Whenever I see someone who is not Brazilian using this gif I wonder if they know that it is from a Brazilian soapopera from the 2000s called senhora do destino (mistress of destiny) that has a chokehold on pop culture to this day
This character is the villain of the story, who steals a baby from another woman and raises the kid as her own. She kills a bunch of people usually by pushing them down the stairs or with scissors and this scene from the meme is her slowly going mad when she realizes she’s getting her comeuppance and going to prison. It is a tragic story but she is a meme because she is stereotypically evil and has lines that are comical and are memes 20 years laters such as seeing a gay couple and going “dykes… I can smell the leather”
This one just says “Maria de Nazaré Tedesco, that big hot blonde”
This one is just “first you get born again then you brush your teeth, do some gurgling and then you get a grip on yourself”
she’s evil and iconic, a villain like no other
“You think you can fool me looking like spaghetti with no sauce”
honestly people don’t do villains like that outside Latin America. The villains from Mexican tv are so iconic and they are famous in Brazil too because we love an unhinged villain who is evil for the sake of being evil. Honorable mentions to Paola Bracho and Soraya Montenegro
you forgot to mention when nazaré turns to the brother of the baby she stole once he is an adult and does something to her and says "i won't ever buy you ice cream again" - she bought him ice cream to distract him and steal the baby😭😭😭
Hacks 5.09 The Garden // Gaga: Five Foot Two
Lucia Aniello: There is a Lady Gaga reference in the montage, a line from the Lady Gaga documentary, because you know we actually talk about that documentary a lot in general because it is such an incredible-- it's right before her Super Bowl performance, and you just see her rehearsing and practicing and you see somebody who is so talented but disciplined just like Deborah Vance, somebody who puts a lot of pressure on other people but puts even more pressure on herself and I think that's so true for Deborah.
