flood of “free Palestine.”
Rest in peace Sam Neill. Thank you for the awe and wonder you brought to us.

Insane to me that disabled people will say: "Hey, your glorified idea of revolution is going to get us killed" and then be treated as collateral damage or a necessary sacrifice. Like, yeah, the systems in place now are oppressive and literally based on eugenics, but a Revolution™️ is not going to save us. How are we supposed to trust you (abled people) to put good systems in place if you're ready to kill us to get rid of the old one? That's not saving people. Treating disabled people as if they're ridiculous for not wanting to die and pointing out how bad a revolution would be for us is insane. You're actually a horrible person if you do this.
I don't know, folks, I'm just so fucking tired of us disabled people either being ignored or told to shut up. We're treated as worthless and expendable. I'm not dying for your Great Revolution™️. I need my meds.
Well luckily this "revolution" will never happen because the idiots promoting it have zero organizational skills
the real issue is that they are allergic to slowly implementing meaningful and effective changes
There’s also the whole point about how leftist rhetoric about “The Revolution” is literally exactly just a regurgitation of Calvinist theology and that it’s basically just an expression of extremist cultural Christian belief expressed leftishly, but that’s a conversation they’re not ready for
Must be nice for goys not directly tied to the I/P conflict to be able to take a break from it for a while and enjoy their fandom stuff. We are not given the same luxury. It's always gonna be on our minds, and also how they treated us.
This is exactly it. We can't be afforded this luxury, no matter what, we're going to be reminded.
Goyim have also fandomized the whole conflict, making shallow internet "activism" a trend (once again), and making it a "fun" thing for them to engage in. Trust me, if you're hate-crimeing Jews on their right to exist, you don't fucking care about innocent Palestinians or whatever. You are just an antisemitic pos.
I used to consider myself a leftist. I no longer do.
"What made you change?"
Nothing. I still hold the same beliefs, the same values, the same morals. I'm still the same person I was when I attended Pride, when I volunteered, when I was loudly fighting racism, sexism, and inequality.
But at some point you found a dusty old sign in your grandfather's attic. You gave it a lick of paint and proudly placed it on the front door.
"NO ZIONISTS ALLOWED"
it reads. "Don't worry" you told me. "We like you. We just mean the racists, the fascists, the evil ones. We don't mean you. You're one of the good ones."
But the thing is, I'm not stupid. And you didn't do a very good job. The paint has already begun to peel, and the original words are peeking through.
"NO JEWS ALLOWED"
But its JUST antizionsim, right guys? It's JUST antizionism.
Yeah, no. This is an example of people in the comments on this post (and no, I won't blur their names or cut them out. They're down there saying this shit with their whole fucking chest). This is what EVERY SINGLE SO-CALLED 'ANTIZIONIST' TOLERATES.
You allowed this shit into your movement. Because, let's be real. The reason so many of you assholes are complaining about "But but but you're making this up!" is because you know the OP is right. You know that the functional result of "antizionism", whether you admit to yourself that it is antisemitic or you're still coping by denying it, is that Jews are not allowed. Because you vet us all. You treat us all like enemies trying to sneak into leftist spaces (gee, where the fuck have I heard that about Jews before?).
Antizionism is antisemitic. Antizionists demand that Jews turn out our pockets and present ourselves for your fucking judgment, so you can decide which of us are "good ones" and which of us deserve to be harassed, to be assaulted, to die for the crime of not assimilating to your bullshit colonizer mindset of "We know your history and desires and culture and people more than you do."
I will never be one of your good ones. We will outlive you. Am Yisrael Chai.
Seriously tho, the Soviets and Nazis were more ideologically aligned given their love for totalitarianism.
Unfortunately, leftists would hound you for saying that
Example in this essay: https://www.reddit.com/r/ussr/wiki/controversial-topics/molotov-ribbentrop-pact
(also seriously it sometimes boggles the mind that analysts at the time didn't expect the Nazis and Soviets would sign a pact. Like, both were dictatorships, just on opposite ends of the political spectrum. And given the fervent rise of antisemitism in the left and the right-wing also supporting them, horseshoe theory is very much real)
100%. Extremism on either side very quickly starts appealing to the same psychopathic people. There's a reason Nazi Germany had such a common phenomenon of 'beefsteaks', former members of the KPD who joined the NSDAP, the joke being that they were brown on the outside (brownshirts) and red on the inside.
I don't blame analysts at the time for being so shocked, because both the Nazis and Soviets openly had imperial designs on the same territories, and also both fascism and communism were totally new to being in control of a state. The first fascist state was Italy in 1922, which was structurally very different to Nazi Germany anyway, and the first communist state was the RSFSR in 1917 (later USSR). The pact came into being in 1939, so it's not that weird to me that analysts struggled to predict or understand the behavior of states' whose ideologies had only been put into practice some 20 years before.
But you're right about antisemitism being a unifying factor between the two. Lots of people tend to dismiss left wing antisemites as still being 'less dangerous' or 'less powerful' than Neo Nazis, and tbh, idk what the fuck they're talking about. If someone's threatening to kill Jews, it's a little academic to debate if they wanna kill us in the name of the white race or in the name of Palestine. I say fuck all of them and long live the sane center, center left, and center right. There's a reason extremists are also unanimous in their hate for moderates, more so than in their hate for the other extremists.
Apologies, @mazaloza, but I can't let your tags slip past us, you nailed it.

you’d think that a guy who rose to power because New Yorkers wanted anyone but a sex offender as their mayor would think twice about this
it’s bc leftists have made it crystal clear that they don’t actually care if someone is a rapist as long as they use the right buzzwords and espouse lefty politics.
My 97 year old Holocaust survivor grandmother is on her way out. We flew up to visit her one last time, and she's been doling out her belongings to the four grandkids (we're the next of kin), and she pulls out a fucking M-15 and says she wants me to have it.
I'm like "Uh, Oma? The fuck?"
And in her sweet little old German lady voice, she shakes her finger and goes "Well, you never know."
Pictured: a fucking rifle that I apparently have to get back from California to Texas. Baruch Hashem, my Oma is a serious badass.
Yup, as expected from a resistance cell leader, holy crap. Good on her.
