We don't know what they really look like because it's dark in the hole. People die in the hole. Don't go in the hole. They asked around and everyone said hey yeah don't go in the hole. you look like adventurers but don't go in the hole. people die in the hole. They scouted out the hole and found a sign that said: THE HOLE. 57 People Have Died In The Hole. they talked to the person who put up the sign and she said yeah so we actually hate it when people die in the hole and we would much rather people didn't go in the hole. So next session they are going into the hole.
We've paid for tombstones in advance, made sure the villagers know how to spell our names correctly, informed next of kin, given the person who updates the death count sign some money for more paint, and arranged for our pet owlbear to be given to a pre-vetted new owner if we don't come back out of The Hole.
We also cast augury to make sure the villagers were right about it being pretty much certain death and we weren't doing all that unnecessarily.

trans people can be "straight" in that they can be attracted solely to people of the other binary gender (or otherwise heterosexual/romantic), but they are never considered "straight", because straightness as a socio-political position necessarily requires gender conformity and, subsequently, requires one to be cisgender.
bi people are not considered "closer to straightness"- even when in committed monogamous relationships with people of the other binary gender- because they are not actually conforming to what straightness expects of them; which includes an expectation to experience attraction only to the other binary gender.
ace and aro people are not "basically straight", even if they experience romantic or sexual attraction (respectively) exclusively to the other binary gender, because straightness necessarily requires both romantic and sexual attraction exclusively to another binary gender. lacking the full, normative experience of one or the other is, in fact, contrary to straightness as a socio-political position.

And the guy shows up to proceed to beat the shit out of them before explaining himself to her like hey sorry bullshit kept happening, my phone fell into a storm drain and my wallet got stolen when I was trying to find someone who'd borrow me a phone so I could call and
His girlfriend had been fending off the 5 drunk guys for most of the evening by explaining that even if she was going to ditch her boyfriend, she can't possibly leave without finishing her beer, which she is keeping perpetually full via careful sleight of hand where she's just pouring it back and forth into and out of the pitcher.
However the drunk guys are also drinking, and eventually she can't afford to buy another pitcher for the table so she can't keep up the ever-full beer glass trick. At this point she has to resort to setting up the pool trick shot that she's never seen anyone but her boyfriend pull off, and says she'll leave with whoever manages the shot first.
That buys her another hour or so and then, finally, her boyfriend makes it back. He looks like shit, hair down and just a mess, he's wearing an entirely different jacket that he got from an alley, and barely recognizable—especially to 5 guys who've been drunk for hours now. He lurks for a minute, finds out what's going on, and proceeds to pull off the trick shot first try. Throws the jacket off, fixes his hair with a hair tie his girlfriend lends him, finally looks like himself again, and THEN beats the shit out of them with the pool cue.
