🟢 Chapter 2: Discharge 🟢

In which a Bureau of Standards clerk decides an addendum about fuel routing merits personal delivery to the ISB, and an ISB supervisor fabricates a clerical discrepancy that requires in-person clarification, and these two flawless professionals arrive at the same terminal at the same time armed with excuses that survive exactly one second of eye contact.

Neither of them planned past the part where the conversation started. Neither of them will admit that fifteen minutes became forty.

Featuring: the first entry in Dedra’s ledger she has no plan for how to close out.

🟢 Chapter 22: What they build 🟢

Three in the morning, Ferrix time. A comm unit, a dark room, a sleeping child, and a voice Jyn has never heard belonging to a woman who found her by reading Krennic’s hidden accounts. They have never met. They will not waste time. One of them wants him gone. The other one already said yes.

Two mothers, one enemy, and the quietest declaration of war ever spoken over an encrypted channel: “We have the same problem.”

🟢 Chapter 5: Acceptance 🟢

The last chapter. Krennic arrives at the Maltheen Divide, watches the shuttles come in, and stands at a window doing what he’s been doing for five chapters: noting things about her that he has no operational reason to note anymore.

Partagaz gets one last line that he doesn’t explain. Krennic doesn’t ask him to.

🟢 Chapter 1: Debt 🟢

Canon gave us the storeroom and then gave us the S2 domestic nightmare a year later and simply refused to elaborate. Fine. I’ll elaborate.

Five chapters of the gap: Dedra trying to file “he saved my life” under accounts payable and finding the paperwork keeps rejecting itself. Syril learning that the reward for months of being told to go away is one wordless moment in the dark and the entirely new problem of what to do with it. Two people who are terrible at this in perfectly compatible ways, maneuvering each other into a relationship the way other people maneuver assets into position.

Featuring: fabricated clerical discrepancies as a courtship strategy, the phrase “liability if encouraged,” and Dedra Meero being a reliable narrator of everyone’s intentions except her own.

She’s not falling for him. She’s assessing utility. The assessment is just taking several weeks and happening over lunch.

🟢 Chapter 4: First Article 🟢

Krennic and Dedra are finally in the same room. He’s spent a month building a complete picture of her from files and a hired man’s reports. She walks in and reads him in approximately four minutes.

Also: the Galen Erso parallel gets named out loud for the first time. Krennic is very pleased with himself about it. He should not be.

🟢 Chapter 21: The Flag 🟢

The flag on a Ferrix repair shop’s file has been sitting in the Imperial system for years — inactive, ignored, a fixed point. This morning it’s gone. Not actioned. Not escalated. Closed: nothing of interest. And eleven days later, a message arrives through a channel that carries parts orders, three items long, no header, no name. Two of them are things nobody alive should know. The third is a sentence: I have two sons. He named one after himself.

Jyn Erso has been hiding for over a year, and someone just proved they found her — by choosing not to.

🟢 Chapter 3: Chain of Custody 🟢

Krennic pulls Syril Karn’s file and cannot for the life of him work out what she sees in him. Then he does something about that feeling which is, to be clear, not jealousy. He is very sure it is not jealousy. He simply has concerns. About asset security. Professionally.
