black clover
Final part of Over-Analyzing Black Clover.Ā Pretty proud of this one... I look at the themes of the show and how they relate to the main character, the genres of fantasy and shonen, and what the series does that other shonen tends to miss.

Part 5 is here in my ongoing series, āOver-Analyzing Black Clover.ā This time, I talk about rivalry in anime, and some shade definitely gets thrown toward the Naruto and My Hero Academia fandoms because Yuno from Black Clover is number 1 rival in anime... and you canāt change my mind.
Somebody, āthe newest thing of the things... that thing is my favorite and the best of all the things.ā
People who have liked the things for many things: ā(heavy sigh)...you basic bitch.ā

Part 4! Letās talk about magic! and character development! and magical character development!

Part 3 of my ongoing series, āOver Analyzing Black Clover.āĀ This one actually got properly analytic toward the end... I love the themes in āBlack Clover,ā and the way the fighting style of the show actually demonstrates Astaās idealism... this show and manga are so GOOD!!
Guys, I made a meme.

I think the title mostly sums it up... but I just love how absolutely amazing all the women in Black Clover are.Ā A refreshing change from the useless stereotypes in classic shonen.

Hello world, Iām back with a new post and a new blog series... Over Analyzing āBlack Clover.ā I just finished getting caught up with the show and the manga, and this is honestly one of my favorite anime ever, and definitely high up on my list of best fantasy stories in general. Ā This first post is mostly just review, but I am psyched to kick off some more in depth analysis with later entries.

A few thoughts on the āhelp Iām trapped in another world genre,ā and why it doesnāt deserve the crap people give it.

So, I wasnāt sure if I was gonna get this up this soon.Ā But I saw a lot of criticisms of Endgame, and I had a lot of thoughts and plenty of extra time this week to get them typed up, so here it is... my blog on Avengers: Endgame.

Well, feeling like living a bit dangerously today. OK internet, here is a post about politics.Ā Try not to beat me up too badly.
I just spent nearly two hours with individuals who see me as a bully on a power trip, trying to convince them that I bear them no specific ill will for the sake of peaceful coexistence.Ā If I told them how I really feel, it would only confirm all their poor opinions of me, despite the fact that those feelings are a direct result of the way they have disparaged my character and accused me of actions I have never in my life deliberately pursued and that I have actively argued against in public forums.
This is the trap.Ā If I am going to have a fruitful and productive life, I have to go through life like a faerie... I have to tell the truth in such a way that it implies a lie.Ā If I want to have a peaceful life, I must go through it telling people that it is my fault that their feelings have been hurt, I must constantly guard my language because heaven knows, my sarcasm, coloquialism, or inside joke might offend someone.
People say the truth will set you free, but the truth is a dangerous fire.Ā I canāt say, āpart of this is your faultā because you are oversensitive, weak, or socially inept; to state these truths is to become the very bully that they accuse me of being.Ā So instead, I put up a calm facade... try to smooth over the feelings... because honesty is counter productive... because people donāt want the truth... they want to live their comforting lie that when uncomfortable things happen, it is always someone elseās fault.
So I walk the faerie line... here is this small truth that you will misinterpret as exactly what you want to hear to confirm your own innocence.Ā I lick metaphoric shoes because society will burn at the stake the witch who legitimately calls people on their bullshit.Ā I want to be a speaker to truth... to tell people what I really think, how I really feel.Ā But I cannot be a āfunctional adult,ā a āproductive member of society,ā if I am willing to tell others what I think about them.Ā Like a dark fae I twist my words, hiding their real meanings behind the pretty illusion that my āvictimā wants to see.

A second post in as many days... thatās what happens during the holiday season when I hit a double header on a discount Tuesday.Ā Some thoughts on the latest installment in the D.C. universe... Damn, Jason Momoa is hot.

First thoughts on "Mary Poppins Returns." Ā Go see it; well worth seeing in theaters. Ā A few small criticisms (because I am a critic and can't help myself), but over all a magical experience that recaptures everything family musicals can and should be.

Short version... go see it, itās awesome! Long version... good characters, cool action, just the right amount of heart/feels.Ā Check out my thoughts on āInto the Spider-Verseā.
Kakashi is straight up my hero
I know I am wwwaaayyy late on the Naruto bandwagon, but as a woma. I need to take a moment to appreciate the fucking legend that is Kakashi Hatake.
Iām working my way through season 4, and thereās this throw away single arc story about the Genin trying to see Kakashiās face.
And the villain is some weasly little punk attacking from the shadows. They show in a flashback that he hates Kakashi because one time, he tried to confess to a girl and Kakashi interrupted.
Actually, what happened was this wanker went out of his way to be nice to a girl, and then when she said no was all like, āwhy wonāt you accept me? Iām rich, I was nice to you, I will treat you well,ā and the girl is basically like āew, gross, no, Iām not interested.
Now what I expected was for the plot to force her to review her prejudices against this jackwagon and eventually give in, because that is always the plot.
Instead what I got was knight in shining armor Kakashi strolling in reading hentai, and heās like, āDude. She said no, means no, back off,ā before proceeding kick the ass of this bastard and his two side kicks for refusing to back off.
That is how men support women. In my experience women often settle for guys they arenāt completely interested in because, āhe is nice, he does have a good job, maybe my standards are too high.ā
Ladies, our standards are never too high. Wait for a guy you are actually interested in... even if itās for shallow reasons. Being āniceā does not mean a man is automatically deserving of attention. Nice should be the bare minimum, not the final say in a relationship.
And to all my dudes out there... be nice, be supportive, take it when a woman says no simply because you arenāt her type, and call out this kind of bullshit when you see it.
Be like Kakashi Hatake.
This has been your public service announcement for the evening.
