2026, week 23 (june 1st - june 7th)

accomplishments this week:

went through some more training at work. I'm slowly becoming more confident that I know what I'm doing in this new role!

finished ch. 5 of Malware Data Science

started a programming project to practice on some of the data from the book + get back into Rust. I have been humbled by the compiler errors haha

highlights this week:

bought cherries at the farmer's market :D

the new game changer episode was so much fun to watch

hung out with my partner on the weekend & fixed up + homebrewed a wii we got a while back!

I played quite a bit of persona 5 royal

the only drawback to john green's TB advocacy is that when people discover i have an encyclopedic knowledge of tuberculosis history and drug development they ask if it's related. need a t-shirt that says "i was into TB before john green made it cool".

Been pretty quiet on here these past few days. Not doing a lot; struggling to get the bare minimum done. Still being consumed by The Pitt- I am Robby & he is me. I’ll finish the show once I’m done with studying for today. For now I’m glad that I managed to get at least something done…

trying to stay motivated and not freak myself out in the days before my exam, the waiting after half my cohort has already passed is the worst 🥲 🥲 acomaf is one of the only things holding me together rn

current plan for monday, the day before my exam:

9 am workout class followed by sauna

study flashcards

walk dog

12 lunch

clean a bit

30 min practice chalk talk

study 1-2 hours

relax (as much as possible)

bake something for dessert

not academic but look at these beautiful autumn colours during sunset! melb during golden hour is absolutely beautiful. running has become my new hobby and obviously, i'm terrible at it but it is a start.

i've largely had a productive week! some days i randomly get really exhausted and have to nap for hours to recover, though. i also feel a bit lost in my group meetings, like i am not making as much progress as people in my research group. i have a year but i hope i submit a really strong phd proposal. i'm struggling to find grounding with my pet project at the moment.
