Put a face to the name;
Milos aka DissociationDude
We are the spiral star system, but you can just call us Milos/DissociationDude.
We are a 25 year old trans, queer, multimedia expressionist artist with a lot of mental health issues we portray via our art. We’ve considered ourself plural for nearly 3 years now but don’t like to present that way for safety reasons, but here feels like my safe space sometimes. Our pronouns are they/he/it.
We go by DissociationDude online simply because the experiences we have in day to day living as someone with a dissociative disorder, and also an acknowledgment of one of our alters.
We felt it was time to reintroduce ourselves, without such emphasis on the materials we use, more about the subjects we work with. Our mental health plays a huge role in our art, but so does music. The music we listen to heavily impacts our art as we often make work based on lyrics.
Artist statement:
What is pain used for when it doesn’t have any way out of the body?
I am a multimedia exressionist and I consider myself such because I make work that is vulnerable and raw. I want to be allowed to show my darkest vulnerabilities with my art, because I shouldn’t have to feel shame for what others have done to me, and nobody else should hold onto shame caused by others harming them, in my eyes.
My work is a conversation starter about how trauma manifests in people, and how we can stop letting it fester inside of us. I have a lot of work based on traumatic events, but the reason for these creations was never to evoke the feelings of being alone, unwanted, etcetera; they were created to make the viewers who deal with the same emotions feel less alone in those things. It is for those who have survived trauma to know it’s hard to have that trauma and carry it, and there is safe spaces to put it down or reflect on it.
My art is aiming to be a safe place to survivors who are struggling, to provide a place to weep, to provide a place to be seen.
Thank you for supporting me on this artistic journey of healing ❤️🩹
