This is a very light-weight version of how to disentangle yourself. Some of it is just about hiding rather than getting rid. As I have pulled all AI I could out by the root, my stuff has never turned itself back on again.

If you use Windows 11, you can tell Copilot to fuck off in the registry. So far, it has not bothered me again. When I follow the instructions in the article above, Settings just say I haven't connected it. I still see the icons, but they do nothing.

How to do this - not nearly as complicated as the article suggests:

Open Registry Editor.

Go to HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

In the left pane, right-click on the Windows Folder, click on New > Key and name it as WindowsCopilot

WindowsCopilot folder will now be created. Right-click on that and click on New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Now, name it as TurnOffWindowsCopilot

Open the created file (by double-clicking on that), enter the value data as 1, and click OK.

Now, restart your Windows 11 PC.
