the reason why this movie is so underrated is that disney released it almost side by side with the harry potter movie.
treasure planet was a very, very expensive movie that used novel cgi mixed with 2d drawing, took a lot of work and money to create, the script itself was amazing to work with, the characters had arcs and depths, and the story as a whole was compelling and never off.
i don’t think anyone ever figured out why disney wanted it to flop, but the date of release was strictly suicidal for a movie. that’s why it never got the attention it deserved.
For y’all that haven’t seen the movie and are finding those screenshots touching, I should clarify: The kid is the protagonist, and the cyborg dude talking to him is the main villain. They’re both well aware of that fact the whole time, but Silver isn’t lying to Jim. He’s not trying to manipulate him or use him. He just wound up accidentally adopting a kid that he was working against, and decided that being enemies wouldn’t stop him from caring.
This movie is a fucking masterpiece.

Milo Murphy from Milo Murphy’s Law is autistic. I’ve just started watching the show so I’m going to go back and add more later. But there’s just no way he’s not.The creators just keep writing autistic characters by accident and I think it’s kind of great.
Riley Mathews from Girl Meets World is autistic. She hyper fixates, misses social cues, has a vivid imagination, can have a hard time understanding people’s perspectives, has a very different understanding of social situations then others, plans things ahead months or years in advance, relies on her routines and rules, does not realize when she comes across as rude, is loyal, struggles to recognize when it’s appropriate to involve herself, hyper empathetic, has poor emotional regulation, she stims by moving.

I’ve been rewatching Grey’s Anatomy and I have no idea how I didn’t see it before but Christina Yang is absolutely autistic. She’s very socially unaware. Comes across way more harsh and cruel then she intends. She’s hyper focused. She dances to stim. She’s often disconnected from her own emotions. Has a sense of humor that others see as inappropriate. Plus a bunch of other qualities that I’ll mention when I remember them.
I like to think Ned Flanders as autistic, but just is because he's my favorite (but to be fair he does have some traits that can be viewed as being autistic), i just like to imagine he taught himself fronting because he wanted people to like him, but the characters that generally seemed autistic is Lisa and Mr. Burns (but he's a terrible person)
