hello dropping a request for symbols w/ reference hjshjshjs
Neuter / spay / heat
I used mostly the same colours as in your references, please let me know if you need any changes!
Neuter: a light blue Mars symbol with a blue paw at the centre of the circle, a red dotted line splits the symbol in half.
Spay: a light pink Venus symbol with a blue paw at the centre of the circle, a red dotted line splits the symbol in half.
Heat: a light pink Venus symbol with a blue paw at the centre of the circle, there is a pair of blood droplets coming off the paw and a yellow clock next to the symbol.
seeing the publics general love and positivity for rocky and his speech patterns as someone who is selectively mute, often speaks like rocky, and dreams to one day use AAC in a similar way to him is so heartwarming and gives me hope.
phm fans please continue to spread positivity about beings of all verbal capabilities and the use of AAC ❤️💫

I have several boards I use to specifically talk about pain with my AAC. There are some things I would change. There are many parts I think are valuable. Under the cut are the pages with full image descriptions and explanations.
These are all from a former grid size which does not support my vision access needs at this point in time. Because the grid size did not meet my vision access needs most of the buttons are double sized.
Main/Hub Page
ID: A page on TD Snap with teal, blue, and green buttons. In the upper left corner are the buttons The pain feels, Constantly, Intermittently. The majority of the page is a type of pain with a description of the pain sensation beneath it. They are as follows:
Aching, steady and might get worse when I move. Burning, like pins and needles, sharp, and prickling. Cramping, sudden, unexpected tightness in a muscle. Crunchy, like painful crackling or popping. Numb, like the muscle isn't there, or has no sensation.
Sore, like a very dull ache. Tingling, like the body part has fallen asleep, but it still hurts, or like TV static. Pinching, like sharp, acute tightness. Pulsing, like it ebbs and flows, like a heartbeat. Radiating, like it is reaching out to other parts of my body around it. Sharp, acute and sudden in a specific spot, not as intense as stabbing pain.
Shooting, like a line of pain along the body part. Stabbing, sharp, specific, like someone stabbing the body part. Like I am weak, like it is making my body part weaker or more difficult to move.
In teal are the phrases I don't want to say, I can't remember, I don't know. Along the bottom of the page are links to the pages Pain Scale, Pain Size, Pain Duration, and Pain Timeline. End ID.
This is the main page. This is for what is usually a very important part of communicating pain, at least for me and in my experience. I have a hard time telling pain apart. Doctors often want to know what the pain feels like and I have found that describing it is more effective than just saying "shooting," "burning," stuff like that. All pain symbols are off of AACIL by the way.
As a note I usually try to make sure I have a way to say I don't want to say, I don't know, and/or I can't remember. When I use my AAC in emergencies I am very vulnerable. I cannot move at all. I need to be able to quickly communicate these ideas because silence is usually not taken as one of those ideas and I risk having my AAC taken away or moved.
From this page it gets broader (pain scale) or more specific (size, duration, timeline).
Pain Size
ID: A page on TD Snap with white, yellow, orange, red, and pink buttons. The first button is a sentence stem and the other buttons describe sizes which gradually increase, and ends with several sentences.
In order, the buttons read The pain is the size of, pinprick, coin, some of body part, whole body part, several body parts, whole body, the pain is everywhere, random, I don't want to say, I don't know where the pain is, I can't remember. End ID.
This is to describe the size of the pain. What I would change is have it go to the body parts page for some of these. Or to add a body parts folder to the main page. Even just to add some body parts to this page.
Pain Duration
ID: A page on TD Snap with gray and green buttons. The top row describes frequency day to day, while the row below it describes how long onset takes.
In order, the buttons read The pain happens, all the time, daily, weekly, monthly, seasonally, suddenly, regularly, rarely, randomly. End ID.
Important to communicate how often the pain is. Normal/usual pain is a different emergency from sudden and new pain, or infrequent sudden pain. When I adapt this for my better grid size I will also make sure that I add a "never happened before" button.
Pain Timeline
ID: A page on TD snap for describing how long a pain has lasted. The buttons are yellow for within a day, orange for words within a month, red for words within a year, and blue for other timelines.
In order, the buttons read The pain has lasted, just started, an hour, a day, a couple of days, a week, a couple of weeks, a month, a couple of months, a year, years, episodic, constant but sometimes better and sometimes worse. End ID.
Again I would add a "never before" button. But otherwise solid page I think.
Pain Scale
ID: A screenshot of a page in TD Snap. The columns move from light blue to dark red, left to right, with increasing pain severity. The first row has faces for a pain scale, going from a smiling face to an upset face.
The second row has numbers 1 through 10 left to right. The third row has descriptions of pain going No pain, minimal pain, mild pain, uncomfortable pain, moderate pain, distracting pain, distressing pain, unmanageable pain, intense pain, severe pain, and ending on unable to move.
The fourth and final row has functional descriptions which read, from least to greatest and left to right, I have no pain, My pain is hardly noticeable, Low level of pain I am only aware of pain when I pay attention to it, My pain bothers me but I can ignore it most of the time, I am constantly aware of my pain but I can continue most activities, I think about my pain most of the time I can't do some activities I need to because of the pain, I think about my pain all the time I give up many activities because of my pain, I am in pain all the time it keeps me from doing most activities, My pain is so severe it's hard to think of anything else Talking and listening are difficult, My pain is all I can think about I can barely talk or move from the pain, and the last most extreme box reads I can't move from my pain I need someone to take me to the emergency room for it. End ID.
A good one. One of the pages I use often to speak to myself and to doctors, and I usually find myself quoting it when I am verbally communicating with doctors outside of emergencies. Feeling pain and registering it is difficult for many people for many reasons. I really recommend a page like this.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them. Also feel free to copy these pages if they suit your needs, change them, redo them, whatever. I am just happy if I can help others communicate about their pain easier.
The 1st one is a page to help me calm down when upset, has things I can do, self talk, and things other can do too
The 2nd one is my meltdown board, it help when I’m too upset for my normal grid, but still need a way to communicate with AAC, it has things relating to meltdowns, like feelings, and ways to explain what is going on in brain
The 3rd one is a about me page, it has info about me and things that people might need to know
ID: A communication board about psychosis. It has buttons sorted into categories based on color, using greens, blues, purples, and reds to distinguish groups. End ID.
Not something I plan to do often but this is a board that several people have said they've really benefited from seeing. So, here's my main board for communicating about my psychosis when I'm experiencing psychosis. There is a break down of each section and a more detailed ID of each under the cut.
ID: A section of the board with dark green buttons. The words on each, from left to right, top to bottom, are as follows: delusion, belief not based in reality, belief, reality check. Hallucination, sensory experience not based in reality, sense, sensation. Hallucinating, generally accepted reality, unreality, different reality. Psychotic, psychosis, psychotic episode, schizoaffective. End ID.
This section is general words relating to psychosis. I might need them during an episode but I might not. When I'm in an episode I prefer certain language so I generally paired them up next to each other (delusion is next to belief not based in reality, etc.).
ID: A heavily censored screenshot with maroon buttons. Each reads Do not talk to me about, and is then censored. All of the symbols are also censored. End ID.
These are quickfire sentences I can use to ask people to stop talking about certain triggers. I hope you can understand why I have censored them.
ID: A screenshot of more dark green buttons. From left to right, top to bottom, they read as follows: disorganized thinking, disorganized speech, paranoia, psychosis trigger, surveilance, telepathy, mind reading, Capgras delusion, Cotard's delusion, delusion of grandeur. End ID.
This is a section of general symptoms I experience during an episode as well as some common themes in my episodes. I do not experience some of these but I have them here so it's easy to get to them if someone else is experiencing them, or so I can quickly say that I'm not experiencing one (or that I never have).
ID: A screenshot of red and green buttons. The red buttons read as follows: I might be a danger to myself, I might be a danger to others, I might be a danger to myself or others, it's not safe for me to be alone right now, I feel unsafe. The green buttons read as follows: I am not in danger of harming myself, I am not in danger of harming others, I am not in danger of harming myself or others. End ID.
This section is difficult and makes me upset and also I think it's important to have for safety planning. It lets me quickly communicate what my physical safety status is.
ID: Two images of a full column broken up to be more compact for the post. They are purple buttons which read, top to bottom, as follows: I think I might be, I am, thinking, feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, sensing, something that isn't really there. End ID.
A quick and non-stigmatizing way for me to communicate to someone that I am hallucinating. I get very sensitive about wording when I am in a full psychotic episode so I worded this section very delicately. I also put the "I think I might be" there so that if it really is there it's easier for someone to realize they can affirm it's real and actually a thing that's happening.
ID: Two images of a full column broken up to be more compact for the post. The first two are green, and read Can you give me a reality check? I need a reality check. The next two are red and read Please don't reality check me, I don't need a reality check. The next four are teal, and read Can I write it down? Can I draw it? Once I give it to you, can you destroy it? Can I type what I am thinking, and then you can read it? The last button is maroon and reads I can't say what I believe right now. End ID.
These are my buttons for communicating how I want to communicate my thoughts that I might feel sensitive or defensive about because they might not be based in reality.
ID: Two teal buttons. The first one reads It is important to me that this isn't shared. The second one reads I need you to promise you won't tell anyone. End ID.
Last two buttons to talk about. They are here because I prefer to have different ways to say things, but also I usually like to double check when I'm in an active episode, and it helps me to have a way to quickly double check that when I share something with someone it will stay secret.
That is the board. I do not plan to share boards often. A lot of the ones that are more than the default are really personal to me and I don't like people seeing them since it feels like they're looking into my head. But I did want to share this one just because some people have said they have benefited from having it.
Okay but teacher Grace on Erid having very little say in which kids get filtered into his class, though he is aware that the selection process is super specific and that most of the kids he gets are high performers with star academics and some even with influential parents. He isn't quite comfortable enough with Eridian culture yet to object to the selection process and make it more inclusive, however. That is, until he learns about the special needs kids.
Obviously, there are Eridian kids with special needs, and a few of them even filter into his classes. But one specific type of special needs kid has never shown up in his classes, and the only reason he even learned of the condition is because Rocky and Adrien's first pebble has the condition.
It's initially quite a struggle for them to deal with, and Grace sympathizes of course, because the child will apparently have huge learning and academic struggles and will likely never be able to live on their own. That is, until he learns the details of the disability.
Basically, it's a condition where the part of the Eridian brain that gives them their eidetic memory isn't fully developed, and so these kids just... can't remember things the way most eridians do. And in a culture where an eidetic memory is the norm, all things cater to that, so not having that is actually a massive disability.
But Grace is like, so... this kid just learns the same way a human does, or something like. Which is nothing new to him, though he is somewhat boggled at how much Rocky and Adrian struggle with their infant and their "slow" learning curve, even as far as initial developmental stages. Grace, on the other hand, simply treats the kid the same way he would a human infant, and Rocky and Adrien are impressed with his patience.
But, through this, it occurs to Grace that there must be other kids out there with this disability who likely aren't getting the attention and chances in life that they deserve, because Eridian culture is particularly hostile toward this disability, and actively views those with it as unable to function in regular society.
So Grace demands that a special course be put together where he teaches kids with this disability specifically. Rocky is hesitant, as most kids with this disability are home schooled and kind of... kept shut away. But Grace insists and as one of Erid's saviors, he gets what he wants eventually.
His first class is super small, maybe only three kids because so few parents were willing to advertise that their children have this disability. And because of the stigma around it, even those who agreed to it are super unsure and want to be present during the lessons, perhaps paranoid about the impression it will leave on Savior Grace, who is so accustomed to only teaching the most gifted students.
But Grace knows exactly how to deal with these kids. Some of them have varying degrees of function when it comes to their memory banks, which isn't so unlike teaching kids on earth. And so Grace is able to introduce all these tools and teaching techniques that were previously unheard of on Erid (though very normal on Earth) like having textbooks for reference with you at all times and having strategies that are less focused on memorization for understanding, and providing these kids with tools like calculators and teaching them the art of taking notes to look back on, etc etc.
Suddenly, with all these tools that most Eridians don't need, these kids are learning at a much faster rate, and succeeding with the help of all their little tools. And because so many normal eridians are ignorant of Grace's actual biology, it's shocking to them that Savior Grace doesn't have an eidetic memory either (shocking to everyone but Rocky anyway)--that his brain functions quite similarly in capacity to these "disabled" children.
Once this news gets around, suddenly there's more kids in his special classes, and there's all kinds of discourse being inflamed because the real reason these kids can't live on their own or function is lack of support from Eridian society.
If Savior Grace, who is well respected as a genius in his own right amongst the Eridians, can function so successfully, they why can't these kids?
I dunno, I just think it's an interesting premise.
