If Ben is a bad leader, he’s not going to last ten years without Hux staging a coup. And they aren’t going to come in and say “oh the interesting overthrow took place off screen some years ago. Now Hux is Snoke 2.0 and we’ll watch the Supreme Leader that Ben doesn’t like get killed off again.”

If he’s a good leader, we’ll still see Hux staging a coup (see above) or else Ben will just sort of peacefully guide the galaxy while the Resistance travels around to various planets:

“Hi, we’re here to liberate you!”

“Nah, that’s OK, we’re good. Thanks anyway.”

Rey sorta tags along, until she shrugs and heads back to Ben, “So my friends are alive and the galaxy is at peace….Um, we kinda rushed things before but now that life’s a bit calmer do you want to go get some caf and talk?”

1. ben solo has been targeted by darkness even when he was still in leia’s womb and leia felt it, but luke reassured her and told her “the brighter the light, the darker the shadow”

2. ben solo was almost killed by a kitchen droid, who was thinking of precisely slicing his tiny neck, when he was two years old

3. ben solo was proud of his father, wanted to be a pilot just like him, and loved him so much, which probably was the reason why kylo ren was ordered to kill him to snuff out the light inside himself (which didn’t work lol)

4. ben solo found out that his family has been lying to him about his lineage and that vader was his grandfather, which would have given him the idea that the darkness inside him made sense

5. ben solo woke up with his uncle, the great luke skywalker, with an ignited lightsaber directed at him ready to kill

6. ben solo felt like he had no other choice than to join snoke because he couldn’t trust anyone anymore and felt that if luke couldn’t kill his father, who was darth freakin vader, and believed that he could be saved, then maybe he was worse than that
