Happy Pride to Bobby Moch who almost got his ass spanked on a train
Happy Pride to Don Hume who tried to join the French army for a dude he met on summer vacation
Happy Pride to Joe Rantz who was super into his wife which, if you think about it, is kinda gay
Happy Pride to Shorty Hunt who was always showing up with a snatched waist, coiffed hair, and a sexy tan
Happy Pride to Jim McMillin who, in classic queer fashion, after graduation decided to split his time between top secret government missions and telling half-naked men what to do
Happy Pride to Johnny White who thinks everything is foul, an unfortunately common side effect of someone deep in the closet
Happy Pride to Gordy Adam who Cows
Happy Pride to Chuck Day who loved putting things in his mouth
Happy Pride to Roger Morris who insisted on wearing the sluttiest shorts known to man in front of the basically the entire world

Their reconciliation is helped, of course, by the fact that just because Don put his foot in his mouth does not mean that Dale has stopped writing to him, and, by extension, Bobby. Don dutifully shares Dale's letters with Bobby when asked and sends back Bobby's replies. It makes him feel a little like he's been replaced as Dale's big brother, if he thinks about it too hard, so he tries not to. And then the worst happens. Of course it's to be expectedâor Don should have expected it, has even told Bobby that he was anticipating itâgiven that Dale is nearly thirteen and beginning to feel the first, confusing stirrings of teenage desire for his peers. Still, Don is blindsided by the request until he considers it more carefully and realizes that, while Don received a fumblingly awkward explanation of the birds and the bees from his father, Dale has no one to give him a similar run-down of how things work between two men. Except, through Don, Bobby Moch. It's hard to tell which part of it is more horrifyingâthe prospect of having to explain sex to Dale, or the prospect of having to ask Bobby to help him explain it. Don's mind rebels at the thought of his baby brother being old enough to even want to know, let alone the thought of actually talking with him about it. For once, he's glad they can only communicate through letter. "He's old enough to wonder," Bobby says, when Don screws up his courage two days after receiving the letter and passes on the request. He had half-hoped Bobby would agree that Dale is too young and decline to help, but no such luck. "Weren't you curious about girls at that age?" Don wasn't, really, but he supposes Bobby is right. Most of his classmates were; Don was just a late bloomer. Still is, if he's honest. But if Dale is developing normally, just on the opposite side of things, Don owes it to him to give him all the information he won't get anywhere else. Bobby rolls his eyes at Don's grudging agreement. "Well, I'll be as euphemistic as I can. Will that make you feel better?" It would, if Don trusted Bobby at all to succeed. "I'll be euphemistic," he says. "You tell it to me straight, and I'll relay it to him when I'm home next. I can't risk putting any of that in a letter, even if it is all euphemisms."

21 & 25 for Jim :)
(from this ask game)
Jim!! <3
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
Ahh I just love writing Jim being Good. He has such a big, gentle heart and I love writing him as really putting in the work to take care of his guys/the team. This sounds silly but in all facets of his life I see him as like, a soft dom, lol.
What I don't like?? About writing Jim?? I'm stumped.
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
Okay this is terrible but when I first saw the movie I couldn't tell you who was who for like half the crew and Jim was definitely part of that đ (I think I got him and Johnny mixed up for a long time) so I guess my first impression was "huh? Which one?" Lmao 9 people are a lot to keep track of!
Now I love Jim to bits. In my top 3 favs for sure. He's a gentle giant and I love him!!
Happy WIP Wednesday Friday!
I was tagged by @effervescentyellow YAY! Thank you, friend! It's been a while since I've done one of these. Share a little snippet of something you've been working on if you like :)
Since I'm working on a million fics right now (thank you ADHD, I need psychological help), I'm gonna post two snippets, one from a coxstroke fic and one from my new WIP: Star Wars byler
It hurt to open your eyes when you were in the ocean. The salt made it hard to keep them open for a long time and it was always difficult to see, no matter what kind of water you were in. Thatâs what goggles had always been for, to protect your eyes and help you see. Don kept his eyes open and let them burn. Maybe if the salt irritated them long enough, it would burn the image of Shortyâs mutilated corpse from his retinas. Maybe if he drank enough salt water, it would erase the taste of Shortyâs blood. Maybe if he held his breath long enough⌠no. Don sat up and shivered as the cold night air settled over his skin.
And now for Star Wars byler (someone save me from myself)
âYou dream of her.â Will was thrown from his restless meditation at the sound of his masterâs voice. He opened his eyes and slowly stood, the stone floor cold against his bare feet. He could feel his masterâs disgust as clearly as he felt his own emotions, and he turned to face the open door. âSometimes.â âWhat a waste of time.â Lord Vecnaâs lips curled into a sneer as he examined Will. Will knew that he was hunting for weaknesses, for anything to use against him. âThe dark side allows attachment, yes, but your sister is a traitor to our ways. You would do well to remember that, my young apprentice.â âYes, my lord.â Will bowed his head in submission as Vecna stepped closer. He didnât want to think about the day El left, but he couldnât help it. It was as if the Force wanted him to see her face in his dreams, like she was a reminder of something. Of my weakness.
I think everyone I usually tagged has been tagged, so participate if you want :)

WIP Wednesday (late)
Tagged by @effervescentyellow but I was illllll so I'm doing it now!
I'm trying to be serious about my promise to myself to finish at least some of my wips before I start more stuff, so here's a snippet from the long-ago promised sequel to Strawberry Sunscreen:
âFor want of a handkerchief, huh? You canât tell me youâve been admiring my handiwork this whole time,â Chuck says, still grinning. On closer inspection, the pink of his sunburn continues across his cheekbones and up around to his forehead, like a rosy bandit mask. Roger wants to touch it, see if itâs blush-warm against his fingertips. He shakes himself. âNo, I was - youâre sunburned.â Chuck huffs a soft laugh and, with the hand not holding his handkerchief, does what Roger wasnât brave enough - or impulsive enough - to do. His fingers are cool against the flushed skin of Rogerâs throat, where his shirt collar must have slipped down often enough to expose the paler skin there to the sun. âI hate to be the bearer of bad news, but so are you.â Itâs just the contrast against his sunburned skin making the cool shock of Chuckâs touch electrifying, like ice cream in the midday heat. Roger canât quite explain why Chuckâs touch, too, makes him sick to his stomach, makes him flinch away with a hiss even though the pain of the burn hasnât yet set in.
Tagging no one because I'm laaaaaate D: but if anyone else wants to jump in late also feel free!
Finished all but one final paper and decided I could afford to go back to my silly fanfiction so
Happy WIP Wednesday !

Hereâs from a fic I kept gabbing about but didnât think Iâd actually write:
The jockey stuck out his hand. âBob Moch.â
âYeah, IâŚâ You couldnât be in the racing world and not know Bobby Moch. He was known for his cheeky, stubborn personality and for the daring way he raced, and, before last year, he was known for winning. Don knew Ulbrickson and Pocock had worked with him plenty before, but that didnât explain why he was here.
âDon Hume. Iâm the assistant trainer.â He stuck out a hand before realizing how grimy it was and half-panicked, letting it hover awkwardly in midair.
Bobby shook it anyway and then wiped his hand off on the running shirt he was wearing. âYep, Al said Iâd find you. This is Clipper?â
âClip,â Don said, and when Bobby inched closer, reaching out a flat palm, he hurriedly added. âShe likes to bite.â
Bobby laughed, âSo do I,â but took his hand back.
