Deer eating the big sagebrush. Taken on a potato.
solarpunk haters are cowards I'm sorry. Yeah my bad for liking a utopian society where we can still reap the benefits of technology without the unchecked ecological decimation of capitalism. Sorry I like nice things I didn't know you couldn't like nice things anymore I forgot you can only like things that suck bad

She has oppositional defiance disorder.
I sure hope people don't hear me whispering "get 'em" to my dog as encouragement up this butte.
I went to see Aurora perform live tonight and one of the very first things she told the crowd was that she'd been so excited for the concert that she'd eaten a bunch of cake earlier that day and nearly shat herself. But of course didn't... because she's a lady...
Then after some of the most beautiful, moving and ethereal music you've ever heard in your life, she told everyone how she had two rivers of sweat running down her thighs trying to escape from her asshole, and also that she'd been trying to make a baby with herself for a while which hadn't been very successful but she was having a fucking excellent time with it.
I think the entire stadium was in love with her.

Rachel Entrekin Becomes 1st Woman to Win Cocodona 250 Ultramarathon

Just Women's Sports, Abigail Moeckler, May 7, 2026
Rachel Entrekin made ultramarathon history this week, becoming the first woman to win the Cocodona 250 outright.
The 34-year-old crossed the Flagstaff, Arizona finish line in 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 48 seconds, breaking the overall course record while finishing ahead of both the men’s and women’s fields.
"I think I basically wept from the second I got off the single track until I crossed the finish line," Entrekin said afterwards.
Known as one of the toughest endurance races in the world, the Cocodona 250 stretches more than 250 miles across desert terrain while featuring 38,791 feet of elevation gain — and a high point of 9,241 feet.
Yall might have seen this news story going around- (5/5/2026)
Along with some....rather sensational fear mongering about this being a new pandemic or whatever.
Let's clear a few things up.
Person to person spread is suuuuuper rare with hantavirus. it basically requires direct contact with infected rodent urine, feces, or saliva.
Now, SOME news stories are making the claim that the Andes Variant can have person to person transmission. HOWEVER, despite these claims popping up often, evidence is limited- there's 1 paper that looked at a cluster of 3 cases of the Andes strain in 2014 which indicated that 1 of the cases might have been a person to person transmission.
HOWEVER a more recent metastudy that found no real evidence of human to human transmission in the Andes variant. So if it's happens, it's VERY rare
Hantavirus is known to be transmitted from rodents to humans. However, some reports from Argentina and Chile have claimed that the hantaviru
And for the record, this is what the WHO is officially saying:
On 2 May 2026, a cluster of passengers with severe respiratory illness aboard a cruise ship was reported to the World Health Organization. T
Further investigations are ongoing. The outbreak is being managed through coordinated international response, and includes in-depth investigations, case isolation and care, medical evacuation and laboratory investigations. Human hantavirus infection is primarily acquired through contact with the urine, faeces, or saliva of infected rodents. It is a rare but severe disease that can be deadly. Although uncommon, limited human to human transmission has been reported in previous outbreaks of Andes virus (a specific species of hantavirus). WHO currently assesses the risk to the global population from this event as low and will continue to monitor the epidemiological situation and update the risk assessment.
Now, apparently today in a press conference, someone from WHO said they are looking into whether person to person transmission is responsible, which is what's creating all these scary sounding headlines. It's a possibility, they are looking into it. Ok.
But given that the incubation period can be weeks long, only 3 cases here have been lab verified, and these folks have been on an international luxury nature cruise for 5 weeks now...I think there's a lot of possible explanations (shared exposure event, contaminated food, etc), and even IF this is a rare confirmation of actual person to person transmission, it would be one the requires prolonged and very close contact.... it's definitely not a new pandemic. It's not new covid. It's not new flu. It's just not.
So. Please. Be thoughtful if you see this story going around. Follow any updates back to the source.
And, you know, wash up if you go rooting around in any wild rodent dens in the new future.
perhaps some will disagree, but i think the world got worse when we changed the colour of the night
this is what i mean
Via @bulbaderp
To be clear, THIS is how nights of the future should be lit
This is bat friendly street lighting, which not only looks sick as fuck but allows bats to pass through without disturbance, as they cannot see red.
orange and especially white lights deter bats and prevent them from reaching feeding grounds at nighttime. Please if you can, write to your local council and encourage red street lights!!!!
ALSO! red light doesn’t fuck up human night vision much so you can go in and out of lit areas without readjusting
red light gang rise up
It's also not just bats! Many nocturnal animals cannot see/are not disturbed by red light. So even if you don't particularly care about bats or live in an area without a native bat population this is still relevant to you!
And red is objectively the coolest colour. It's warm and generally aesthetically appealing.
Lake day.

The measures under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation will allow businesses to benefit from a more circular economy.
From the article:
The European Commission today (Feb 9) adopted new measures under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) to prevent the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing, accessories and footwear. The rules will help cut waste, reduce environmental damage and create a level playing field for companies embracing sustainable business models, allowing them to reap the benefits of a more circular economy. Every year in Europe, an estimated 4-9% of unsold textiles are destroyed before ever being worn. This waste generates around 5.6 million tons of CO2 emissions – almost equal to Sweden’s total net emissions in 2021. To help reduce this wasteful practice, the ESPR requires companies to disclose information on the unsold consumer products they discard as waste. It also introduces a ban on the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing accessories and footwear.
My dog is fucking hilarious she showed so much respect to a random elderly lady on the street and my sister was blown away by how sweet she was. And well. The thing about my dog is that it's not enough to love her-she's very aloof and can pick out the "dog people" so to speak- and I'm the only dog person in a family full of cat people.
So my poor family members try their best to get my dog's attention and respect, and always express their surprise about how nice she is to other people lol. I have tried to help, but my family is very difficult to train.
