It's been a hot minute since I've been in the Undertale Fandom (maybe in the early year of the Pandemic) and I feel old when I remember that it's been 10 years since I've first joined so have my design and interpretation for Undertale Frisk!
Background:
Frisk was an orphan and was abandoned at the gates of a Catholic orphanage when they were a baby and grew up in the orphanage. There was no note on what Frisk's actual name was, their birthday or who their parents were.
The orphanage, St. Rosas, was quite big and housed plenty of children. However, the children were all mistreated in varying degrees. Because of this, Frisk grew up developing a dislike for Christianity/Catholicism, doubting the existence of God or any other Gods, and questioning the true reason as to why people and the world exists, and why such pain and suffering was even created in the first place.
Overall, Frisk has ISSUES and PROBLEMS and the orphanage was of no help what so ever.
Despite this, she had someone that she could confide in and trust that wasn't the other children with her. It was Father Daniel, the priest of the Church in their place, and was also a Filipino. He never once shamed them for their beliefs or urged them to "find themselves" in God. Father Daniel listened to her, always giving a shoulder to cry on, advice when she needs it, and answers to her questions if he knew it. If he didn't, he would tell Frisk so.
Father Daniel had always known about the mistreatment of the orphanage as many of the children there have also confided in him about it for many years now, and had wanted to report them but had not as many of the kids begged him not to, fearing what would happen to them. He tries his best to be there for them as much as he can though, even though he feels guilty for not being able to help more.
Frisk ended up in Mt. Ebott (which was quite far away from her town as the city in that place and her town was a bit far from each other) was because her school ended up having a school camping trip in Mt. Ebott for four days. When the trip ended and they were packing their stuff up, their bullies ended up barging in taking one of her bags with them and ran into the woods, with Frisk chasing after them to get their bag back. They end up finding their bag stuck in a tree branch somehow and their bullies no where in sight.
Once they retrieved their bag, Frisk realizes that they were lost and didn't know the way back to camp. And with a storm coming, they quickly went to find shelter, and found a cave. With how dark it was, Frisk didn't see the big, gaping hole and fell down, which is how they ended up falling into the Underground.
I like to think that Frisk did a True Pacifist run but didn't stay with the Monsters, and ended up RESETing because of an accident in the orphanage. After that, she would soon slowly but gradually start to become more and more curious and her powers and get lost in it. And once they accidentally started a Genocide run, they would see get an "epiphany" and finally understand why God's were the way they were, and fully believing that nothing was real, seeing everything as just a game.
Tldr: Frisk ends up getting a God-Complex, an existential crisis, and is basically both dissociating yet too aware at the same time about reality. Literally what would anyone expect to happen when a traumatized, mistreated nine year old child suddenly gets the abilities to rewind time without any consequences? Nothing good obviously.
However, after a few runs of Genocides, Pacifists, and Neutrals, Frisk would end up being questioned by Chara, two of the SOULs, and Sans (separately) bout why they were doing this, and these confrontations would manage to get through them, especially Sans', and would have Frisk coming back to their senses. They would end up doing one last RESET and go through a different a run, where they don't kill anyone, not even Asgore, and leave the Underground.
SECOND FALL:
I was inspired by the Neutral Runs j watched and this one comic in YouTube that I watched years ago where Frisk killed humans and dumped them in the Underground so that Monsterkind can use their SOULs as a way out, but with my own way, so credits to the creator that created that comic!
After Frisk ends up leaving the Underground, she finds that she's been missing for a few days now, and is brought back home. Due to her disappearance, maybe this leads to some teachers telling their concern to the police about Frisk's home life which would end with them investigating the orphanage and finding out the truth? I'm not quite sure, but regardless, the abuse and neglect of the orphanage is revealed and the children are quickly removed from their care and placed in different orphanages or foster homes.
Frisk ends up moving around a lot, ending up in different types of foster homes. Some of them were good, some of them were just as bad as the orphanage or worse. They become slightly depressed and drowning in guilt for what they've done back in the Underground, making them unable to sleep sometimes as they would be plagued by nightmares of what they had done. Most of the time, it gets hard for them to get out of bed. They hide it well though, but they really need some serious help.
Frisk still have the phone that Toriel had given her, and Sans still continues leaving her voicemails, updating them on what is happening on the Underground, and how her friends are all doing. She never picks the phone up when it rings, nor does she answer his messages, but that doesn't mean she never read them not listen to the voicemails. She does, and she keeps it close to her heart.
They also keep in contact with Father Daniel, having his number saved in their second phone and still confiding in him.
At the age of thirteen, Frisk, who was in the care of two neglectful foster parents who preferred to gamble and drink with other foster children, had decided that they had enough and ran away, as they have been planning this for months. They would end up in a motel a couple of days later, resting and the TV on when the news talks about a series of missing people happening in Ebott City. At the exact same time, Sans would call and this would be the first time that Frisk would pick up, though unconsciously and on accident, but they both pretend that Sans went to voicemail.
Sans tells them that the entrance to the Underground, where Frisk and the other fallen humans have fallen into all those years ago, was now turned into a dumping ground. Four bodies, found by Flowey and Toriel. The King and his council are trying their best to keep the situation under control and quiet, so as to not alarm the Underground. He ends the call by telling them to stay safe and please don't come to Mt. Ebott kid it isn't safe.
Naturally, Frisk ends up making their way to Mt. Ebott to stop this serial killer. Why? Perhaps it's because of her guilt for what she's done. Maybe this is her way to make up for all her wrongdoings. Or maybe, despite everything, she still loves Monsterkind. This is the first time she's ever felt DETERMINED after all these years.
Frisk would end up in Mt. Ebott after a few days of travelling and quickly search for the killer in the woods and come across him and another victim, though still thankfully alive, and interfere. However all three would end up tumbling down the hole and enter the Underground. Frisk gets saved by Flowey (who yes gets his redemption arc before she had left just bc) from being strangled to death and passes out as he slimes out the killer.
Frisk would be reunited with their friends, hell the victim, Mason, who had a KINDNESS SOUL, adjust to the Underground and Monsterkind, and repair their relationship with Sans. They would be the ones who would end up breaking the barrier, freeing Monsterkind, and bringing Asriel and Chara back from life.
Monsterkind ends up settling down around Mt. Ebott, calling it New Ebott (or whatever name they called their settlement in the game), and Frisk ends up getting adopted by Sans, and inherits his surname Font (I HC that the Skelebros do have a surname and it is Font. They just call themselves The Skeleton because they think it's funny).
ABOUT MY FRISK'S DESIGNS:
Note: I've created these designs like. Maybe a week or so ago? And since then, I've ended up changing some stuff after I created this design in my head, which was mainly about Frisk's vitiligo. As much as I love seeing Frisk with vitiligo, it is quite hard for me to draw them with one, so if I ever somehow decided to draw Frisk once more (which I highly doubt it since I would be busy with college), I might not end up drawing them with vitiligo or just disregard them being vitiligo all together, but despite that, Vitiligo!Frisk will forever remain in my heart 💗.
Ribbon: It's the same ribbon the player would find in the game, and Frisk ends up tying it around her wrist because she doesn't know how to put it in her hair. Sans would end up doing it for her! When they leave the Underground, Frisk leaves the ribbon behind to for Sans. They get it back in the second fall.
Eyes: I just really love Frisk having weird/unique eyes, which is how I ended up giving them leukocoria and star shaped pupils, but the last one is mainly due to the fact I got inspired by the different designs of Frisk's I've seen where they also gave Frisk star shaped pupils! I really like that they would end up getting red eyes and the star after a few RESETs, showing how they are affected by it physically.
They also only started closing their eyes after they left the Underground during the First Fall, and grew out their bangs to make it easier to hide their eyes just so that no one would question why their eyes changed. They only started opening their eyes once more after the Second Fall.
SOUL: I headcanon that humans and monsters can have more than one SOUL trait (which is their main trait). They can have up to three traits, which are common, and four and five traits are a very rare thing to have. I gave Frisk KINDNESS as their second trait because that's how I always imagined their trait would be if they didn't have DETERMINATION. Despite everything they did and been through, they are still kind
They only loose the KINDNESS trait when they started to spiral, and the red "gem" in the star is replaced by black, a little nod to the fandom's beloved headcanon that black SOUL's trait is HATRED. Their SOUL also becomes more darker and less glowy. After Frisk gets their senses back, their KINDNESS trait comes back, but it's in a much more greyer color, and their SOUL looks more like a greyish color and has a much more dinner glow, showing just how broken Frisk is and how they deeply regret their actions. The crack in the star symbolizes how their DETERMINATION is kind of failing and how RESETs starts becoming more harder to conjure.
They get their colors and glow back when they decide that hunting down a serial killer and putting a stop to his rampage was a good idea.
I also changed the way Frisk's KINDNESS trait looks like. Instead of like. Two wispy things? It would instead look like an Aurora borealis. Secondary traits can end up looking different things.
New SOUL design
Some Funfacts:
• I always believed that Flowey and Asriel are two different people. They share the same body yes, but are different beings. So when Asriel is revived, Flowey is still there and sticks with Frisk, maybe even gets a SOUL that Alphys makes if they ever find out how to do it
• Frisk used to be in the choir before the First Fall. When Father Daniel moves to New Ebott, Frisk ends up rejoining the church choir, as well as joining their school's theater club.
• Father Daniel taught them Tagalog.
• Frisk debates on either being a lawyer or a race car driver in the future.
• Frisk likes to introduce themselves as Frisk the Human, following their father and uncle's way of "naming" themselves. They also have magic of their own, being able to summon a Gaster Blaster, telekinesis and portals. Maybe some more if I ever thought of one.
