Making your own clothes truly is like eating the fae's food because
Once you realize you can have any item you want in any color you want you become a menace to society. I have bright purple pants. I have bright turquoise pants. My new Look is "crazy bright hand embroidered pants, plain black T shirt" or brightly colored everything because my goal in life is to be as obnoxious to look at as possible
Once you've tasted THESE pockets, you can never go back
(Pants pattern those pockets come from link to page that includes plus size grading tutorial link because I know y'all are gonna ask)
I regularly carry around in these pockets
Small A7 notebook I use to write things down in so I don't forget them as a brain fog backup brain
Mini pencil to use w notebook
Glasses lens wipe (up to 3)
Lactaid (up to 4 individually packaged chewable tablets)
Carmex lip balm (the in a little pot kind)
Measuring tape (flexible for sewing kind, 60"/150cm long, button retraction, sooo useful to have on you all the time. My hot butch preparedness thing. Impresses people every time)
Small pair of folding scissors (comes in soooo handy)
Pocket rock (rn it's a garnet cube)
I feel like I am forgetting something but don't feel like getting up to check
I have also either previously all the time carried or on occasion added
Small A7 sketchbook I made myself
16 oz water bottle (full)
And man it really is like having plenty of good food around you and starving anyway because you cannot go back to the way things were. I have items from indie designers that have decent sized pockets for ready made clothes but they piss me off because I can't put a whole saddlebag's worth of stuff in them without stuff falling out.
When I make the clothes, I decide how big the pockets are. I am limited only by the strength of my waistband. Truly this is power.
