This is a beautiful example of a fore-edge painting, a scene painted on the edges of the pages of a book.

This odd looking caterpillar was found. This is a Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillar in one of it’s later morphs. The orange-ish horn that pokes out in the gif releases a pretty awful smell and the color/smell combination is used to scare predators away.

A Two-Faced Doll from the 1920’s

Neon Luminance is part of a collaboration between Sean Lenz and Kristoffer Abildgaard over at From the Lenz. The duo dropped high-powered Cyalume glow sticks in a variety of colors into various waterfalls in Northern California and then made exposures varying from 30 seconds to 7 minutes to capture the submerged trails of light as the sticks moved through the current.
