Well, all is fair in love and war.

…. to the hit movie “Daredevil” from 2003 for surprisingly taking the lead in the “best live action adaptation of Daredevil” ranking (by me).

Sure, it’s a swiss cheese of plotholes, but still the only live adaptation to meet the bare minimum of having a living breathing Foggy Nelson.

So congratulations! 🥳

btw: think of the movie what you will but Favreau’s Foggy is a delightful mix of bitchiness, humor and loyalty and I won’t accept any slander towards him

Now, I won’t mention again how Matt went to literal Hell for Foggy. For a change I will mention how Foggy broke a literal demon’s hold over Matt. (Only for a moment, mind you, but it was enough of a distraction so that Iron Fist could punch the demon out of Matt - as one does)

Foggy is strong for Matt in the moments Matt can’t be strong himself

And Foggy is smart for Matt in the moments Matt can’t be smart himself ( so most of the time)

Imagine Matt, being in the company of one of the hottest women in the Marvel universe - and he thinks of how much he loves Foggy

Damn, collecting these, I realise… you guys don’t vote for them because they’re not that platonic, huh?

Who would actually be better at playing the lawyer part? 😚

Bruce is lonely and struggling while Dick is off finding himself. Cue Dick, like some guardian angel, arriving at the nick of time to save him.

LOOK AT HIS FACE. LOOK HOW HAPPY HE IS.

And then the conversation they have after. The conversation.

Bruce asking if he’s “coming home for good” even though they’re still in the penthouse rather than the manor, because Bruce designates wherever he is to also be Dick’s home. Dick saying he needs their friendship, that he needs Bruce (emphasized in his own adventures while away, where the only thing that kept him from splattering on the pavement was the comfort of thinking of Bruce).

Yes, Dick struggles with imposter syndrome, feels he can’t do it, that everyone else would be better suited for this than him. He (as well as Bruce) fears he would have to be Bruce to be Batman.

But a huge part of his development here is realizing that he is, in fact, good enough and that he can be Batman without turning into Bruce. Bruce also agrees that Dick does a great job, capable of being his own man despite the cowl.

Don’t get me wrong: I love Dick as Nightwing and Bruce as Batman and since DC will always return to the status quo, Dick won’t ever permanently take the mantle.

I don't want him because his books keep getting dragged into crossovers that alter the trajectory of his story the only runs that managed to avoid it are Dixon Taylor and Watters

This bleeds onto future Batman because I don't want his branding to be tied to that city and the bat

Every time batman shows up everyone else is automatically overshadowed because he's DC's cash cow

But the posts I am talking about are dismissing Dick as Bruce's successor with *in universe* reasons that are simply not true.

Like that wearing the cowl would "drag him into the dark" when he has proven that he can be Batman and stay himself.

Or that he doesn't want to be Batman, when - while he may say that - he crashes out when Bruce asks anyone else to do it. (I'm sure Dick's main reason to not want to be Batman is that it usually means Bruce is dead or broken and he hates the thought of that.)

I don't want Bruce to retire anytime soon and give up being Batman permanently. So my post is not a call to make Dick Batman again.
