A medieval peasant owes their landlord a certain amount of labor. Either an area to farm or some other form of labor counted in days. They are required to perform backbreaking, grueling labor for their lord. They work fewer days for your lord than you do for your boss. On the days they are not working for their lord, they are doing the exact same backbreaking, grueling labor to make enough food and clothing to not die of starvation and exposure themselves.

Here is a really good article series about the life of medieval peasants. I'm linking the part that directly addresses this point, but it's worth reading the whole thing.

Andoria - I'm from Winnipeg, I feel like a planet of frozen wastes would leave me feeling right at home. Plus the Andorians are sexy; no downside.

Vulcan - Ugh, no. Listen, I respect their traditions, but a planet where you're not allowed to show emotions just sounds like Hell. Also, it's bloody hot.

Romulus - Looks temperate; attractive people. Wouldn't be crazy about living in a repressive police state but I think I'd actually do alright in a highly ritualistic society where advancements is based on plotting. I'd do alright on Romulus.

Cardassia - The fascist dictatorship here makes the Romulan police state look like an anarchist utopia. Plus it's really hot. No.

Ferenginar - It's constantly raining and everything's massively overpriced. It's basically Vancouver!

Risa - I'm way too asexual for Risa. I'd probably enjoy swimming there but, eh, I could do that anywhere.

Qo'NoS - That's just what I need, an entire planet full if people who think that they can achieve honour by beating me up and taking my lunch money. Hard pass.

Orion - Planet full of people who want to pick my pocket. Also, I feel like the pheromones would just give me a headache.

While the typical way in which these platforms present a hazard is falling and dropping Mario onto the lava, there is an extremely rare scenario where they can squish Mario instead.

Despite not being meant to be interacted with from below, the platforms are fully solid from all sides and as such have the ability to squish Mario by falling on top of him, if he is positioned in a very precise and unfortunate way.
