Hi, I'm Eren! If you're seeing this then that means you follow my meager little AO3 account and liked my writing. Here is where I'll post to better notify when a new chapter or one shot has come out. 20 - He/Him
Ma Monstrueuse Créature - (Still In Progress + NSFW)
When Gustave ends up injured while exploring an abandoned opera house, caught up in a storm with no way to get help, and left to his own devices, he has to find a way to keep himself warm, dry, and unfortunately awake. Enter Verso Dessendre, the shadow that has haunted L'Opera de Lumiére since his passing, and who is a little more than desperate to find a way to pass on.
But just because he's already dead, doesn't mean he can't enjoy some Earthly wonders while it's still available to him.
And Gustave is just too cute when he's pushed to the brink.
Essentially a crack oneshot that has been broken into several parts describing how Gustave has some hot and steamy ghost sex with Verso. (God help me.)
comfort me in my time of need - (Under 5k Words + SFW)
Gustave gets injured after protecting Verso from a Nevron attack and Verso has to make sure Gustave doesn’t die before he gets them back to camp.
A very self-indulgent one shot with some hurt/comfort and fluffy scenes at the end.
Touch Me, Please - (Still in Progress + NSFW)
When Gustave wakes to find Lumière decimated and his friends beaten and bruised, his first instinct is to run to the sound of Maelle’s voice calling his name; her cries like a battering ram to his fragile heart, smashing it to pieces. He doesn’t know how he’s alive, or why. But when he tries to hug her — to hold his darling girl in his arms — she collapses. And that’s when he realizes something is very wrong.
TLDR; Gustave was revived in Act III but something went horribly wrong.
🕮 The Sandman 🕮
i can't love you...i'd only ruin you - (5.1k Words + SFW)
There’s always that split second when you realize that everything that you once knew has changed and whether you choose to acknowledge such change occurred will be the deciding factor of how-what may possibly be-the rest of your life will turn out.
For some, its’ the death of a loved one. Others, a terrible accident that leaves you disabled for the rest of your life. But for a select few, a confession is all that it takes for their world to either be set ablaze or come crumbling down.

"I remember that evening like it was yesterday. Verso was so happy that his nose was finally healing, and his sisters decided to host a little party with some friends and family. Everyone remembers it as the night Alicia managed to finish two and a half family-sized bags of crisps on her own (yeah she actually did), but me and Verso remember it as the night we kissed for the first time..."

"The moment I saw my boyfriend without half his beard, I went crazy! And when i found out it was Sciel's idea, I went even more crazy. Those two were really the troublemakers back in the day!"

Rules: In a new post, show the last three lines you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as you feel like.
Thanks @yachaer for the tag. At the time he tagged me for this, I was writing for Chapter 4 of Touch Me, Please:
[...] Before his friend had even finished the story, Gustave had buried his head into his knees, willing the ocean to either swallow him up, or make a big enough storm so they’d sink. Unfortunately, neither had happened, which left him stuck trying to figure out a way out of this uncomfortable situation Sciel had created.
Tue Dieu.
I'm now tagging @draka1na and @butterflysist3r for this challenge! :)
Look back at what you have done in 2025 and answer the questions. Answers are as short or long as you want them to be. Artists sub in draw for write.
I was mentioned by @yachaer to participate and I shall pass the torch to @draka1na and @butterflysist3r
Otherwise, here we go!
1. Favorite character to draw or write?
Obviously Gustave ngl. As a character, I kind of attached to him really quickly and heavily because of his relationship with Maelle, and I related to it with how I am with my own dad.
2. Least favorite character to draw or write.
Hm. I don't wanna say I have a least favorite, but I think P!Renoir is harder for me, solely because of his darker nature towards how he does things or reacts to certain situations. I enjoy him because of the blatant toxicity his character embodies, but writing him beyond short snippets between friends, he's definitely the hardest for me, personally.
3. Favourite pairing?
Verstave, currently. A close second is actually Gustave x Renoir, shocking, I know. Verstave is for my overall reading where Gus and Ren are for when I dip my toes into darker, more intense themes.
4. Least favorite pairing?
Verso/Julie. Enough said. Them, or any of the gestrals paired with humans. Specifically Monoco/Verso. Not my thing.
5. Favorite POV and tense
I tend to write in third person POV because most of what I write is fanfiction based and I like a ix of present and past tense. My absolute favorite thing that authors do is when they can mix past with present like a sort of flashback, iykyk.
6. Something new you did this year?
I committed to finishing more writing and outlining my work. I have my oneshot that I did finish, and am following an outline for my longer fic. :)
7. Something other people told you you’re good at
Ah. Currently, I don't really remember... Aha. 😅Definitely gonna get slack for this with my friends later... But I guess. Talking to people?
8. Something you think you’re good at
Talking to people.
9. Something you want to improve on?
Being more consistent or making myself find the time to dedicate myself to my hobbies. Ever since my parents separation, I've struggle with committing to things I enjoyed, so I really want to at least find a healthier relationship so I can keep enjoying the things I enjoy like writing.
10. Favourite thing you read this year?
Run With Me by @porgthespacepenguin & Dolce Tana by Diari
11. Favourite event you did this year?
Unfortunately I don't do events as I get anxiety with a due date, however, I loved a private Secret Santa a server I was in did, and lurked at all the wonderful arts and writing that happened!
12. Favourite song to listen to while you draw/write
Don't laugh... But Gustave Playlist on YouTube by TetraTheMage.
13. Favourite type of fic to write or art to draw (crack, fluff, angst, smut etc)
Crack. I love a good crack-fic or angst with a HEA. I do want to try and write smut for Touch Me, Please though. :)
I didn't have a chance to compile what I'd been reading in December, so this is a bumper edition of recs of things I've enjoyed throughout the past couple of months.
It's mostly Verstave, and it's mostly short & sweet fluff.
Short (1k to 5k)
Fic Title & Author: Childish Whims by grumblewoes
Rating: G
Word Count: 3450
Author Summary: Verso really, really, really wanted a dog.
Notes from Me: This is Verso gen rather than Verstave. It's very, very cute and revolves around kid Verso's determination to persuade his parents into letting him get a pet - the sibling interactions are adorable.
Fic Title & Author: Candy by VerenaKauer
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 1621
Author Summary: Gustave finds out that “Barbapapa” is not really compatible with intricate mechanisms. Luckily, Verso is there to help.
Notes from Me: Barbapapa was the bane of my existence while playing through the DLC, and I was delighted to find a fic that projects that frustration onto our characters. It's always fun to see the game mechanics portrayed in the narrative, and it's done in a really fun way here.
Fic Title & Author: comfort me in my time of need by erenjoson5
Rating: Unrated
Word Count: 4959
Author Summary: Gustave gets injured after protecting Verso from a Nevron attack and Verso has to make sure Gustave doesn't die before he gets them back to camp.
Notes from Me: Gustave Whump! I am so here for Gustave Whump. I'm especially here for Verso fussing over him, and there's some lovely hurt/comfort in this fic.
Fic Title & Author: You Should Have Stayed Home, Mon Pote by HairyEcballium
Rating: G
Word Count: 2474
Author Summary: On the Dark Shores Gustave survives blast of Noir's beam by some miracles and find himself later in Spring Meadows. How he ended up there? Well, someone might just know.
Notes from Me: I love this light-hearted exploration of how Gustave might have made it from the beach to the meadows, and explaining a few of the odd quirks of canon along the way.
Medium (5k to 25k)
Fic Title & Author: Hand Trick by Wishuponaidiot
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 1876
Author Summary: “Huh,” Gustave lets out before suddenly feeling a tapping on his shoulder from behind. “Oh, there you -“ Gustave swivels to look behind him and sees- A hand. Verso’s hand. With no Verso attached.
Notes from Me: Canon's Verso Magic is such incredible body horror, so I am always going to enjoy any fic that focuses on that. This one is very light-hearted and silly with it, with Verso's hand Addams Familying its way around the story.
Long (25k+)
Fic Title & Author: In Plain Sight by Renlukun
Rating: E
Word Count: 5344
Author Summary: It was just supposed to be a dinner with friends. But of course, Gustave had something to announce, much to Verso’s chagrin.
Notes from Me: Ahh, this is such a gloriously chaotic dinner that it feels like something from a sit-com. Very cute, very chaotic, and with some smut sprinkled in for good measure.
WIPs
Fic Title & Author: Safe In My Hands by porgthespacepenguin
Rating: M
Word Count: 36,004
Author Summary: Five times Verso takes Gustave's hand to protect him, from the world as well as from himself — and one time Gustave returns the favor.
Notes from Me: This is very, very sweet: it's structured around hand-holding in various forms. I'm a sucker for pining and yearning, so I'm especially fond of the first half of the fic.
Fic Title & Author: Feu sur ma peau by Araushnee
Rating: M
Word Count: 51,006 [Chapter 6/?]
Author Summary: In which Gustave lives, and Verso’s Canvas harbors one more grief-stricken soul.
Notes from Me: IT'S BACK! This is a gorgeous fic that was temporarily put on hiatus - and in December it gloriously returned. It's one of the earliest examples of a fic using the popular "Writer Gustave" fanon that I can remember reading, and there's some absolutely wonderful world-building (and very sinister foreshadowing that has me holding my breath to see what's in store).
Fic Title & Author: To Carry the Burden by VerenaKauer
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 2975 [Chapter 1/6]
Author Summary: 5 times Verso carried Gustave’s burden and the 1 time Gustave carried his.
Notes from Me: Verso's burden skill is a goldmine for angst, and I love the 5+1 format for it. Immediate angst galore - I'm really looking forward to reading the future parts of this one.
Art
Fic Title & Author: Light the way by thevalesofanduin
Rating: M
Word Count: 14,159 [Chapter 3/?]
Author Summary: After Verso loses his family to a house fire, he takes up a position as lightkeeper in an attempt to flee from both his grief and the prying eyes of Parisian high society.
Notes from Me: This work is so intriguing - light rom-com by day, creepy horror by night. The author is playing around with some fun formatting during the 'horror by night' sections of the fic, and the whole cast gets to make an appearance in the sleepy little town of Lumiere.
I've ended up with some lovely art bookmarked on my AO3 too - and since this is my rec post and I make the rules, I'm slipping them in here in their own section too.
Art Title & Artist: The Art of The VCU [Illustrations] by multiple artists
Rating: M
Artist Summary: Verso and Gustave’s adventure through the VCU multiverse as illustrated by 13 artists.
Notes from Me: You will forever be able to find me crying to myself in a corner about the wonderful Verstave Cinematic Universe. There's such an amazing variety of art styles and subjects on display here, and I just love that this collaboration managed to come together (huge, huge, HUGE shoutout to ButterflySist3r who did the lion's share of the organising for the art side of things as well as contributing some beautiful pieces themself - the result is stunning.)
Art Title & Artist: Set up [Short COMIC] by Anivy (Yamimidna)
Rating: Teen
Artist Summary: Maelle invited both Verso and Gustave to meet her at Lumière's café. But where is she?
Notes from Me: This is so cute I want to shake it. The detailing is so adorable throughout.
Art Title & Artist: [COMIC] Do you want to spend time with Gustave? by queenstardust
Rating: E
Artist Summary: I want to share my little Verstave Comic, I drew for the last convention I attended : ) Since I drew it the weekend before the convention, it's self printed and folded out of one DinA4 page, to a pocket size smut zine. It's 6 tiny comic pages+title, so it really is just porn without plot, but a lot of feelings.
Notes from Me: I'm fanning myself at the sight of this just from re-opening the link in order to rec it. This is the very definition of Porn With Feelings. The art is gorgeous, and the smut is smutty. There's a continuation here on tumblr as well, but it hasn't yet been posted to AO3.
Art Title & Artist: Making new memories [COMIC] by Amiko
Rating: M
Artist Summary: Before Maelle leaves the canvas for good, she fulfills Verso's wish to be mortal but also makes him promise to look after Gustave. Even though he's reluctant at first, Verso quickly discovers that maybe it won't be that difficult to keep that promise. Gustave's company is not so bad and maybe he does have it in him to try to enjoy life again.
Notes from Me: Amiko's art is legendary in the fandom, and with good reason. If this comic was a published graphic novel, I would be slamming my money down on the counter so fast - and yet, because the universe is filled with wonder, it's right here on AO3 for us to devour.
I am someone who enjoys watching let's plays. And let's be honest, that's usually not the best way to experience a video game. When you're in the player's seat, you get to play games your way, experience them through your own eyes and through the prism of your personality, past experiences, and imagination.
Mind you, I'm talking about narrative games here, because let's be real, there's little to reflect about and imagine in "pew pew, you're dead" games.
My point is, when you are in the driver seat, you're active and in control. When you are watching a let's play, you're passive, it's like watching a series. You cannot influence it.
However, when you are playing, you are also alone. When you are watching a let's play, there's someone else here with you, experiencing the game at the same time as you. I'm talking about the let's player obviously. Sure, there isn't a lot of conversation happening with the let's player, it's a one-way street. But I think it's still worthwhile once in a while, especially if that let's player is someone who can bring another perspective, another lens to the table.
There are a few let's players that I love watching, either because they like the same type of games as I do, or because I think that what they add to the discourse cannot be found anywhere else.
I often go back to a specific let's play from Quill18, about The Beginner's Guide. I love Quill, and The Beginner's Guide is 100% my jam. What is truly unique in this let's play is that Quill is going in blind and he starts recording it very lightly, expecting to play something along the lines of the The Stanley Parable - that is to say, something silly and goofy.
The Beginner's Guide
However, The Beginner's Guide is anything but that. And as the let's play progresses, you can see that Quill is starting to get affected by the very personal feelings that its creator, Davey Wreden, put in the game.
I don't want to spoil you the watch if you're interested, it remains one of my favourite let's plays ever. You can check it out there: Let's Drunk: The Beginner's Guide - Part 1
But at the beginning of Part 3, before resuming play, Quill talks a bit about what the game means for him at that exact moment, and how it resonates with his fears and inner dreams. It's both tough and touching at the same time, and I remember feeling for him while watching the let's play the first time, and wondering whether he was okay.
I have transcribed the part about creativity here, and edited for brevity, as this post is getting really long already:
"I don't know why this game is hitting me so hard. I think it's because I've struggled with the desire to be a creative person, someone who makes things. (A/N, me too buddy)"
[…]
"I fancied myself a writer at the time"
[…]
"Of course, by the time that I was this age, of course I would have finished and published a computer game. Many times, my New Year's resolution was to have finished, created and published a computer game. And make one dollar […] Three years ago, that was my resolution: 'by the end of this year, I will publish a computer game and sell at least 1 copy for 1 dollar, and call myself a *professional* video game developer.' That was it, 1 dollar.
How hard could that be?
I mean I finish games now. I remember finishing my first Ludum Dare game and being so incredibly pleased."
[…]
"And I'm always worried that I'm not gonna do another one, that I'm not gonna be able to finish another Ludum Dare, that I'm not gonna be able to ever do something good again in my entire life. And I think this is some of that feel that this game is expressing. It's a combination of depression, and isolation, and having to run away from people, and also worrying that you'll run out of all your creativity."
(Quill18)
Let me tell you, being married to someone who is truly creative, some of these are things that come up regularly (I'm sure you didn't expect to get insider information on Porg in this post, that's your reward for reading this far ;) ). And I suppose it's a common feeling, something that will resonate with many people, especially on Tumblr.
Personally, had I played this game on my own before (or without) watching the let's play, I'm sure I would have gotten something different out of it. And that would probably have been fine too. But I'm very glad I watched that let's play, as it brought a different perspective for me. Quill is someone who struggled with a lot of the same things that I have been struggling with, but pushed further than I ever did and ended up overcoming a lot of them through effort and shear dedication. Something which I never did. And as such, I get to enjoy the perspective of someone with the same affinities as me, who has the benefit of experience (which I don't have), and I get to see things through the eyes of someone who has learned some lessons that I haven't because I never found myself in these situations.
To me, this was incredibly enriching, in a much more meaningful way than listening to a random motivational speaker talk about dealing with failure at TED. It's just an example, I don't hate TED (double negative, how's that for an endorsement?).
Anyway, my point with this whole post was: let's plays can be worth your while, aside from the couch potato entertainment value.
