I’m trying my hand at resin casting. these are the first halves of the two-part silicon molds. I have enough silicon and resin to probably cast the whole doll, however I unfortunately decided to do this only after I sueded the doll. so these are just the joints. this also means I can sculpt other dolls with different body shapes though, so that’s going to be nice. Im trying my best without a pressure pot, which isn’t ideal since the silicone I had on hand had a six minute working time and a ten minute cure time. so this might not even work out.

Nothing against digitally sculpted dolls per se, but the huge speed these dolls are sculpted and sent to production is why now you have to wait 5-6 months for your dolls.
Back in the ol' days, artists would need months to years to finish a doll, digitally it can be done in weeks. Now new dolls are sent weekly to the very few little casters available for artists, and the factories can't deal with the workload as fast as they used to, even if they hire more people.
More new dolls require processing and making molds, so the casting factories spend more time making new molds than actually casting those dolls. And those lumpy and poor engineered new dolls take even extra time, since most factories will do their best to fix those issues before casting.
Not to mention that the amount of new dolls released is not sustainable anymore for such a niche market, and the dolls ordered in every pre-order diminishes, so factories have to make all the processing and mold making to end up casting less dolls, that is what actually makes profit for them. So they are forced to take more orders from artists in order to keep the money coming.
And so the waiting times keep getting longer, and longer...
Idk if I can put this here but TiffiesBJDcasting is honestly not the one. Her communication with me was absolutely terrible. Literally left on seen at all times. Her way of running a business kind of sucks. She’s getting popular but that’s only because she’s the only caster located in the US. I received some samples from her and they were deformed and the colors weren’t that pretty. Honestly wouldn’t recommend her. International shipping maybe a b-tch but I’d do it with other casters.
I will be making a crowdfunding for casting Queen of Africa professionally soon. I have two variants: a Russian professional with quite a lot of Bjds cast already (his castings show one of the best quality in Russia) and Haru Casting. I really want to try Haru as their resin will most likely be closer to that of other established companies. But I may face problems with customs as 10 copies of one doll will be hard to consider for personal use only.
LT CR4F7's dolls are such shit quality with the bubbles and bobbling of the bodies that you just wonder why he still hasn't upgraded his methods of making them. Then again if he can get people's money without making much of an effort on his part I wouldn't fix my shit up either.

We had Har0castings own message reveal where they posted the entirety of Cul0rs orders. Which did NOT include all the ordered dolls, but instead included some random dolls which weren't even offered. (Olive green was one if I remember right.)
Btw Har0casting revealing the order sheet was after Cul0r claimed and made a long post about Har0casting refusing to fulfil the order and refusing to finish them.
Several people, and I mean several people, sent in their purchase receipt on here, with some being cancelled, while others said they'd not gotten their dolls yet. (From the receipt it was pretty easy to discern if this was a lie or not, especially since this was during a time where Cul0r openly communicated)

4. Cul0r herself LITERALLY had to give away dolls from her own collection to certain buyers, (*cough only the bigger and more popular ones cough*) which included an almond head, and I think one of her yellow doll.
5. Cul0r herself initially admitted to fucking up the orders (before she blamed Har0) but claimed it was an accident and she'd send the missing orders in for Har0casting to do. (Which was when she turned and blamed it all on Har0, and then made Har0 drop not only the order receipts as mentioned in Point: 1, but also revealed private messages of Cul0r admitting to fucking up the orders and all number of good stuff.)
i really want to be a doll sculptor, but the social media aspect of sales sounds like an absolute nightmare. i don't really want to be famous or anything, but it seems like you need to have an audience if you actually want to sell enough dolls to meet minimums and break even on casting costs 🥲 as much as i want to make dolls and have them be actually accessible, i just can't imagine the hustle of trying to get followers being good for my mental health, yknow?
