I worked in a supermarket for 7 years and I don't think I can understate just how much cleaning you had to do for it to look clean (it very often where not in the places you aren't supposed to see)

True for food service, retail establishments, gyms, outdoor areas, schools, religious buildings, office buildings, etc. People usually only notice when a space is NOT clean, meanwhile every time a space is clean it’s only because of the diligent work of janitors, maintenance staff, custodians, parks workers, or volunteers.

Ohhh, I see. That is a very difficult situation indeed. Still, your child is lucky to have someone who can teach her. I have heard the worst about the US-school system. Schools in general do seem to generally train people to only have enough critical thinking skills to be able to do their job and not a lick more, as well as teaching you to obey to authority no matter what (no matter how much they teach about the dangers of authoritarianism on a government scale, as if the mindset of obedience wasn't born out of early education... but I digress). Still, I am convinced that the public school system is better than the level of indoctrination that some people are subject to. Religious indoctrination and white supremacy soon come to mind, as well as a general disregard for science. It is also true that not every child who cannot access the school system has an adult who can teach them. I think there should be more alternative programs to help with that. Where I'm from (and this was on a mostly voluntary basis), there were travelling teachers, that brought teaching materials to families who lived isolated in the narrow valleys, and stayed for a few weeks to teach the children in their own home. Mind you, this was before the internet, and the parents were usually illiterate. I wonder if similar programs exist (but actually funded). People raging against homeschooling as a general concept probably haven't ever left the city or had to deal with inaccessibility and discrimination.
