G and T rated human one-shots
Short, sweet, and usually with very low angst, these are the stories that put a big smile on your face and ask for nothing in return.
Everything Weāve Learned Along The Way, by SpectrallyDistracted. Rated T, 9k. P. Jan 26.
Oh, I truly canāt begin to tell you how much I loved this story! It made me feel all fuzzy inside! So heartwarming, angst-free, sweet and just joyful! Friends to lovers human AU that will touch your soul and heart. The love between Aziraphale and Crowley seeps through every single line of this fic as they pretend-date as an experiment to understand why everyone Crowley dates falls in love with him.
Just (Maybe) a Gigolo, by SpectrallyDistracted. Rated T, 5k. P. Apr 26.
The new gorgeous man in the neighborhood hits on Aziraphale. Of course Aziraphale would think heās a gigolo, itās the most obvious explanation, right? This human AU has all the feels: funny, sweet, intense, dramatic and sweet again! Lovely!
5 Minute Dates, by curiouspupsicle. Rated T, 2k. P. apr 26.
Sweet human AU in which Aziraphae reluctantly agrees to take part in a speed dating event in order to help boost his friendās business. Whoever might he meet there?
My own For Old Timesā Sake, rated T, 4k. P. Apr 26.
This fiction is so so dear to me. I love it more than I can say, even though itās not my usual piece of banter. Human AU in which Aziraphale and Crowley have known each other⦠Well, sorry, but they really have known each other for a long time, but their lives went in different directions. Can they get back together after twenty-five years? My dear friend said that the fic is safe for the under-40s, but the over-40s should enter at their own risk and I agree: this fic is my love letter to middle age and Iām extremely proud of it.
Lessons Iāve Learned About Love, by curiouspupsicle. Rated T, 4k. P. Apr 26.
Very sweet Ineffable wives human AU. a story of found and chosen love and found and chosen family, community, solidarity and the metaphorical (and literal) village it takes to take care of the new generations and of ourselves.
The Poster, by Luinlothana. Rated T, 2k. P. Oct 25.
Aziraphale finds a flyer taped on the window of his bookshop, if you can believe it! Lovely meet-cute human AU where they both get more than what they bargained for! Great humour and characterisation!
A Glass Half Full, by thinkinginscripts. Rated T, 3k. P. Oct 25.
This is a compelling meet-cute human AU that will have you hooked from the first line! Fantastic humour, Aziraphale has a bit of his bastardry on display and Crowley is instantly smitten, what more can you ask for? Credible and funny side characters, you say? Well, good because this fiction has got those too! All the warm feelings, highly recommend it!
My own On A Date With Tom, rated T, 7k. P. Oct 25.
Lighthearted meet-cute human AU, full of banter, chaos and bickerflirting. Aziraphale takes it as a personal offence that the gorgeous red haired man whoās walking towards him is not, in fact, his date Tom.
SEEKING (A Way Back into Your Heart), by SpectrallyDistracted. Rated T, 3k. P. Oct 25.
Lovely and angsty human AU (with a happy ending, of course!) A sweet story of forgiveness, of overcoming oneās insecurities and taking the difficult step of truly letting the other person see us.
Cherry Inferno, by badwolfgirlicouldkissyou. Rated T, 4k. P. Sep 25.
Delightful and funny strangers to lovers human AU. Crowley parks his ice cream van in front of Aziraphaleās bookshop. Flirt-bickering ensues. Great humour and creative banter. I loved Aziraphaleās inner thoughts!
On The Tops Of Buses, by WaitingToBeBroken. Rated T, 3k. P. Sep 25.
Adorable outsider POV human AU. Andy is half asleep when she gets on her 8am bus on a Saturday. She just wants to run her errands and then go back to bed. She certainly doesnāt mean to eavesdrop on the conversation between the two people sitting a few rows behind her. If only they werenāt such a cute couple, it would be much easier to just focus on the trees outside. Great humour and characterisation as we have come to expect from this wonderful writer!
All Bentleys, Great And Small, by joyAndOtherStories. Rated G, 1,2k. P. May 21.
This human AU will put a huge smile on your face! Fluffy, adorable, heartwarming: I just want to hug this fic! Aziraphale is the owner of a pet supplies shop; Crowley finds a puppy and is in need of help and advice. I highly recommend it!
Guardian Angel: The Hot Line, by ItsScottiesStark. Rated T, 10k. P. May 25.
The vibes of this story are exactly what Iām after when reading fanfiction. That warm, cosy feeling that youāre cared for, that nothing bad can happen to you while youāre lost in the fic, that someone will wrap you up in a warm blanket and your hot chocolate will never get cold. Strangers to lovers human AU where Crowley wants to prank the operator of a sex line, but ends up calling a help line for queer people. No angst, all smiles and warm fuzzies. No fear, only happiness. I loved this so, so much!
Survival Is Insufficient Without Love (A Series Of Post-Apocalypse Vignettes), by bohoteacher. Rated T, 7k. P. Jul 25.
This beautiful story is a new classic! The narration is so tender, the prose so poetic, the plot so powerful! Can you tell I loved it? Post-apocalyptic human AU in which Crowley is in search of a garden and Aziraphale is in search of a printing press. Or rather, I'm sure you'll forgive me, Crowley is in search of a Garden and Aziraphale is in search of a Printing Press because these two things become almost mythical elements in the dynamics of this fic. I cried more times than I can tell you while reading, but mostly it was emotional, hopeful tears. That's what this fiction is full of: hope. Hope in the face of near-extinction. Hope and love and fight and resistance and community and home. Because without these things, survival is insufficient.
My own A Little Lighter, After All, rated T, 3k. P. Jun 25.
Little human AU where Crowley and 5 year old Warlock move to Tadfield. As a new single parent figure, Crowley is resigned to the idea that there isnāt any space for romantic love in his life. Enter the local bookseller.
There Was Never A Dream To Compare, by On1OccasionFork. Rated T, 3k. P, May 25.
A Sequel to Our Homeward Steps Were Just As Light, this fic touched me just as deeply. Itās no secret that Iām partial to young master Warlock, and this fic is narrated in his POV, although in a human AU version of our Ineffables. This story is tender and delicate, it exudes love in all its different forms and it just makes you want to hold on to things. And to people. And Iām not crying, YOU ARE! But dry away those tears, this story has a happy ending!
Keep Digging by Appleseeds. Rated Tteen, 7k. P. Jan 24.
Human AU. Crowley and Aziraphale work in the same office and Crowley is trying to gather the courage to ask Aziraphale out, only to get cold feet at the last moment. In order to try and save his face, he needs to do what the title says. I howled with laughter. Just put down whatever youāre doing and go read this right now. Itās unbelievably hilarious.
Can I Have Your Number? by AppleSeeds. Rated G, 1.8k. P. Apr 21.
Aaawww. Aziraphale goes to order drinks for him and Tracy, and writes down his number for bartender Crowley. Crowley asked for it, right? RIGHT?? All well that ends well, this story is brief and sweet.Ā
Our Homeward Steps Were Just As Light, by On1OccasionFork. Rated T, 7k. P. May 24.
I've seen this little gem recommended a lot recently, and with very good reason! Human AU where Pepper works in a nursing home. Anthony is a beloved guest prone to causing trouble, Aziraphale is a new guest. It's tender, deep, funny and original. Stirs things in you, a fiction like that. I loved it. Extra points for being in Pepperās POV.
You Can Stay In My Bed, If You Like, by AppleSeeds. Rated T, 3k. P. Jul 22.
Lovely human AU where Aziraphale and Crowley wake up together in Crowley's bed after Aziraphale's birthday party.Ā Alcohol was involved. And Gabriel. Should they be alarmed? Mortified? Thrilled? Did anything happen? Let's find out while the two roommates snuggle a little closer to each other.
My own Ā Only Ever Meant For Someone Else Rated T, 9k. P. Dec 24.
Every year, the night before Christmas, taxi driver Aziraphale drives passengers to and from the hospital for charity. On the Christmas morning of 2023 he was ready to go home and rest with a cup of tea, a mince pie, and a book after a long night.
This my very first attempt at human AU, and it was great fun to write it without being bound by anything canon. It gave me a chance to play with some feelings and characterisations that I just donāt see in canon, but I like in fiction. I tried to throw in the mix a bit of humour, a tiny bit of short lived angst and, of course a happy ending!
Heir, by ddagent. Rated T, 2k. P. Sep 23.
Just a lovely peek into the life of future king Aziraphale on the day of his brotherās Gabriel funeral. He meets leader of opposition and anti-monarchist Crowley. This story left a delicious taste of nostalgia and what-ifs in my mouth; it was brief and effective. But a fair warning: if you need unquestionable closure in the fics you read, maybe you might want to give this one a miss. I loved it.
Merry Christmas, Hellspawn, by Libbyfay. Rated G, 4k. P. Dec 21.
Beautiful Warlockās POV fiction. It's the first Christmas since nanny and brother Francis left without a word, and Warlock feels lonely. He goes to what used to be brother Francisā shed, goes through the box of Christmas decorations and reminisces about the past, until someone knocks on the door. I am quite partial to the few, precious Warlockās POV stories, and the author does an excellent job at depicting the pain of an 11 year old and that casual, matter of fact way 11 year olds deal with great pain. This story is delicate, and beautiful and deeper than it might seem.
Ghost, by AppleSeeds, rated T, 5k. P. Sep 22.
Human AU. Crowley seems to have a ghost in his flat who takes care of him by preparing relaxing hot baths and providing nice meals. Don't worry, though, this is fiction, and AppleSeeds fiction at that. Happy ending guaranteed.Ā
Smooth Criminal, by Sabotaged_Words. Rated T, 11k. P. Aug 24.
Oh,I adored this story! I have already recommended it to anyone who would listen and I'll recommend it again! It's a human AU where petty criminal Crowley tries to steal items from Aziraphale's bookshop and that's how their friendship begins. Delightful humour, warm vibes, great characterisation, hilarious references to canon: this fiction is a gem.
Get Humans Wet And Staring Into Each Otherās Eyes, by WaitingToBeBroken. Rated T, 2k. P. Mar 25.
Human AU. Hilarious Crowley's POV stream of consciousness. Aziraphale is there for the ride (in every sense, it would seem).
Click, click, Flash, by Thavron. Rated T, 4k. P. Jun 25.
This human AU has a very gentle tone. Aziraphale is a famous actor, Crowley is a celebrity photographer. The narration is almost poetic at times and the writer does a wonderful job at painting the whole picture by showing us only a few selected scenes of the relationship between Crowley and Azraphale.
Hooked On A Feeling, by ItsscottiesStark. Rated T, 12k. P. Jun 25.
Adorable and heartwarming strangers to lovers human AU where Crowley and Aziraphale meet in a bar. Soft Crowley, light banter, fluff, and great side characters! What more could you ask for?
Assistance With Evicting Former Partner Needed, by WaitingToBeBroken. Rated T, 6k. P. May 25.
By now, everyone knows that WaitingToBeBroken never disappoints! Aziraphale needs help in getting his ex to leave his flat, Crowley wants to create chaos. This Human AU is hilarious and sweet, the dialogues and characterisation are great as usual and there is a little nonsensical spooky element that makes the story all the more intriguing!
āt Smidje (Belgijka), by Enderhuntress. Rated G, 2k. P. Jul 25.
I was so, so lucky that this wonderful fiction was my gift from the writer for FTH! I love it so much! Itās a sweet and tender high school human AU where Crowley and Aziraphale have a secret crush on each other. Neither of them thinks the other is interested until they have to learn to dance the Belgijka. They hold hands, they stare into each otherās eyes, and va-voom! This gift was a real treat to read and Iāll treasure it forever!
Sapiens, by AppleSeeds. Rated T, 9k. P. Aug 22.
Very sweet human AU where Aziraphale and Crowley haven't met, but admire each otherās work in the science and humanities fields. When they meet at an event organized by Aziraphale and his team someone is going to be smitten.
With Fairest Flowers, by scienceblues. Rated T, 4k. P. Sep 24.
Lovely established relationship human AU featuring sassy and self confident actor Aziraphale. All fluff and humour, it's adorable!
