anyone who’s like, weirdly insistent and proud about holding more empathy for animals rather than other human beings is not to be trusted tbh. esp when they claim that they’re like that because of a general disillusionment with humanity. If that’s really how you feel you should work harder to look out for others rather than projecting humanity on animals so you can tell everyone else to go to hell. I mean I hold the same empathy for both, but I still trust animals more. Also, you can only work so hard to look out for others before you start harming yourself.

On a general level I believe this is the animals’ planet first and ours second so I care more about the environment and animals as a whole than I do about humanity but valuing an individual animal over an individual human is questionable most of the time. That said if it’s between shooting an endangered animal and letting some dumbass die for fucking around with something they shouldn’t have, let the dumbass perish.
