I think if I wrote a book and someone said they read only the dialogue and skipped LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE AND CONSIDERED IT A COMPLETED READING I'd actually become a murderer

(Poor orphan voice) please good artist *shakes bowl* spare me so some AU lore please π₯Ί*shake bowl*
(Old Harleyβ’ vc) Sure thing, Little Timmy!
What kind of lore was not specified sooo I'm just gonna infodump about Displaced!Molly lol, she is the original roleswap this entire AU was based around after all!
(just in case, spoilers for Prison of Plastic ahead)
The fun thing about all of the Neon Skyrail officers, character-wise, is that their personalities and ideologies are basically just twisted evolutions of their canon arcs and flaws, influenced by the unique changes to their backstory in this AU.
For Displaced!Molly specifically, the only big change to her backstory is that the events of Prison of Plastic never happened; Giovanni didn't show up to the Blyndeff Toy Emporium one week after the museum heist, Lorelai never trapped him in that giant Dream Bubble, and he didn't kidnap Molly away from her family at the end of the day.
In this timeline, Molly spends several more years being overworked, overlooked, and overshadowed by her neglectful family before finally snapping and running away to Giovanni and her friends of her own volition, which combined with Sylvie effectively 'betraying' her by refusing to join Neon Skyrail uhhh definitely fucked her up a lot more to say the least
In canon, Molly's trauma and abuse made her self-sufficient to a fault, not readily accepting help from anyone and, matter of fact, not even really trusting anyone to interject in her life and her work without fucking things up for her even more (probably thanks to Martin and his neverending assembly line of financial/logistical catastrophes).
Displaced!Molly's characterisation plays up her self-sufficiency, distrust, and contempt for authority a lot. In my mind, she's a lot more of a subtle mastermind as an antagonist than Canon!Zora's "Oncoming Storm"-type villain; As opposed to Zora being a thrill-seeking daredevil and bored of how powerful she is, Molly hates confrontation and doesn't want to do any more work than she needs to, not to mention her background in retail and (to be perfectly blunt) survival instincts from years of neglect and abuse make her much more suited to scheming and diplomacy than Zora "TEN PACES, ASSHOLE" Salazar is.
Now in terms of powers and abilities, Displaced!Molly has a couple of notable talents and, of course, some terrifying moves in her arsenal:
Null and Void: Molly's signature moves, she almost always has one of them active at all times. Null completely zeroes out any damage dealt to Molly but the most extreme instances, and Void nullifies any magical effect or epithet move that would affect her. Powerful as they are, she can only have one of them active at a time, and they can be broken if her concentration is disrupted enough.
Power Word: Molly whispers a single command word such as STOP or HUSH, targeting the dumbest and most pliable part of the mind and forcing anyone who hears it to obey. Powerful in concept, but limited by the simplicity of the command word, and intelligent targets are more resistant to the effect.
Banishabye: Evolved from Hushabye, Molly can dumb whatever she touches down to nothing, essentially banishing it from existence until she stops concentrating on the effect. Being banished for too long can have permanent effects on the target's memory and psyche.
(as a side note, I think it's very fun for the character who hates and distrusts power and authority to have the power to nullify epithets lol)
Another fun idea I had for Displaced!Molly was to make her really, really good at predicting people and their actions, using her empathy and understanding of human nature; not only does it add an extra layer of threat to her that doesn't rely on her epithet (for themes reasons), but it also kinda carries the sad undertone of suggesting that deep down Molly still is the same abused kid she was 13 years ago, using every bit of her cleverness and cunning to try to predict the whims of a neglectful dad or the temper of a short-fused older sister.

Following up Trixie and Feenie, continuing this Mundie streak; meet the Displaced AU's own Howie Honeyglow! A hardworking, loyal employee at the Sweet Jazz Museum...or so it seems...
Having Howie take Mera's place in this AU was a tough choice, especially because I originally wanted him to be Percy's partner-in-crime in the Banzai Blasters; unfortunately plot got in the way :P at least things'll be interesting this way
