i love you people who make fanarts (period.) of cleradin, thank you sosososo much for everything, i owe you my life as a byler and a fantasy nerd as well. i love to see mike as our knight in shining armor, commonly The Heart™ and Will The Wise as either our mighty wizard or cleric.
however.
y'all keep forgetting that Will is an elf and Mike is a halfling. now, i know it's your own takes and it's based on will's painting and on the show and not on their D&D characters!!!! but i have yet to see a fanart with a proper height difference between Mike The Valiant and Will The Wise
consider this my christmas wish (as i alr know byler is becoming canon that day) to see cleradin as they are in D&D: Tayr, a halfling paladin and Will the Wise, an elf wizard -he's a magic user, often a wizard and sometimes a cleric-
What my friends, who had never been to my house before, saw today, on their first visit.💔

Let me confess.
Hi, I want to say that I recently decided to start writing on this imageboard because before I mainly wrote on my now-deleted Telegram channel, or I'm also active on Twitter.
The thing is, I'm a fan of George Martin's work, and I was particularly interested in the Blackfyres, a cadet branch of House Targaryen, as is commonly believed. I'm known for probably giving rise to several rumors, including the one that, for example, we incorrectly identify Daemon Blackfyre as a bastard, since the root of his claim was precisely his legitimization by his father. This is a fact that is being overlooked. And yes, I believe that Aegon IV legitimized only Daemon Blackfyre; with the other great bastards, he got by simply acknowledging them as his children, but this does not equate to giving them rights to the Iron Throne. I think it's necessary to talk more about the Blackfyre rebellion and that only the first rebellion was definitely a rebellion because the future Blackfyre pretenders never swore allegiance to the descendants of Daeron II the Good or to the Westerosi Targaryens, so it's wrong to call the appearance of every Blackfyre pretender a rebellion, but from the point of view of a historian or a maester chronicler in Westeros who is forced to obey the ruling branch on the Iron Throne, yes, this is a rebellion. It is obvious that Daemon Blackfyre, who has both Targaryen parents and who was legitimized, is the more legitimate heir to the Iron Throne. This is because of his mother, Princess Daena Targaryen, who, when all her older male brothers died, became the heir to her father, Aegon III. Martin symbolically demonstrates this by giving Daena her father's necklace, and then Daena Targaryen's son, Daemon Blackfyre, also wears it. I call him Daemon the Elder or Daemon the Father because the Blackfyres had many of the aforementioned daemons. Of course, the Dance of the Dragons showed that you can have problems with female succession, but if we are talking about the right of primogeniture, then Daena Targaryen was the rightful queen until she was ultimately pushed aside in favor of her uncle, Prince Viserys II Targaryen, who was eventually crowned. This was facilitated by both Daena's imprisonment and her inability to have supporters, as well as the fact that she showed herself to be capricious by giving birth to a son and not naming the father, which, of course, turned the devout away from her. She would also likely have been uncontrollable, and her uncle, already successful in managing the monarchy of the Iron Throne, was a more prominent candidate approved by the lords. Oh, this longread is getting really long and I want you to know that yes, I believe that Daemon Blackfyre kind of embodies the rights of his mother that were ignored. The fact that his father, Aegon IV, kind of tells us that they should have been married, especially since Aegon IV was clearly delighted with Daena and therefore sacredly did not love his wife Naerys, comparing her with Daena. He desired Daena, but due to circumstances, he could not break off his marriage with his sister in order to marry his cousin. to be continued...

Tossing a story+world concept that came to me in a dream (thoughts welcome and invited)
(pinned for accessibility and so I don't forget)
Spending more time working on my shapeshifter character concept, and I think it's key to share the 'rules' of this race in my world.
The planet in my (high fantasy-ish) world is in a sphere (sun orbits earth style), in a self contained oort-cloud sized bubble. This bubble is one of many that float in the sea of ethereal essence, basically just a fucking background radiation nothingness.
Every one of these "spheres" is the will of a god/deity, shaping said world and its inhabitants into their image. The main world, Galm, is the result of a Deity self-immolating out of love for its denizens, granting them free will, cut loose from their deity.
Magic in this world is tearing "shapes" into the fabric of the world, and letting the ethereal through. The "shape" determines the effect.
Shapeshifters in my world are the result of a bigass tear in the world, through which a mortal ascended to de-facto godhood. The fallout from this simultaneously created my parasitic jellyfish (another time), AND these shapeshifters. Both operate through the instability of their physical form being MUCH higher due to their flesh being suffused with the ethereal.
Now; shapeshifters were created from a disaster, which this new god would very much like to NOT have associated with him, SO he blames the shapeshifters for the disaster, and gets them exiled to small island fiefdoms.
It's been a LONG time since then and shapeshifters now have their own concept of gender, their own social customs, their own language dependent upon real-time shapeshifting of their voices. They're ostracized by all nearby (due to the faith continuing there) and more-or-less unknown in farther reaches of the world. Their abilities naturally lend them to espionage, and they're highly sought after by spymasters everywhere.
My STORY concept to explore this, is the child of traveling shapeshifters, lost at sea, and saved by some rural farmer humans in a random village. Our protagonist, naturally, is raised with the belief that he's just a cursed human. His family knows nothing about shapeshifters, and they just assume he's a boy because of the form they found him in, giving him a boy name.
He has little shame about his base form, and follows human conceptions of gender, happily working in his village using his "curse" as a party trick. He meets a girl. (Maybe) Has a kid. Learns to write.
Eventually he ends up a clerk for some local magistrate. A local magistrate that a proper shapeshifter is hired to steal from.
So, imagine, our protagonist is working late, relaxed, in his 'baseline' shapeshifter form. Another shapeshifter disguised as a guard comes in, and is just blasted by this human-acting shapeshifter doing paperwork at 11:00pm, not bothering to hide his form.
They try to communicate to him, but our protagonist doesn't know their language. The subtle codes of the shapeshifters. He's married to a human woman and has a job for pete's sake.
Anyways, this new shapeshifter sticks around, trying to figure out just how the hell this guy got here, and trying to get him to hide his nature for their species' safety. He doesn't even believe them. Until, of course, hero's calling. Someone higher up hears about him, and he is hunted for his value to their local queen. He is separated from his wife. On the run.
The proper story is this man needing to find a way to reunite with his family, all while being in the shapeshifter underworld, stuck in a world where gender/sexuality/language/social customs are both more complicated, and more alien to him.
Naturally, the actual plot is that journey to save his reputation (and perhaps that of his race), but CONSTANTLY throughout I want to have him suffering from cultural embarrassment. Older shapeshifters offended by his lack of manners. Him not understanding wildly different modesty protocols. Him grossed out by the complex cuisine of his people. Meeting his TRUE parents, and them being mortified that their child has the cultural knowledge of a toddler.
I think it'd be peak. And tbh would be fun to write, as in DnD I'm the one cishet guy who plays changelings lmfao. I've got a long experience of playing with groups where I'm playing THE noncishet race, but I'm playing him as "just a guy".
We don't need more games on dwarves
I'm sick and tired that all we get in gaming are boring and blank games on dwarves who all look the same, nothing new, nothing interesting, just the same boring games on dwarves and nothing else. meanwhile elves with far more potential and fans don't have a single video game on them and its heartbreaking....
"Have you listened to Taylor's new album yet?"
"...no"
