Right?? Like wha- why are you here?? I mean, I’m happy and it’s nice to see you (please...for the love of everything...be in the 1.4 story. I know I shit on you a lot but you’re probably my second favourite character). 

That is actually so crippling. Trying to weight your options. To be fair, if you can get super lucky and get a 5 star pull before soft pity I think you might be able to grind enough with all the new events if we are comparing the mondstadt festival to the liyue one. 

I think it comes down to gameplay if you can’t choose who you like just on personal desire. If you need a dps or a support or not. Both have their faults. For example, Childe is a great dps (probably the best aoe dps because of riptide or a 1 shot ult nuke) but his e cooldown is long if you don’t know how to manage it or you don’t have constellations. If you’re planning on getting Rosaria as well then she might appear on Childe banner too. 

Venti is great, his ult makes spiral abyss easy. But you don’t really need him imo. I think Sucrose is perfectly fine to sub in if you don’t have him. The small issue you may have is that there are way too many dps characters and having Venti is basically turning on easy mode for genshin. It’s a pve game (player vs environment) so you don’t NEED Childe in order to do damage or have a fun time.
