Good. He likes hearing that. He also likes the spike in Adam’s scent.

Confidence, pride, excitement.

It’s a mix so strong Grubi can’t help but lean in and scent the big, strong alpha, his nose practically buried in Adam’s neck.

“You like the way I smell?” the Swede asks, and Grubi ignores the amusement coloring his voice. Instead, his purr is answer enough. “Guess my shower was thorough enough then.”

There are some more chuckles around them, and he’s sure he hears Burky comment something. He ignores it. While he loves having Burky’s familiar scent around he’s more focused on all those happy and contented scents – until there’s one that doesn’t fit.

Turning away from Adam, he follows his nose, follows his instincts to see where this dissonance is coming from. He already knows, of course, so when his eyes land on his favorite – and only – omega defenseman, he almost grins in victory.

Because Grubi knows what jealousy smells like.

And in this case, it’s exactly what he was waiting for.
