im making a post on here cus i guess i just wanna know what other ppl who have Thyroid Disease think abt this.
Sooo ever since middle/high school i would start feeling shaky and lightheaded and stuff if i dont get proper nutrition. and 3 years ago i went to an endocrinologist and he was like, "yeah u got a hyperactive thyroid but ur fine! just eat good" and im like, "ok." i didnt really like him but its whatever. so for 3 years i didnt go to the doctor. then a week ago i started feeling a pressure in my chest, with the occasional rapid heartbeat. so i get a doctor's appointment and after seeing my heart itself is fine, i got a referral to endocrinology, because she thinks i have "Hashimoto's Thyroiditis."
But the thing is, I looked it up and thats a type of hypothyroidism, when i was told I have hyperthyroidism? also a sign of hypothyroidism is weight gain, when im actually 94 pounds. does that mean I will get the weight gain symptom later? or maybe the doctor is just wrong and that it will get ruled out, and i will get a different Thyroid Disease diagnosis?
I should also note my big toe nails are yellow, and 3 years ago they lifted off the nail bed like 3 times. I heard it was a sign of Thyroid disease. thats true right?
Also two separate times I got emotionally upset before eating, and I actually went BLIND for a terrible 2 minutes before my mom gave me juice and I got my sight back.
So yeah, if anyone who has thyroid disease wants to add their two cents, that would be cool i guess.
having a depression day.
had a doctor's appointment where we learned that my hashi's is just as bad if not worse than when i finally got a diagnosis in december. i've been gluten free since the disgnosis and docor says i should continue. i can't start medicine because im so busy that we can't tell if my energy is because of my thyroid or because of my lifestyle right now.
my lifestyle is killing me because my job is killing me. but i need to have a job because of capitalism. and capitalism is because some rich men decided centuries ago that destroying our natural bodily functions would make them more money. and centuries of time paying taxes and paying our LIVES to rich white men who abuse children; and we're supposed to just smile and do it?!
i have many first-world complaints about my job and the way it impacts my life and health. but today im more upset about how my first-world complaints are really just symptoms of the global wreckage of the human body from the global sickness of greed and patriarchy.
I AM CHRONICALLY ILL BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM. BECAUSE OF CAPITALISM! BECAUSE OF PREDATORY AGRICULTURE! BECAUSE OF THE WHITE MEN IN POWER WHO WOULD RATHER WATCH HUMANITY DIE IN PAIN AND OBLIVIOUS THAN SACRIFICE THEIR POWER!
having hyperthyroidism isn't the same as graves disease, don't go around saying you have graves disease if you aren't diagnosed with that, having a overactive thyroid isn't the same as graves disease.
if you're taking 5/10 mg methimazole and your appearance is ok, it's hyperthyroidism, not graves disease.

i dont know if what im experiencing is medical negligence or just some kind of unexpected emergency but im blaming it on that one endocrinologist that no-showed me and didnt take my levels.
my primary is fighting for me rn but we dont know whats going on, all we know is my thyroid is fucking murdering me or smthn. ive never had a flare-up this bad. im freezing cold, weak, depressed, anxious, fatigued, losing hair, and just generally miserable. ive had to take sooo many days off class my professors are getting worried.
wtf do i do. the one doctor trying to help me doesnt have the knowledge or expertise to do it herself. i feel like im dying. i feel like this is so much more serious than a regular flare up. but nobody can help me.
