If you've ever had the desire to create something but thought "I'm not good enough to do that" then I'm begging you to just try. You don't have to share it with anyone else, or you can share it as much as you want!! And you don't just get one chance to write the story you like. You can write it badly now and come back to it in 5 years and rewrite it as a masterpiece then. You can write the same story a million times until its juuuust right.

Finished reading the Witcher series (up next: the games). I loved it so much, and these characters have grown close to my heart.

- I’ve been accused that my soup was missing out on the flavor of onions because dogs are allergic to onions. This is not true because I love onions and there were at least two whole ones in there

- my dog wasn’t using the broth anymore and it had been in the cabinet for a while (she was on heartworm treatment and finished it)

- if you knew how much I love potato soup you’d understand why I did it

- I did have some psychological reservations about eating something marketed for dogs but that went away the moment I tasted the soup

- this is the dog in question

- eating the dog food didn’t increase my understanding of her because we are already soul bonded

My date, who until recently thought "tautology" referred to the study of tensile strengths and upon learning her mistake compensated by reading through its Wikipedia article: That would be more correctly identified as a "pleonasm".

The editor I hired to curate my posts who styles himself as a sort of scheming court advisor: My liege, this one is getting away from us. The punchline loses much of its impact when the rest of the joke is derailed by this increasingly self-indulgent meta humour. Were it up to me, your Grace, which of course it is not, I would cut the others and leave myself as the only supporting character. You need noone else, Your Majesty...

Other materials at the time, namely clay, would absorb flavors and germs meaning that if you ate beef off a clay plate your next meal with that plate could have beef flavor and microbes common on cow meat on it.  That would leak out seemingly at random no less.  Heck imagine a sick person coughing into their soup bowl and then months later their germs hiding in the clay would pop out to infect whole new people.

Also the earliest human use of glass we know of is for its sharpness.  Pre-historic people would use volcanic glass as sharp knives for food preparation.  Also beads.  Pretty much any new substance humans get their hands on for most of our history we immediately try to make into beads.
