Trigger warnings for talk of racism and sexual assault.
I learned from the community that "mutt" is a slur against biracial people. It stems from slavery in the USA, when owners would assault enslaved people and forced them to carry the pregnancy. The child wouldn't be seen as white because of their mother, but not full accepted by the enslaved as black due to colorism.
It is still a colorism bias, to this day.
So, for people who are dog-identifying: Please do not use the term "mutt" to refer to yourself, unless you are black/white biracial and choosing to reclaim the slur.
This includes using "mutt" as a name/title, or using mutt/muttself as pronouns.
I know I'll hear "but it ties to my xenogenders/therianthropy!" No, that is not an excuse. Call yourself a "stray", a "rescue dog", or something similar. Do not contribute to racism.
