I actually have a question , Iâm definetly an infj, but when I read about introverted feeling I think ( hey, thatâs actually me). I have values that emphasize on helping others, but I attach to them regardless of the situation, so I do want to help others, but I want to do whatâs right and only I decide whatâs right, in kind of stubborn in this way, could you explain a little bit the differences between Fi and Fe? And also maybe why an infj could think he has a lot of Fi? Thanks
Iâve been observing an interesting conversation elsewhere about whether self-acceptance comes from within (Fi) or without (Fe), so Iâll use that as an example (thereâs also plenty of other posts comparing the two in the archives).
Every FJ Iâve ever spoken to can be âperked upâ with external affirmation (and every Fe-user Iâve ever met, for that matter); them being told itâs okay to be themselves, that what they are doing is productive and useful, that they need not adapt or hide but can simply self-express and that itâs okay⌠is what their Fe likes and needs to hear. A few simple kind words can perk most of them up.
A Fiâs job is harder, because external affirmation may be nice, but it cannot quell the internal monologue until the Fi comes to a place of self-acceptance. You can hear all kinds of nice, affirming, reassuring things, and yes, itâs lovely, but it will not make a dent in your mental state until YOU decide you are okay. This is one reason Fiâs are often accused of having âintense internal angst.â Because they are continually struggling against themselves, often measuring their deeds up to a set of internal values (and if perfection is involved, watch out), and no amount of external reassurance or affirmation can pull them out of it. Only THEY can pull themselves out of it. They cannot hear you, until the inner voice stops.
Itâs the difference between saying âbeing around all these accepting people and seeing them be brave enough to be honest about their true selves made me accept myself and stop hiding behind a false frontâ (Fe) and âI had to come to a quiet place of self-acceptance and realize I could not live without being authentic, but it was my own fault that I had gotten so deep into this lie and caused this mess before I could move forwardâ (Fi).

Being raised without stability really fucks with your head, youâre forever trying to figure out a personâs âpatternâ to see how you have to approach them, whether theyâre in a good mood and itâs safe, or if theyâre in a bad mood and you have to be careful or maybe avoid them altogether, just because those who raised you could never keep a consistent emotional reaction

Relief when...
With the lower functions, itâs often a âreliefâ to have other people step in and do it for you, since you are sometimes aware (and often not) of an enormous blind spot in your cognitive stack. Maybe itâs useful to think of inferior function typing in terms of what causes you to feel anxiety / stress and relief when others more competent in that area can step forward and either help you or do it for you?
Under this theory, youâd feel relief (especially when young) when:
ENXP: someone fact-checks and remembers details for you, they step in and provide detailed information to discussions so you can get it right, rather than you trying to rely on a faulty memory / broad generalizations / non-specifics (the person who âbrings the accurate detailsâ and/or examples to the table).
ESXP: someone who can help you intuit and read between the lines, to form single conclusions, and/or who can help you decide on a futuristic vision for your life and help you âwork backwardâ to know how to âmake it real.â
EXTJ: someone better versed in emotional dynamics who understands their motives and how emotions motivate others can explain othersâ decisions to you and/or help bring out your own emotions through elimination of âthe factsâ (in other words, someone who could edit and soften something you wrote, in order to avoid offending someone else and/or make your point sound kinder).
EXFJ: someone with an instinctive knowledge of how things work, and what rational systems are, who can problem-solve and fix broken machines for you, or teach you how to do so yourself, so you can free your Fe up to socializing and core motivational interaction with others and not need to analyze as much.
IXFP: someone steps in to help you verbalize what you want, and come up with a workable plan on how to accomplish it, or helps you reason out the factual consequences of your choices, so you can better understand the impact.
IXTP: someone better versed in dealing with emotional dynamics helps you to soften and/or mature your emotional approach, and/or becomes a barrier between you and the external world, automatically helping you soften your approach in order to gain the approval you seek; sometimes, this can be as simple as telling you what is âexpected from you in this social situation,â so, with relief, you can fulfill whatever role the people around you need.
INXJ: someone who pays attention to the outside world, who can remember where you keep objects and help you find them when you (inevitably) lose them; who has better reflexes than you and is confident in engaging with sensory reality, and who can help you navigate through it successfully.
ISXJ: someone skilled with coming up with ideas on the fly, who can easily look beyond the surface and help you consider multiple positive potential outcomes, and who can help you brainstorm in order to come up with your own ideas.

When the social battery dies.
Confession #5
I often feel guilty for not feeling bad, or not caring, for things that I know I probably should.
Being an INTJ doesnât get you anything in life unless you figure out a way to use your Te in a healthy way.
me writing dialogue:Â âwhat is man but a vessel through which a higher entity may see? what is his purpose? must he find a purpose? we are but stardust; the universe comprehending itself.â
me writing action: they ran real fast from the bad men aand legs hurty
me writing action: Her legs pounded against the earth, the familiar jolt grounding her like nothing else could. Magic, gods, royaltyâshe didnât know anything about that. But running? Thatâs something sheâd been doing since day one.
me writing dialogue: âI dunno man whatchu wanna doâ âI dunno. What do you think?â âHey man I donât knowâ
me writing action: room go boom
me writing dialogue: noppity nope, that ainât dope
The holy trinity of writing

when people post their type as âINTJ-Aâ or âINFJ-Tâ and thereby tell you that they took that shitty 16personalities test and know nothing about MBTI and should better shut up and learn before participating in any MBTI-related discussion
