want to share some of your pride headcanons? i’ll put some questions in more!

lister is the most bisexual ever, rimmer is so very gay, kryten... kryten i do not know.......... probably either pan or aroace tbh. andddd the cat is either bi or pan to me i think. WAIT ALSO holly is lesbian to. me

2) when do you think the characters worked it out (if they do)?

i think that lister would have worked it out when he was very young and is very open about his sexuality just sort of as a result of 23rd century culture rimmer would have worked it out only in his time as a hologram. deep space gives you a lot of time to think about things i would like to think it's in kryten's programming so he would have just known forever the cat has always lived on red dwarf i feel like he wouldn't have to have questioned it. especially because his religion is based off of lister and lister is bisexual anyway so

3) do you headcanon any characters as trans?

rimmer and lister are both transmasc to me (this is because i love projecting mostly) <3 t4t rimster......................... and i also like torturing rimmer. give that man more issues because he thinks that being 'born a girl' was letting his parents down even more than everything else that was going on in his childhood........... and then in reference to my answer to q2 i think he would have seen being trans as so much of a hassle already that he just. repressed that he was also gay a LOT!!! and holly is transfem and genderfluid to me. this is already kind of canon anyway but still

4) what would the red dwarf crew wear to a pride parade?

lister would almost definitely wear his leathers (helllll yes) and also probably a rainbow shirt. and i can see him wearing some of those like plastic rainbow heart sunglasses. does anyone know what i'm talking about rimmer. i don't knoww i feel like there is an entire contradiction i can create here. EITHER: he would refuse to dress up at all and would MAYBE wear a pride pin with his usual uniform. OR if he was out enough i think he'd go in drag. whether he'd go as a drag king or a drag queen is up to you kryten would probably match lister with the sunglasses and would carry a progress pride flag with him too :-) cat would obviously hand make a suit for the occasion. every element would be a different colour of the rainbow making HIM the flag

5) do they own any pride merch? (like pins etc)

lister has a bi and trans flag on his bunk wall and hand painted patches on his leather jacket. i think rimmer would probably uh. i can't see him having much really. maybe a rainbow badge and MAYBE some tiny flags in his bunk. it would be cute if he hand painted them with his watercolours so he could match with lister kryten would probably only have accessories BUT ALSO rainbow cleaning utensils where possible. running around the dwarf with a rainbow feather duster during pride month the cat would have a very fancy brooch and i can't see him having much else tbh

6) what’s the characters’ queer anthems that they just scream the lyrics to?

iiiiiii uhhhhhhhhhh i don't knoww. i think lister would like a lot of queer pop artists like lady gaga and stuff

7) if you said yes to trans headcanons, what’s the backstory behind their trans names?

i don't know for this one either........ i never really thought about this..........

8) who did they come out to first?

lister would have been very open with his grandmother about his gender and sexuality as a kid rimmer would have come out to lister first kryten and cat wouldn't have really needed to bring it up unless they were like directly asked i guess ? if that makes any sense. like cat would kiss some guy and rimmer and lister would be like "woah cat didn't know you were queer" and he'd just be like "well you never asked"

9) what’s a popular LGBTQ+ headcanon in the fandom you personally disagree with?

i am not the biggest fan of transfem rimmer i'm not gonna lie. don't killm e please
