It’s been a stressful day on Twitter and I’m getting a bit tired of how people dismiss the importance of Jeremy, Cat, and Laila in Jean’s life (even when it’s not about shipps).
People always talk as if they, especially Jeremy, were just placeholders or "the best Jean could get since he couldn't be with Kevin and Neil," making them seem replaceable the moment they fulfill their role of healing Jean so he can go back to the people he truly wants.
Those people are his FAMILY, and he said, in his own words and with his own mouth, that he would choose them EVERY TIME.
I’m always so genuinely baffled by people that walk away with that take on them like I read the series as very much no one else could fill the void not Kevin not Neil not revenge but Jeremy cat and Laila and the Trojans do finally fill that void and it’s forever not replaceable to the point that even reading the explanation of this kinda made me mad.
Who is genuinely leaving thinking Jean’s forever family is supposed to be Neil and Kevin and not this group of love bugs he’s fallen into. Because the thing with Jean is is that he never really fit into the world of their mafia he always had to find something new and Jeremy and Cat and Laila are that something new, not settling?
Maybe I’m also writing a fanfic about Jean as Eurydice but that Jeremy (and his collective group of friends) where the Orpheus’s that looked. Neil, Renee, and Kevin saved him physically, by actually not looking back and getting him out of hell, but The Floozies looked at him because they cared and an Orpheus that doesn’t look doesn’t care, and am far too invested. Could totally have a bias but you know.
