One of my core creative philosophies is that making anything helps make everything. If you’re stuck on one creative task, do another.

Writing something different is better than writing nothing or beating yourself up about what you’re not writing.

From Friday to Sunday I wrote sixteen notebook pages of a fic I’ll likely never do anything with and today I was able to partially write a song in my head, leisurely saunter over to the same notebook with handwritten alien smut, and finish writing the lyrics over a period of maybe 20 minutes.

Blowing the spiders out of your tubes is so important. I forget this EVERY TIME, but now I’m golden because I haven’t written something and recorded it before the paint was dry in ages. I feel good, and tomorrow I’ll have something to show for the free writing I did last weekend.

I'd like to share with y'all a project I've poured my heart and soul into over the last couple of years: a database cataloguing every single older queer science fiction book I've managed to track down, consisting of just over 200 titles with LGBT characters/themes & by LGBT authors, spanning over a century (1880-2000) 🚀

The database can be filtered by representation, subgenre, whether the book is currently in print, and more; additionally, it includes my own ratings & brief thoughts on the ones i have read, if anyone needs a suggestion on places to start! (or feel free to shoot me an ask for a more personalized recommendation)

One way to get tasks done in the day is to make yourself a Chekhov's List. Put all of the things you have to do on a list, and now that they've been revealed they'll need to be completed by the afternoon (third act) and when you've completed something you can Chekov that task from the list
