Hector Barbossa began as a mutineer. Once first mate to Jack Sparrow aboard the Black Pearl, he led a rebellion, seized the ship, and claimed the cursed treasure of Isla de Muerta. Resurrected by Tia Dalma for reasons of her own, Barbossa returned not as a villain, but as a necessary evil. He helped rescue Jack from Davy Jones’ Locker, stood with the Brethren Court as Pirate Lord of the Caspian Sea, and even brokered uneasy alliances to fight the East India Trading Company. He was cunning, theatrical, and utterly self-serving—but when the world needed a pirate who could outwit gods and kings, it was Barbossa who stepped forward.

He became a privateer under King George II, hunting Blackbeard not for justice, but for revenge. He lost a leg. He gained a fleet. And when the seas grew stranger still, he became something more than a pirate—he became a power.

But beneath the gold and bravado, there was a secret. A daughter, Carina Smyth, raised without knowledge of her bloodline. When they met, it was not as father and child, but as adversaries. And when the truth came, Barbossa did not weep. He acted. He gave his life to save hers—diving into the abyss to destroy Salazar, the ghost of a past he could not outrun.

Barbossa died as he lived: on his own terms, with a smirk and a sword, defying fate one last time.
