Also it just feels really weird because its such a story driven game. But they wanted to make it more open world I guess? And it just does not work for something that has a tight story like this. Again ruins the pacing and tone of it all. The first time you switched to Alan's perspective, the game forces you to at a time that was right for it, and it made sense with the events going on in Sagas story to then go back and see what Alan had saw before. Letting you choose to go between characters though breaks the flow especially since once you switch you can not switch back. And you have no idea what you are jumping into so you dont know if its good to switch from one to another. I genuinely dont understand why they cant let you experience the story beats linearly (not chronologically, mind you, that I dont mind at all and actively enjoy things being out of order). They could reveal things with one character then switch back to another when it would make sense to. But that would be too restrictive of the players agency? I guess? Even though so many video games have been done like this forever. Why does the game need to have an open world map that you can explore when its all empty streets with no npcs, no posters, absolutely barren? Why was the first game so bad to you that you had to change it? Because I can tell you now, people didnt call the game bad because it was linear or because sections of map would be blocked off if nothing was relevant there. It was because the combat got rough at times LOL.
