pretty dice!

when C2 was airing, Veth Brenatto was easily one of the least popular members of the Mighty Nein, if not possibly the least popular. and it's not really hard to understand why. both as Nott and especially as Veth, she falls into some categories that people don't pay a lot of attention to and when they do it's usually for negative reasons. on top of that, she had an abrasive and impulsive personality that people love to hate female characters for, but because she was played by a male player, you didn't often see the "women's wrongs" crowd backing her up. (never mind that a lot of your favorite female characters are probably written at least in part by men, but I digress.) needless to say between just liking her and my defiant streak, she very quickly became my favorite character.

so like I spent 2020-2021 drawing Veth a lot. I probably went through 5 or 6 different icons I personally drew of her. she was a frequent subject of meme redraws and liveblog doodles. that last picture is actually the one time I was featured in the C2 art reel back when Liam would just find people on social media. as you can see a lot of these were of highly varying quality and inconsistent stylization, but I did it. and yeah, I also complained, frequently, about how people didn't get her and how she was unnecessarily demonized for either coddling Caleb too much or not coddling Caleb (or Fjord) enough or for engaging in thought crimes when male characters were let off the hook for real crimes and how people would take her character more seriously if she wasn't a fat, brown mom. as well as a host of other things the Veth stan hivemind can tell you all about because we all have the same chip on our shoulder.

but more than that, I drew Veth. I wrote about Veth. I made stupid memes about Veth. I regularly checked the tag for other people's art and meta and memes about her and followed people who made and reblogged those things. these are still a good chunk of my mutuals and people I follow. (note: I knew exactly who would show up in the notes of this post when I made it and they did not let me down.) at the end of the day, it was all part of contributing to the fandom, and because of the many fanworks of her, a lot of people have come around to Veth as a character over the years. i get it. it sucks that some characters get more attention than others and you are fully allowed to criticize the biases that lead to that. (there's a reason I only included my Veth art in this post and none my Nott art, and it was to fully illustrate that point.) but if you want that change, you really do have to put in the effort in whatever way you can, even if it's ballpoint pen doodles. shit, even if it's just reblogging ballpoint pen doodles.

The creature tokens for this map are a Hellish Zombie Archer, an Impertinent Devil and a Worried Priest. Emerald tier gets the Hellish Zombie Archer while Diamond tier gets all three. In addition, Sapphire tier gets extra creature token variants.

one of my guys. he is... how do you say. going through it. he has been in the party for like 15 days max while my other character is indisposed and he already has to get redesigned cause his whole subclass (spirits) got annihilated and now he's having an angel like rez his 11-years-dead parents that were haunting/raising him for the same 11 years (and also an evil spirit dw abt it) and there's like a pact and like... Yea

new vs old design. he has lost some of the whimsy. no more fruity bell bottom capris or little slip-on flats unfortunately. now his violin bow is stabby because he's been stabbed too many times. also his contract with the angel involves murder and espionage and illegal shit while he's working off a True Rez spell cost so he's gotta look more. Even more mystery and danger. Like Season 2 style after he went through shit. poor guy he's literally like orphaned-by-his-own-mistake social anxiety made flesh teenager.
