Finally have all the parts sculpted. The forearms are in the next picture and I kept them separate so they can dry, I only just finished sculpting.
If anyone is interested in my very janky sculpting process, I sculpted all the parts that need to be hollow on knitting needles. I have a dremel but it’s a bit broken so it doesnt do well with hollowing things out. I also covered the knitting needles in masking tape so that nothing gets stuck. Yes I did learn that the hard way, and now I have an unusable pair of knitting needles because there are half finished elbow joints stuck on the ends.
I’ve also officially put blood (gave myself a paper cut on sandpaper), sweat (it’s hot where I live), and tears (got sanding dust in my eye) into this project.
I also figured out what character I’m gonna turn the doll into. I’m thinking nikola orsinov from the magnus archives. I know she’s a mannequin but dolls aren’t too much of a stretch and are still firmly in Stranger territory.

I’m not a photographer by any means, and there’s a lot of things about these two that I’m not thrilled about but I’m not unhappy about them either. They’re some of my first customs, it makes sense that they look a bit off. Glad I finished in time for pride month, though. Might do a few more updates if I ever make them new clothes or accessories.
The creature got very curious
finishing the gays in time for pride month! The angle and lighting are both horrid here but I hopefully will be able to get some better photos outside. This isn’t everything, I have made three outfits for each of them along with some half-finished accessories (painting set for Darren, tool kit for cicada, etc) the heads I ordered were in 1/6th scale and the bodies were advertised as 1/6th as well but they ended up being closer to 1/7th so they head are a bit too large for the bodies and it looks a bit odd but the heads were unfortunately made of ABS so I couldn’t shrink them without melting them. There are a lot of things I’m unhappy with but I’ve made peace with them because these are my fisrt customs and I’ve already made better ones
i imagine that Montparnasse refuses to learn how to braid his own hair because he’s afraid Jehan won’t do it anymore if he does (he’s wrong)

more progress on my ball jointed doll
I added more clay to all the joints and then I sanded everything. Also sculpted the top and middle parts of the torso as well as the thighs. They don’t fit together super well right now, but I’m hoping sanding will fix that. I’m definitely the most proud of the hip joints but they are still a bit rough looking
was just mindlessly drawing a random character before realizing that I was thinking about Jehan at the time so I have decided that this is Jehan now
was kind of just going off of vibes. I love the trope of characters with big hair being able to just store things in there and I imagine there is always at least one pencil in there at any given time.
My gouache is molding
I opened my himi jelly gouache after a year or so of not using it and it looks like this:
Is there any way to reverse this? I had no idea there was a time limit on them. Is there some way I can get rid of the mold without just throwing out or otherwise ruining the paints? Can I just mix it in or will that make it worse?
what sucks is that I also just recently got a new himi gouache set in metallic colours and I don’t want it to happen to that one either. Is there a way I can preemptively prevent it? Does this just happen with all himi gouaches?
this is wild I’ve tried to grow mold in science classes before and this is the most successful mold I’ve ever grown but it is unfortunately in my paints.

I’m waiting on a Black Ship Oil Painting body! Very excited, it’s my first resin bjd :) I can’t find a good head sculpt for the character I want her to be, so I think I might try to sculpt and cast a custom one

Intelligence: 0.1/10 there is not a single thought behind those eyes
Dexterity: 6/10 He is large, so dexterity is reduced
special abilities:
Opposable thumbs: He can hold knives. And probably other things as well, but mainly knives.
Fluff: It’s like the fungus from the last of us it spreads everywhere and he can sense things through it
and the bowl of cucumbers gets a solid 6/10 on all stats.

sculpted all the joints yesterday. they need sanding and the head is temporary but this project actually exists now which is fun
my hubris has led me to believe I can sculpt my own ball jointed doll. just some general sketches of my concept. hope to start actually sculpting soon
