Disclaimer

I hesitated to make this post at all, because I generally try to avoid drawing negative attention to people, and I know there's a risk that harassment will happen as a result. I've talked about the situation twice publicly, both times vague and without names or urls to avoid this. [1] [2] That said, accusations have been going on for a long time now, they've gotten pretty heinous, and there's no way for me to provide evidence disproving them without including names/urls so people can actually verify that I'm telling the truth. I do not condone harassment. I do not condone contacting any of these people with criticism, for any reason, even if you think it's kind. Leave them alone. I will block anyone I find out does otherwise.

Some background:

About two months ago, the Tumblr transmasc community had some major fractures as a result of disability discourse ("who is cripplepunk for" and "who can reclaim cripple" being the biggest arguments). I stayed relatively neutral; my stance was, essentially, that I believed there was absolutely a need for spaces/movements dedicated to physical disability specifically, that I did not think active gatekeeping was helpful, and that I do not care about slur discourse, period.

I also expressed that Morg (previously @cock-dealer, now @penis-peeper), who had gotten a lot of harassment over his post that started the conversation, didn't deserve the harassment he was getting, seemed understandably overwhelmed, and was descending into crisis. I urged people multiple times to leave him alone:

Morg did attempt suicide, and then went offline directly following this, with a friend of his stepping in to take care of his blog while he was gone. Prior to this, our interactions had consisted mostly of us reblogging each other's posts, a few asks back and forth (mostly expressing relief/joy that Morg was still alive after previous suicide attempts), and some DMs in which I offered support, or provided support on Morg's request, during this and a previous suicide attempt.

I won't share Morg's side of those conversations out of respect for his privacy, but here's the rest of my messages to Morg throughout our entire DM history:

I went on a trip to Florida during which I was mostly offline, and one of the days I was there, I got some notifications from the server I run- people telling me that Morg was talking about me on his blog.

This definitely came as a shock to me. We'd been on good terms last time we spoke, I hadn't talked to or about Morg since then, and I didn't even know he was back on Tumblr when I was linked to these. (i.e. I had no idea why I was being accused of making posts about Morg, encouraging harassment, etc.)

Plus a few other reasons:

The racism accusations do in fact come from a harassment campaign, which Morg himself has been included in. If he agrees I'm racist for these reasons, he agrees he is also racist for the same reasons.

During the "atheism rant", I was not accused of antisemitism, and in fact was a) talking with multiple Jewish people who agreed with me, & b) repeatedly defending Judaism, advocating for allyship with Jewish folks, and sharing my positive experiences with Judaism. I didn't know that @happysadyoyo 's video, referenced here, existed at this point. I haven't said I supported it, before or after this accusation was made. Anywhere.

"Cunt is a slur!"

I went through Morg's blog shortly after just to grab screenshots of the stuff about me, and started to find more and more posts where Morg was calling @happysadyoyo "cunt", "bitch", or "yoyocunt"- to the point that he corrected one ask to make sure everyone was calling him "cunt":

A while after seeing this, I made this post; essentially saying that "cunt" and "bitch", being insults that directly reference genitalia/womanhood as means of insulting someone, were, in my opinion, misgendering when applied to transmascs without their consent (and especially when in bad faith). I obviously don't think either are slurs.

This is when Morg started claiming that I was saying "cunt is a slur" and "defending Icarus", etc. etc.:

I really want to draw attention to the "trans people can't oppress other trans people" bit; it should be obvious that trans people can absolutely misgender each other. That's not up for debate. And what I think he's referencing here- that trans people, as a class, don't benefit from other trans people's oppression (but can absolutely participate in bigotry against each other)- isn't remotely relevant to this situation.

The Discord Server

For context, I run a server for transmascs and folks who relate to those experiences- the link to it is in my Tumblr bio as well as Disboard, but the bulk of users come from Tumblr.

These are mostly people who follow me and/or also talk about transmasc stuff on Tumblr, so a lot of them know who Morg is, follow/ed him, and have expressed concern over his suicide attempts in the past:

When the attempt Morg is referencing here happened, people did bring it to the server; there was some criticism of his message to @vaspider apparently blaming Spider for Morg's own attempt on his life, as well as some other things Morg did afterwards, but this criticism was always- as far as I saw- packaged along with "but I hope he's okay"/"he doesn't deserve to feel this way"/"I just hope he gets better and finds happiness" etc. As well as repeated reminders to keep things in check if folks came too close to trying to psycho-analyze or label Morg (from staff and from users).

Because multiple people had brought up or discussed Morg's behavior around end of March/beginning of April, server staff received a request to move conversations about Morg somewhere else in the server where people could avoid it. One of the mods started a thread to both keep it out of the main server, and reduce the number of eyes on it (some of the above screenshots are also from the thread). After a couple of days, staff closed that thread.

We were actively discouraging people from contacting Morg or engaging with him in any way throughout this whole thing, including before that space was made. The server also has rules against contacting anyone outside the server on behalf of criticism within the server.

Morg received some anons making some claims about this server the same day he started talking about the "cunt" post:

He never asked any of these people for evidence, never attempted to join the server (to my knowledge) in order to check, and never attempted to reach out to me about it.

Final Thoughts

Morg has not provided evidence for any of his claims. He has, in fact, openly admitted that he can't provide evidence, and will not try:

(Note that, as far as I've seen, nobody has provided the requested screenshots to Morg.)

I absolutely encourage anyone reading this to do your own research and come to your own conclusions. When you do, I ask that you get screenshots and links to proof of any claims made. That should be the bare minimum.

I would also, genuinely, like to see any screenshots and links as well. I want to know if I've done something wrong, and I want an amount of information that I can actually understand and act on what I did wrong. This goes for everything here: if you feel I have been racist, antisemitic, a "cult leader", cruel or unfair in any way to anyone. Please, please let me know so I can do better.

This post only touches on the major stuff, and only from my POV. I'm at the image limit, but a couple of extra things:

Morg has also encouraged others to harass me.

I still have not seen Icarus's video.

Icarus has unlisted the video. He has also said that the only personal information he included about Morg was a) the name he uses on Tumblr, "Morg" (but not his blog URL), and b) the fact that he made a suicide attempt (not his diagnoses or any of his specific medical issues). I can't verify this myself, but I also can't verify Morg's claims, so my take is officially "I don't endorse the video but I also won't accuse this person of things I can't know for sure happened".

It's pretty clear to me that Morg's actual problem with me is that I follow Spider and Icarus. I don't think that's a good reason for any of this.

His other problem with me is some stuff an anon told him with no sources, which he never verified himself. I think that's irresponsible at best.

I believe Morg did attempt suicide. I believe that everything he has said about his mental health and situation is true.

I also stand by what I said in this post; that I don't think there's an excuse for harassing folks like this, or misgendering trans people. At all.

I hope he is okay, I don't wish ill on him at all, and I also don't think there's any excuse for the harassment he's received from others, either.

“I was treated worse than an animal,” said Mario Garcia-Valenzuela, one of the detainees. “We don’t deserve to be treated like this.” Garcia-Valenzuela, a trans man detained at SLIPC, has alleged that, as part of the unsanctioned work program, [assistant warden] Reyes forced him to move heavy cabinets and cinder blocks, and to clean using industrial-strength chemicals without gloves or protective gear. When Garcia-Valenzuela complained of injuries from the work program, he said, Reyes and his associates forcefully stripped him naked and mocked him. Kenia Campos-Flores, who is trans and non-binary, told the Guardian that they suffered from persistent migraines and chest pain after exposure to cleaning chemicals they were made to use during unofficial, overnight work shifts. Campos-Flores also alleged in a complaint they were persistently sexually harassed by Reyes, who entered their dorm and stole possessions including their boxers. Another trans detainee, Monica Renteria-Gonzalez, complained that a stripper chemical he was told to use to clean the facility floors seeped through his fabric shoes and burned the skin of his feet. On more than one occasion, while Renteria-Gonzalez was bent over cleaning, he said, Reyes came up from behind and inappropriately touched him. The assistant warden also told Renteria-Gonzalez he was watching the detainee through security cameras, including while he was showering. A fourth detainee, identified by the pseudonym Jane Doe, is a cisgender, queer woman who said that Reyes forced her to perform oral sex on him on a “near daily basis” between February and May 2024, threatening to kill her if she refused, according to her complaint. Doe, who was deported to the Dominican Republic in January this year, has chosen not to share her name or speak publicly because she fears that Reyes will make good on his threat to find and harm her, her lawyer said. [...] “This was a sadistic late-night work program,” said Sarah Decker, a senior staff attorney with RFK Human Rights. “It was designed to target vulnerable trans men or masculine-presenting LGBTQ people, who [Reyes] coerced into participating.”

A cis woman was also involved in the sexual violence:

Twice, Renteria-Gonzalez said, Reyes came up behind him and touched him inappropriately. Another SLIPC officer, according to Renteria-Gonzalez, began to sexually harass him as well, sending him explicit notes and showing him pornographic images of herself.

This article includes more from each victim, but I want to highlight this part as well:

Garcia-Valenzuela had fled to the US in 2014 from Mexico, where he was tortured by members of a drug cartel. “I have no choice, that’s why I’m fighting,” he said. “Because I know that as soon as they deport me, I’m going to be handed over to the cartels and I’m going to be tortured and killed – ripped into pieces.” But in SLIPC he faced a new kind of horror. He alleged that on more than one occasion he was told to move heavy metal filing cabinets back and forth across a room. When he struggled to lift the furniture, Reyes would taunt him, he said, saying: “If you think you are a man, I’m going to treat you like a man.” In the spring of 2024, Garcia-Valenzuela reported sexual harassment on the basis of his gender, in accordance with Prea. He said he felt targeted due to his gender identity and wanted the fact he is transgender removed from his file, as a measure of protection. But an [ICE] officer responded that “even if we take off your transgender marker, there is no hiding that you are transgender”, noting Garcia-Valenzuela’s physical appearance, he said. To Garcia-Valenzuela’s knowledge, no follow-up investigation into Reyes was conducted. Renteria-Gonzalez’s complaints were dismissed as well, Renteria-Gonzalez said.

During the stop, Lorenzo had 3 coworkers with him in his truck who have all been taken into ICE custody.

His family described Lorenzo as a hardworking family man who didn’t deserve to be killed. All he wanted was to provide for his wife and see his sons become great people. His eldest son recognized his father by his cries and pleas when trying to identify who the victim was.

The Salgado Araujo family has set up a gofundme to help with funeral and legal costs, and to help keep their family supported since Lorenzo was the sole provider.
