#MarchMeetheMaker Day 3: Time As a #crafter and #smallbusinessowner with executive function issues galore, time is forever the enemy. (Note how it's the 5th and I'm still on Day 3! 😂) When I have a big event the next day, it's not unusual for me to be up until the small hours of the morning, finishing tasks that I've had weeks to prepare for - not because I didn't want to do them or know that they needed to get done, just because schedules never quite go as planned, however carefully I try to account for all the details and ration my spoons accordingly. Getting a late start to #MarchMeettheMaker because... well, I forgot 😅 (Thanks for the reminder, @kellywoveit!) * * * Day 1's prompt is "Story" - which is auspicious, because "story" is what drives Elden and every scent I create. Even before I considered myself a perfumer, I was always thinking about the narrative of fragrances. A good perfume doesn't just throw together notes that smell good, but writes a story with its scent - how it opens, how it evolves, how all the notes interact with one another... Take Harlequin's Kiss from our Rogues Gallery collection, for instance: it's a very bright, sugary scent, so much that you might even find it TOO sweet on the top notes. But that's not all it is... The longer you get to know it, the more facets of its personality come through, giving it a darker edge, showing new elements of both vulnerability and strength, weaving complexity through each new breath you take. That's what I strive to do with every new fragrance I design.
