I don't quite understand why Eloise is painted as a villain in so many fanfics. She had every right to be upset about Penelope being Lady Whistledown. Yes, she was wrong for not paying attention to Penelope and had she heard her out she would have understood Penelope's feelings. But its not a linear conflict where only one person hurt the other. The whole point was they hurt each other. Eloise hurt Penelope by making her feel ignored, never listening to what she had to say and discarding their long term friendship so quickly. But Penelope hurt Eloise’s family and broke her trust. Eloise genuinely trusted Penelope and that betrayal stung. They equally caused each other pain.

i <3 when women characters feel they aren't able to express sadness in "normal" ways because they don't feel safe enough to cry in their environment so instead they opt for the more acceptable strong emotion of rage and they get recklessly angry at the people around them in fits of misplaced sadness and terror and make irreversible decisions and hurt others. i dont care as much when this happens to a man

So I’m only halfway through S4 of Bridgerton but I’m having Thoughts about Eloise and Hyacinth’s plotline so far. Typically I’m all for my girl loudly making sure everyone in the room knows exactly what she thinks of her “role” in society, but I agree she sometimes does it at the expense of the feelings of the women and girls around her. That being said, while I do think Eloise shouldn’t be so dismissive toward her sister, you can so clearly see the pain she’s covering up. The pain of witnessing Hyacinth’s brainwashing in real time, but she’s powerless to stop it, and should she stop it? Is she ultimately going to have to decide if it’s kinder to attempt to open Hyacinth’s eyes about the world they live in or to allow her to live in her fantasy? Would Hyacinth’s life be happier? If she’s capable of being content as her future husband’s property/accessory, maybe that’s not something Eloise ought to interfere with. She is clearly struggling with the feeling of getting left behind. It makes me wonder if sometimes, deep down, she wishes her eyes weren’t open. That she could be content in a guilded cage too.

fan entitlement mixed with a complete misunderstanding of the business of film and television is a scourge in modern fandoms today. no, your favorite actors aren't obligated to drop everything in their careers to be sure to film ten months out of the year for an anthology-structured show where they are no longer the top bill, and no, that doesn't mean there's always a conspiracy involved or that the actor is arrogant and selfish. it's a job, beloveds. these actors do not owe you a thing.
