There is a happy ending, talking things through, great smut and sweet fluff waiting for you along the way and at the end, as well as some surprising and very welcome characterisation! Lovely story!

Lovely strangers to lovers human AU, full of baking and writing! Aziraohale and crowley meet through the readers page of a publishing website and decide to write a story together. This story is sweet, funny and angst-free. Seeing them fall in love step by step as well as communicating clearly is beautiful! Also I LOVED Aziraphale’s family!

Written for the Winter Omens Reverse Mini Bang. I had so much fun working with Lutra on this meet cute/stranger to lovers human AU set mainly in Rovaniemi. Aziraphale and Crowley meet on a plane, but after his holiday, Aziraphale will have to go back to London. Banter, fluff, a little bit of angst and a happy ending. I really hope I managed to do Rovaniemi justice, even though I’ve never been there! I absolutely want to go and visit it now, and hopefully so will you!

I loved it. 

Enemies to lovers, forced proximity human AU. Crowley is a rockstar in need of a lyricist. Enter erotica writer Aziraphale.

The humour throughout the story was a treat and more than once I got looks from my fellow commuters because I was giggling or snorting laughter. 

Crowley and Aziraphale's slow journey into introspection was very sweet to witness. 

I'm always partial to fictions that feature the Them and Warlock, and their characterisation here was spot on and really entertaining; I will love Hermiola's Warlock for life! 

This story was captivating, entertaining, sexy, incredibly funny, and made me want to read more whenever I had to put it down. Virtually no angst. A new classic!

And Now All Of My Garden Is Grown In Lavender, by ilikeblue. Rated E, 72k. P. Apr 24.

Aziraphale is a successful queer romance author whose books are being adapted for TV. At the start of his career, his agent, Gabriel, insisted he claims to be married in order to gain more readers. Now that the spotlight is on him, Aziraphale needs someone to play the part of his husband. Did I mention that Crowley is Aziraphale's gardener and friend? I'm sure you know where this is going. This story has a little angst and lots of good vibes of trust, friendship, love and loyalty. And a happy ending! 

On The Same Page, by Chekhov. Rated E, 117k. P. Sep 20.

Human AU where Aziraphale and Crowley are both writers. Aziraphale writes Christian books, Crowley writes adult books and they help each other out with their writing. Until they have to pretend to be married. This was such a good read, I really couldn't put it down. It's almost exclusively narrated in Aziraphale's POV but the mutual pining is evident and the build up to them resolving their issues is so bittersweet and deep and just lovely. There is a happy ending, don't worry. And the side story will really... aargghh, I won't spoil it for you, just read it.

Aziraphale and Crowley both write Good Omens fanfiction on Ao3. Crowley’s stories are sweet and romantic. Aziraphale’s stories are smutty and spicy. They love each other's stories without knowing who the writer is. This fiction was a treat!

Canon divergent fictions are among my favourites. The talent and creativity of the fandom never ceases to amaze me, and even more so when the writers take the supernatural elements found in canon and use to make incredible stories, full of plot and surprises.

CANON DIVERGENT:

You, Dear, at The End of The World, by Fine_things_well_worn. Rated T, 23K. P. Mar 24.

I loved loved loved this fiction! So much! Canon divergent story set in a post apocalyptic (literally) world. Aziraphale couldn’t save all the humans, but he saved a few when heaven and hell destroyed each other and the universe. He cares for them and makes sure they have everything they need in the miracle bubble he has created. There is no one else out there, not humans, not angels, not demons. So how come the demon Crowley materialises in his cottage all of a sudden? And has he come here to destroy him?

This wonderful, wonderful story starts with a deep sense of melancholy, but by the end of the first chapter the tone changes drastically and we have our familiar banter and humour. A beautiful tale of new beginnings, hope and perseverance. And, of course, humanity.

Better The Demon You Know, by HenriettaRHippo. Rated E, 93 k. P. Oct 25.

I was obsessed with this fiction from the first chapter to the last. The suspense, the excitement, the love, the desperation, all concluding in a beautiful happy ending. Canon divergent story where Crowley was assigned to earth, but Aziraphale wasn’t. When Crowley (accidentally) discorporates Sandalphon, Beelzebub decides to reward him by giving him an angel hell captured over 150 years ago. Yes, you guessed who the angel is. This fiction is dark and angsty in a way that a non-angst reader such as myself could enjoy and love: the angst isn’t in the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley, but in the circumstances that are beyond their control, and which they overcome together, their love for each other growing stronger despite everything. Highly recommend it.

The Least Eligible Bachelor, by fellshish. Rated E, 37k. P. May 26.

In-universe canon divergent/pre-armageddon fic, full of humour, longing and incredibly hot sex scenes. Aziraphale takes part in a reality TV show where he’s a bachelor who has to be wooed by the contestants. The contestants are, of course, demons. There will be roses, there will be bananas, there will be snakes, there will be love. This fic gave me early-canon vibes, which I was and still am yearning, and I’m grateful for them. As usual, this author has the beautiful ability to make you laugh and cry in the same sentence, and feel all the emotions in-between. Highly recommended!

What God Has Joined Together Let No One Separate, by alarmingly. Rated T, 10k. P. Feb 25.

The prose in this fic is so delicate and poetic and evocative. Unusually for the fics in my list, this story has a bittersweet ending and a somewhat angsty tone, but it’s oh, so beautiful. It starts the moment Aziraphale gets out of the lift in heaven, but it’s not a post S2 fiction, not really. It’s so much more. Without wanting to spoil it too much, I strongly recommend reading it if you like canon divergent AUs. Or, you know, if you like very good writing. But be ready for a heartache.

My Heart Was Always Yours by AddledMongoose. Rated M, 143k. P. Jun 24.

Another incredible work by one of my favourite fiction writers. I was so impatient for Fridays to come so I could lose myself in the two new chapters of this fiction and I'm going to miss the Crowley and Aziraphale in this story so, so much. Canon divergent universe where Aziraphale and Crowley don't meet until present day. Each of them thinks the other is human and each of them wants to prevent the apocalypse. The plot of this story is incredible and moves at a fast pace, but the main characters are the real treat. Their chemistry is incredibly well written, the humour and wit are spot on and you will fall in love with them.

The Bookseller And The Garden by oceantears. Rated teen, 13k. P. Aug 23.

Fluff, fluff, fluff! Canon divergent fiction where Crowley is a demon stationed on earth, Aziraphale is an angel stationed on earth, but they have never met until present day. There's no end of the world in sight, only an angel and a demon falling in love and not knowing how to break it to the other that they're not human. I laughed all the way through.

Mnemosyne’s Feast by ravendiana, rated G, 1k. P. Dec 24.

Canon-divergent story where the final fifteen never happened. Crowley doesn’t trust himself with words, so he attempts to communicate his feelings to Aziraphale through memories awoken by food. This story was really touching and heartwarming, I loved it so much!

The Last Angel by @bellisima-writes, rated E, 162k. P. Oct 24.

I don't think there is anything about this epic story that I haven't said before. The author builds an incredible plot and you wonder excitedly where this is all going. You can't stop reading because you want to know what happens and because the prose is so beautiful. Like I've said several times before, this is the most Good Omens-y fic I've read. Let yourself be captured and join Bellisima for this wonderful ride!

The beginning is set after season 1: Hastur wants to take revenge on Crowley and tricks him into drinking a potion that sends him into a parallel dimension where he's the archangel Raphael and Zira is a Prince of Hell. They are both stationed on earth. Zira has no knowledge of the universe Crowley/Raphael comes from and only sees Crowley/Raphael as an archenemy to discorporate with elaborate plans. Crowley is determined to win Zira over and to go back to his own Aziraphale, but matters are complicated by the fact that when Zira discorporates him he always wakes up on the same Wednesday morning. Every time.

The plot of this fic is so clever! The evolving of the relationship between Crowley/Raphael and Zira only thanks to what Crowley learns about Zira each time AND what Crowley knows about his angel Aziraphale is done masterfully. Truly great fiction, heartwarming, intriguing and delightful! 

Wrong Turn by anticyclone, D20Owlbear. Rated T, 37k. P. Sep 20.

Honestly, I don't know why this fiction touched me so much. I just couldn't stop thinking about it for days after I finished it. It's a post season 1 fiction where Crowley suddenly finds himself in a parallel universe at the time the apocalypse is just about to happen. The Crowley and Aziraphale in that universe have a different history to our Crowley and Aziraphale. All our Crowley wants to do is to go back to his universe and his very own angel, but how? As you follow the main plot and focus on Crowley's thoughts and actions, you'll start slowly feeling the other story get hold of you, and it won't let go until the very end and beyond.

I adore Addled’s stories and style and have done since the first one I read over a year ago. Each new story is a lovely gift, and this reverse omens AU doesn't disappoint one bit. There's plot, there's a mystery to solve, there's oh, so much wonderful pining, there's humour, there's great characterisation and there's demon Azira. I don't think I'll ever be able to stress enough how being a demon suits Aziraphale perfectly. He was born to be a demon; Crowley's demon to be precise. The dynamics between the two of them is simply perfect. I loved loved loved this fiction!

The eerie atmosphere of this fic is so masterfully crafted and the prose so poetic, you will be hooked from the start!

Absolutely lovely and delicate in-universe fiction where Aziraphale gets chatting with a waitress while he's away from London on an assignment.

I had a lump in my throat the whole time while reading this, but it's so beautiful. The ending is open and bittersweet in the sense that the story is set at some point before the events of season 2, maybe even before the events of season 1, therefore the ending will be whatever the ending of Good Omens is.

Let Me Be Empty: A Prologue, by Koala2all. Rated E, 4k. P. May 25.

High angst fiction but with elements of tenderness that pop up unexpectedly. Crowley is missing Aziraphale and decides to turn to Lucifer for comfort. The fic is narrated in Lucifer’s POV and does not have a Crowley and Aziraphale happy ending. It's beautiful, but please read the tags.

What an absolute gem this fiction is! AU where Aziraphale is a human and Crowley is a ghost and where everyone is so amazingly in character! They love each other, your honour, even when their love seems utterly impossible, just like in canon they will  find a way. In my comment on Ao3 I said that I loved the (just a little bit bitter-)sweet ending, but actually, scrap that. The ending is just sweet, full stop. Love breaks every barrier. Loved it! With beautiful art.

Very romantic vampire AU story that will subvert your expectations. This delicate fic deals with loneliness and with paying the price of finding a soulmate. I love how eager and yet tender both Crowley and Aziraphale are. Very sweet happy ending!

Lovely, spooky and very surreal fiction: for a moment there I thought I had stumbled into a Samuel Beckett’s play. Human AU-ish where our favourite Ineffables find each other, like in every universe. Tender and hot.

If you read only one story out of this list, make it this one. This human AU moved me so very much I cried. Crowley moves into his new flat in Soho, only to discover the flat is haunted by the ghost of the owner of the bookshop downstairs. I won't tell anything else about the plot other than it does have a very sweet happy ending, and it gets there via a rollercoaster of emotions. This is really one of those fictions that leave me in awe of the fandom's talent and creativity. Read it, read it, read it!

Human AU. Crowley seems to have a ghost in his flat who takes care of him by preparing relaxing hot baths and providing nice meals. Don't worry, though, this is fiction, and AppleSeeds fiction at that. Happy ending guaranteed.

Such an intriguing ghost story! Spooky and sweet in equal measure. Human AU in which friends Aziraphale and Crowley are vloggers dealing with paranormal phenomena. On their way to Tadfield they find themselves stuck alone in a cottage belonging to an old lady and her niece. Even skeptic Crowley has to eventually concede that the cottage is haunted. Obliviousness in action, this fic was lovely!

Assistance With Evicting Former Partner Needed, by WaitingToBeBroken. Rated T, 6k. P. May 25.

Aaaahhh, enemies/rivals to lovers is by far my favourite human AU trope. The bickering! The banter! The sexual tension! The rom-com vibes! I love them and would love to read much more of them. Keep the recs coming in the reblogs!

Written for the Winter Omens Big Bang and very (I mean, VERY) loosely based on the Gilmore Girls episode the Bracebridge Dinner, this is my first enemies to lovers human AU where sunny Aziraphale owns an Inn and grumpy Crowley owns a cafe. I had so much fun writing the banter and the humour in this story and I’m always proud when I manage to pull off an just-enough-of-a-bastard Aziraphale in an AU setting! Working with Hogs was a real treat and her art will take your breath away!

This funny, deep, fluffy enemies to lovers human AU made me feel all the feels and ended safely on warm and fuzzy. Crowley and Aziraphale despise each other, but find themselves accompanying Maggie and Nina on holiday out of loyalty. It’s going to be a long week. Romantic and sexy, the fic explores the many ways courage can manifest, from the courage to recognise your mistakes to the courage to let yourself be vulnerable (and everything in between). Superfluffy ending.

Friends Don't, by MissUnderstoodLyrics. Rated E, 33k. P. Dec 24.

Honestly, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this story. In my comment on the last chapter I said that it was like an unexpected day off at work: precious, exciting, comfortable, you know it will be over all too soon but it’s one of those gifts that make life happier. In this enemies (meh!) to friends (ha!) to lovers (yay!) Crowley and Aziraphale work as advice columnists for two rival newspapers in Tadfield. The newspapers are bought by the same media company and our two heroes find themselves co-hosting a podcast. How will they cope? Oh, they’ll cope very well indeed, let me tell you. This fiction is uplifting and funny, the banter is clever without ever feeling like they are overdoing it, and the Ineffables react to their feelings in an insecure, fragile, but all too relatable -and fairly realistic- way. It never feels like the writer is pushing it. It became instantly one of my all time favourites.

Whickber Uni's Lonely Heart Club, by ineffabildaddy. Rated E, 21k. P. Apr 25.

Lovely human, college, enemies to lovers AU. Aziraphale and Crowley are co-president of Whickber Uni's Book Club. They hardly tolerate each other. They are organising a valentine's social event for the club. Need I add more? I loved this version of our ineffables, their strengths and vulnerabilities are so in character and yet so relatable, their humour and banter are great, and they're just so adorable!

The Anon Before Christmas by foolishlovers. Rated E, 66k. P. Mar 24.

Ah. Where to begin. Every now and then, you read a fiction that just makes you feel at home. Makes you feel like you’re in safe hands. Like you’re in for a real treat. This absolute gem has very quickly become my favourite human AU. For several reasons.  The characterisation of the two main characters is absolutely spot on. I could hear Crowley talking in DT’s Crowley voice and see him moving in DT’s Crowley way, and I could hear Aziraphale talking in MS’s Aziraphale voice and see him moving in MS’s Aziraphale way. The pace of the development of their relationship from enemies to lovers is just perfect. It’s told from Crowley’s POV and you can see how his perspective changes as the story progresses, but the writer is so good that Aziraphale’s change of perspective shows perfectly through Crowley’s POV too. The array of side characters is so good that it actually pains me to call them side characters. I wrote in one of my comments to the fiction that I will forever adore this story’s Bee, and I meant it, but Newt and Ana are equally fantastic (and I loved the other cameos too!). Also, and this is especially important to me, this story is as much a love story between Crowley and Aziraphale as it is a story of true friendship among all the characters. They look after each other, they have each other’s back, they support each other. I am so lucky and privileged to be able to see myself represented in that aspect of the story. Last but not least, this fiction doesn't overstay its welcome one bit. You are happy about how everyone ended up, but still could read more. It’s like you are part of the gang and want to know what your friends are up to. Everything in this story was perfect. I realise I haven’t mentioned what the plot is about, but hopefully by now you might want to find out for yourself!

The Shared Desk Dilemma, by MissUnderstoodLyrics. Rated E, 32k.

Fantastic enemies to lovers human AU. This is one of those stories I read a long time ago (you probably did, too), and I still remember all the feels and the giggles it gave me. Professor Anthony Crowley is starting a new job at Eden University. He has to share an office and a desk with Professor Aziraphale Eastgate. Of course the two men can't stand each other. Sexual tension and deep feelings ensue.

Married At First Sight, by Aracloptia. Rated T, 146k. P. Dec 23.

A new classic! I doubt anyone reading these lists might have missed this fic, but let me tell you how much I loved it anyway! As the title suggests, Aziraphale and Crowley take part in the reality Married At First Sight. It's hate at first sight for our two heroes, unfortunately, but the slow burn that follows must be one of the sweetest things I've read in fiction. Crowley and Aziraphale both come a long way to understand each other and let their guard down, and the whole process is just marvelous to witness. And, no, I've never watched a single episode of the show Married At First Sight either, you really don't need to in order to enjoy this fabulous fiction. Lovely array of side characters to top it all up!

This wonderful, funny, witty fiction had me hooked up from the first sentence! Aziraphale has a new neighbour and things don't run smoothly. Hilarious enemies-to-lovers human AU with some of the best hot scenes I've ever read. Seriously, go and read it!

Mon Horrible Chéri, by ghostrat. Rated E, 40k. P. Nov 23.

I do have a soft spot for enemies-to-lovers AU. This one doesn't disappoint one bit. Crowley and Aziraphale teach science and literature in the same high school and they hate each other (aw... how cute are they when they hate each other whilst being attracted to each other?). When Beelzebub is injured just before the school trip to Paris, Aziraphale has to step in to replace them. When he agreed he didn't know that the other teacher accompanying the children was Crowley. Everything you're looking for in a sweet, funny, romantic enemies to lovers fiction ensues. Highly, highly recommended.

I loved witnessing the relationship between them blossom; the story was tender and hot at the same time. But what will happen when aziraphale has to travel back to London?

This funny, deep, fluffy enemies to lovers human AU made me feel all the feels and ended safely on warm and fuzzy. Crowley and Aziraphale despise each other, but find themselves accompanying Maggie and Nina on holiday out of loyalty. It’s going to be a long week. Romantic and sexy, the fic explores the many ways courage can manifest, from the courage to recognise your mistakes to the courage to let yourself be vulnerable (and everything in between). Superfluffy ending.

In-universe canon divergent/pre-armageddon fic, full of humour, longing and incredibly hot sex scenes. Aziraphale takes part in a reality TV show where he’s a bachelor who has to be wooed by the contestants. The contestants are, of course, demons. There will be roses, there will be bananas, there will be snakes, there will be love. This fic gave me early-canon vibes, which I was and still am yearning, and I’m grateful for them. As usual, this author has the beautiful ability to make you laugh and cry in the same sentence, and feel all the emotions in-between. Highly recommended!

I love how the writer manages to write a satisfying growth for both characters in a relatively short fic. Nothing feels forced in this story, it flows beautifully!

And if sometimes it feels like his best friend Crowley might want something more, he’s certainly imagining things.

On their way to Tadfield they find themselves stuck alone in a cottage belonging to an old lady and her niece. Even skeptic Crowley has to eventually concede that the cottage is haunted. Obliviousness in action, this fic was lovely!

Honestly, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this story. In my comment on the last chapter I said that it was like an unexpected day off at work: precious, exciting, comfortable, you know it will be over all too soon but it’s one of those gifts that make life happier. In this enemies (meh!) to friends (ha!) to lovers (yay!) Crowley and Aziraphale work as advice columnists for two rival newspapers in Tadfield. The newspapers are bought by the same media company and our two heroes find themselves co-hosting a podcast. How will they cope? Oh, they’ll cope very well indeed, let me tell you. This fiction is uplifting and funny, the banter is clever without ever feeling like they are overdoing it, and the Ineffables react to their feelings in an insecure, fragile, but all too relatable -and fairly realistic- way. It never feels like the writer is pushing it. It became instantly one of my all time favourites.

Human AU where Aziraphale and Crowley are both writers. Aziraphale writes Christian books, Crowley writes adult books and they help each other out with their writing. Until they have to pretend to be married. This was such a good read, I really couldn't put it down. It's almost exclusively narrated in Aziraphale's POV but the mutual pining is evident and the build up to them resolving their issues is so bittersweet and deep and just lovely. There is a happy ending, don't worry. And the side story will really... aargghh, I won't spoil it for you, just read it.

Lovely neighbours to lovers human AU. Crowley is instantly attracted to the new neighbour and his -oh, lord- forearms (and, I mean, who wouldn't?). But he's determined not to make things awkward, they are just friendly neighbours. That's why Aziraphale keeps knocking on his door for more of that caramel sauce Crowley makes so well. One of the tags in this fiction is: Aziraphale is bad at flirting. I very much beg to differ.

Hilarious crack fic! It is narrated in the form of a study by God, Almighty; Christ, Jesus; Spirit, Holy on whether Aziraphale and Crowley are displaying human-like courting behaviour during their meeting in 1793. I laughed from the first word to the last, including the notes!

Crowley Has A Volvo, by Savyl (Aerenii). Rated M, 2k.

This is the most hilarious crack fic you’ll ever read. I was howling with laughter to the point that my husband had to come from the other room to check that I was OK. Judging by some of the comments I wasn’t the only one. At some point I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see anything through the tears (of laughter). Trust me. Aziraphale and Crowley are aware that the humans can manipulate their lives and create adventures for them. It’s usually harmless, enjoyable, even. But this time the human writing their story has made an uncomfortable typo.

With no Armageddon to thwart, Crowley is getting bored. No matter what he does, he can't get Aziraphale to pay attention to him. Lovely story with a very sweet ending! Crowley's characterisation is spot on and very funny!

Oh, the sweetness of this fiction! Post canon (written after season 1, but might very well be set after whatever will happen in season 3), Crowley gives Aziraphale his phone to take pictures while on a day out in the South Downs. Aziraphale discovers Instagram. They are so adorable and in love, and will make you smile so much!

Prepare to guffaw with this seriously hilarious fic! Every line will make you laugh harder than the other! In-universe crack fic where Crowley's cock can't take it anymore and has a heart to heart (well, I say heart…) conversation with Crowley. They need to tell the angel how they feel! A gem!

He seeks the advice of his girlfriends, who unwittingly give him an idea on how to liven up his marriage. A fluffy and hopefully funny way to the South Downs cottage.

This was one of the highlights of my month, fiction-wise! Crowley is summoned by two humans to be offered in sacrifice. Aziraphale knocks on their door within, like, 3 minutes. I just loved this story: The light banter and the interactions between Crowley and Aziraphale are chef's kiss; the adorable domesticity of their relationship shines through in a situation that really is not domestic at all; Aziraphale is being his incredibly brilliant self; AND there's a little mystery-solving thrown in for good measure! Top marks!

A Nice And Accurate Teen Magazine Quiz by fellshish, rated T, 2.7k. P. Jan 25

Fellshish strikes again with this adorable and extremely funny piece in which Crowley takes credit for teen magazines in hell. Then he browses one of the magazines and takes the soulmate quiz. Then Crowley will be Crowley. I'm sure everyone this side of Tumblr has already read it, but if for some reason you haven't yet you're in for a treat!

Such a lovely and fluffy (and hot) slice of life in the future of our favourite Ineffables. This story is what awaits them on the other side of saving the world and we're all looking forward to for them.

This story is so full of fluff and humour, just the way I like them! The author in the story (who’s also the author of the story -the meta-author?) is trying to write a sweet scene between Aziraphale and Crowley, but keeps getting interrupted by a demon and an angel on her shoulders who have opinions on how the story (in the story) is going. It’s a treat!

Well Earned Rewards, by Aerenii. Rated M, 2k. P. Jul 25.

I am always in awe of the humour in this author’s stories and this one doesn’t disappoint! Post-canon, established relationship fic. Aziraphale asks Crowley to help get people to Nina’s coffee shop stand at a festival and promises rewards to motivate him. Challenge accepted, Crowley naturally behaves like a 4 year old (and we love him for that!). This fic is just so full of love: their interactions, their banter, their everything screams love! It’s the husbands at their husband-est!

Fantastic post season 1 fiction, full of teasing, pining and their typical obliviousness. Our Ineffables, finally free from heaven and hell, enjoy life in London between a trip to a secondhand bookshop and lunch at the pub. To escape a little situation they find themselves in, they take a holiday to Tadfield. Aziraphale wants to try sleeping. Crowley wants to steal a plant from RP Tyler. Everyone knows they are a couple except them. You know the drill. Humour, lighthearted feelings, love declarations. Lovely, lovely fiction!

The Least Eligible Bachelor, by fellshish. Rated E, 37k. P. May 26.

In-universe canon divergent/pre-armageddon fic, full of humour, longing and incredibly hot sex scenes. Aziraphale takes part in a reality TV show where he’s a bachelor who has to be wooed by the contestants. The contestants are, of course, demons. There will be roses, there will be bananas, there will be snakes, there will be love. This fic gave me early-canon vibes, which I was and still am yearning, and I’m grateful for them. As usual, this author has the beautiful ability to make you laugh and cry in the same sentence, and feel all the emotions in-between. Highly recommended!

Some members of Anathema’s family want to punish Aziraphale for refusing to restore Agnes’s book. The punishment is making him irresistibly attractive to anyone he comes across. I loved this story full of sweetness, great humour and spot on characterisation! It's a treat!

Fluff, fluff, fluff! Canon divergent fiction where Crowley is a demon stationed on earth, Aziraphale is an angel stationed on earth, but they have never met until present day. There's no end of the world in sight, only an angel and a demon falling in love and not knowing how to break it to the other that they're not human. I laughed all the way through.

Aziraphale’s Diaries by azzfell, fellshish. Total series words 10k. P. May 24.

This series is hilarious, warm and fluffy. So far there are four stories, all consisting in, yes you guessed it, Aziraphale’s diary entries. In the first story, Empirical study on the principles of snake care (rated T, 2k), Aziraphale suddenly realises he hasn’t paid enough attention to Crowley's snake-y needs. He decides he wants to make up for it. Hilarity ensues. Put your cup of tea down before day 6, trust me. In Experiments of an angel who has read entirely too much fanfic (rated T, 3k), Aziraphale discovers fanfiction shipping him and Crowley and decides he wants to test some of the tropes on the demon. Reading Crowley’s reactions through Aziraphale’s POV lens will make you feel warm inside. Drink down at day 10. In How to be a demon: a brief history of the Arrangement (rated T, 2k), Aziraphale recounts some of the temptations he’d had to do during the years, to honour the arrangement with Crowley. The last entry will make you melt. In Adventures of a mystery shopper in the bookshop (rated T, 3k), Aziraphale is worried that Crowley is getting bored, so he wants to help by giving him something to do. Peeps, for this one don’t even pick your drink up. You’ll end up spitting it all over your laptop/phone/tablet.

Dearly Departed, by attheborder. Rated T, 29k. P. Sep 19.

This post season 1 fiction was so much fun to read. Crowley gets discorporated in a hit and run. Aziraphale has to deal with the humans who witnessed the accident. Hastur is determined to make it impossible for Crowley to get a new body. Hilarious, heartwarming and light-hearted like only post season 1 fics can be, with incredibly well written side characters and, according to several members of the Good Omens fiction club discord server -me included- the most Aziraphalean BAMF Aziraphale you'll ever see. A real treat!

Wrong Turn by anticyclone, D20Owlbear. Rated Teen, 37K. P. Dec 20.

Honestly, I don't know why this fiction touched me so much. I just couldn't stop thinking about it for days after I finished it. It's a post season 1 fiction where Crowley suddenly finds himself in a parallel universe at the time the apocalypse is just about to happen. The Crowley and Aziraphale in that universe have a different history to our Crowley and Aziraphale. All our Crowley wants to do is to go back to his universe and his very own angel, but how? As you follow the main plot and focus on Crowley's thoughts and actions, you'll start slowly feeling the other story get hold of you, and it won't let go until the very end and beyond.

The Lines Between, by Ginger_Cat, rated M, 21k. P. Oct 23.

Set after season 1, but written after season 2, this is the first fiction I remember loving, and it dragged me into the fanfiction rabbit hole. I loved it so much! After Armageddon't, Crowley and Aziraphale try living a normal life, going on holiday and spending Christmas with friends. But is it enough? Tender, deep, with just the right amount of angst, and the sweetest happy ending.

One Miraculous December, by journeytogallifrey. Rated T, 187k. P. Dec 20.

One December, old memories seem to materialise and come into life whenever Crowley is with Aziraphale. One each day. Crowley worries that he’s subconsciously bringing memories to life and that Aziraphale will find out his true feelings for him. Lovely and sweet. I read this fic well before I started putting down my thoughts about the stories I read, so it’s difficult over a year later to put into words how much I loved it, but I did!

The Grindr Logo Doesn’t Even Have A ‘G’ In It, by indieninja92. Rated E, 79k. P. Aug 20.

After Armageddon’t, Aziraphale and Crowley settle into a life of amicable companionship. Aziraphale doesn’t let himself fantasise about being anything more than friends because that would only lead to heartbreak, right? So he decides to use Grindr to meet people he can have some fun with, no feeling involved. I love how confident and in control Aziraphale is in this fic. The story is a joy to read and has the sweetest ending.

How To Woo A Demon, by Bookwormgal. Rated T, 23k. P. Feb 20.

After Armageddon’t, Aziraphale decides he wants to move his and Crowley’s relationship to the next level. He just has to find a way to tell Crowley how he feels that can’t possibly be misinterpreted. So he does some research into Demon courting rituals. This fic is sweet and hilarious, and the characterisation is spot on. It’s another one of those stories I read a long time ago, and has stayed with me. I love it!

32 Questions That Lead To Love, by ffonippop. Rated E, 32k. P. Oct 23.

Written after season 2, but set after season 1. This fiction takes into account events shown in season 2’s minisodes, but in this universe the final fifteen never happened (and isn’t that a nice fantasy in itself?).

Crowley starts subtly and, um, nonchalantly asking Aziraphale questions from ‘32 questions to fall in love’. It doesn’t mean anything, right? Oh, I love this fic and the sense of the way things could have been.

Aaaahhh, one of those lovely, light, invaluable post season 1 fics that we all need from time to time, just to cheer us up! Refreshing! Aziraphale wants to get to know Crowley better after the failed apocalypse, so he invites him over and tries to make him feel comfortable. I loved this story so much! So in line with the canon vibes, so in character, so fun. Absolutely fantastic.

Delicate and tender post season 1 fic where our Ineffables open up to each other and Talk Feelings. It's what we all need.

Set after season one, this fiction is a sweet account of how Crowley and Aziraphale get to confess their feelings to each other. There are references to season two, but in this what-if universe it never happened.

One Conversation And Several Moments, by Angelica_Tree. Rated Teen, 3k. P. Sep 24.

This lovely fiction is set after season 1 and is not season 2 compliant. After the failed Armageddon, Aziraphale and Crowley are free to be themselves and to be together, but after spending 6000 years avoiding certain subjects, some conversation may be difficult to start. Or, in Crowley's case, difficult to take part in with ore than a monosyllable and a blink every couple of hours. Aziraphale is not deferred, of course. Sweet and funny in equal measure!

Proving One’s Loyalty, by indigovigilance , rated E, 4k. P. Jan 24.

Set towards the end of season 1, Aziraphale goes to heaven to speak with a higher authority only to find that Gabriel has taken Crowley prisoner. Aziraphale has to torture him in order to prove himself to heaven. Smut ensues. 

You Can't Un-See A Dog, by Dannye Chase (HolyCatsAndRabbits), HolyCatsAndRabbits. Rated T, 4k. P. Jan 20.

This was one of the highlights of my month, fiction-wise! Crowley is summoned by two humans to be offered in sacrifice. Aziraphale knocks on their door within, like, 3 minutes. I just loved this story: The light banter and the interactions between Crowley and Aziraphale are chef's kiss; the adorable domesticity of their relationship shines through in a situation that really is not domestic at all; Aziraphale is being his incredibly brilliant self; AND there's a little mystery-solving thrown in for good measure! Top marks! 

Plausible Deniability, by GayDemonDisaster (scrapheapchallenge), rated E, 5k. P. Dec 22.

This story was so, so lovely! Set before and after the first failed Armageddon and not season 2 complaint, but to me it really feels like it goes very well with my personal headcanon regarding season 2 in general and the final fifteen in particular: they do communicate and they don't need words. The story itself is about Aziraphale denying to himself that things are happening by pretending it's all a dream. The writer illustrates their deep connection and mutual understanding beautifully. 

One Night In Bangor (And The World Is Your Oyster), by Atalan. Rated E, 17k. P. Jul 19.

I think this needs no introduction, but just in case you are lucky enough to yet have to read it for the first time. Once every thousand years, heaven and hell share a corporate party. There is a wager going on at this particular party: can a demon tempt an angel into having sex with them? This fic is so hot, sensual, and at the same time sweet. The banter between Crowley and Aziraphale is perfect and so is their characterisation. However it’s set at some non specific point in time before Armageddon’t, and as such, don’t expect a happily ever after.

All The Pretty Girls (I Have Waited), by SpectrallyDistracted. Rated M, 8k. P. Dec 24.

I loved this human meet cute! Aziraphale works in a coffee shop where Crowley meets his dates. A different woman every week. If only he could work out why he's not taken by any of them! Very sweet story about falling in love and about self discovery. With the added bonus of the theme of found and chosen family in the background, to which I'm always partial.

My own The Solstice Dinner, with beautiful art by Hogs_and_ham. Rated E, 42k. P. Feb 26.

Written for the Winter Omens Big Bang and very (I mean, VERY) loosely based on the Gilmore Girls episode the Bracebridge Dinner, this is my first enemies to lovers human AU where sunny Aziraphale owns an Inn and grumpy Crowley owns a cafe. I had so much fun writing the banter and the humour in this story and I’m always proud when I manage to pull off an just-enough-of-a-bastard Aziraphale in an AU setting! Working with Hogs was a real treat and her art will take your breath away!

My own Rovaniemi Calling, with incredible art by Lutralutra. Rated M, 37k. P. Jul 26.

Written for the Winter Omens Reverse Mini Bang. I had so much fun working with Lutra on this meet cute/stranger to lovers human AU set mainly in Rovaniemi. Aziraphale and Crowley meet on a plane, but after his holiday, Aziraphale will have to go back to London. Banter, fluff, a little bit of angst and a happy ending. I really hope I managed to do Rovaniemi justice, even though I’ve never been there! I absolutely want to go and visit it now, and hopefully so will you!

My own For Old Times’ Sake, rated T, 4k. P. Apr 26.

This fiction is so so dear to me. I love it more than I can say, even though it’s not my usual piece of banter. Human AU in which Aziraphale and Crowley have known each other… Well, sorry, but they really have known each other for a long time, but their lives went in different directions. Can they get back together after twenty-five years? My dear friend said that the fic is safe for the under-40s, but the over-40s should enter at their own risk and I agree: this fic is my love letter to middle age and I’m extremely proud of it.

Courage (A Reverse Trope Story), by SpectrallyDistracted. Rated E, 30k. P. May 25.

This funny, deep, fluffy enemies to lovers human AU made me feel all the feels and ended safely on warm and fuzzy. Crowley and Aziraphale despise each other, but find themselves accompanying Maggie and Nina on holiday out of loyalty. It’s going to be a long week. Romantic and sexy, the fic explores the many ways courage can manifest, from the courage to recognise your mistakes to the courage to let yourself be vulnerable (and everything in between). Superfluffy ending.

My own fiction, Deluded, rated M, 27k. P. Apr 25.

Human AU rated M for Misunderstandings and Miscommunication (yeah, ok, and mature). Crowley agrees to go on a blind date with Aziraphale, but he doesn't really do dates. He tells as much to Aziraphale and leav... lea... leeeeeeavmmm... All right, stays, OK? I started off lighthearted, added a pinch of angst, skipped the smut, clumsily attempted some humour, and landed safely on fluff. These are literally the five themes of the five chapters.

There Was Never A Dream To Compare, by On1OccasionFork. Rated T, 3k. P, May 25.

A Sequel to Our Homeward Steps Were Just As Light, this fic touched me just as deeply. It’s no secret that I’m partial to young master Warlock, and this fic is narrated in his POV, although in a human AU version of our Ineffables. This story is tender and delicate, it exudes love in all its different forms and it just makes you want to hold on to things. And to people. And I’m not crying, YOU ARE! But dry away those tears, this story has a happy ending!

Married At First Sight, by Aracloptia. Rated T, 146k. P. Dec 23.

A new classic! I doubt anyone reading these lists might have missed this fic, but let me tell you how much I loved it anyway! As the title suggests, Aziraphale and Crowley take part in the reality Married At First Sight. It's hate at first sight for our two heroes, unfortunately, but the slow burn that follows must be one of the sweetest things I've read in fiction. Crowley and Aziraphale both come a long way to understand each other and let their guard down, and the whole process is just marvelous to witness. And, no, I've never watched a single episode of the show Married At First Sight either, you really don't need to on order to enjoy this fabulous fiction. Lovely array of side characters to top it all!

One Perfect Day by PirateFanatic. Rated T, 4k. P. Oct 23.

Canon universe story where Crowley and Aziraphale are safe. In fact, they are about to go to a wedding. As Aziraphale dresses up, Crowley moans that he doesn't want to go, but Aziraphale doesn't give him a choice. And, in the words of the writer, with good reason.

Mmm, Ok, right, yeah. I know. The large majority of what I read is low to no angst, I know. Which doesn't necessarily mean without tension or conflict, by the way. Oh, I truly can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this story! It made me feel all fuzzy inside! So heartwarming, angst-free, sweet and just joyful! Friends to lovers human AU that will touch your soul and heart. The love between Aziraphale and Crowley seeps through every single line of this fic as they pretend-date as an experiment to understand why everyone Crowley dates falls in love with him.

This is a compelling meet-cute human AU that will have you hooked from the first line! Fantastic humour, Aziraphale has a bit of his bastardry on display and Crowley is instantly smitten, what more can you ask for? Credible and funny side characters, you say? Well, good because this fiction has got those too! All the warm feelings, highly recommend it!

Lighthearted meet-cute human AU, full of banter, chaos and bickerflirting. Aziraphale takes it as a personal offence that the gorgeous red haired man who’s walking towards him is not, in fact, his date Tom.

Guardian Angel: The Hot Line, by ItsScottiesStark. Rated T, 10k. P. May 25.

The vibes of this story are exactly what I’m after when reading fanfiction. That warm, cosy feeling that you’re cared for, that nothing bad can happen to you while you’re lost in the fic, that someone will wrap you up in a warm blanket and your hot chocolate will never get cold. Strangers to lovers human AU where Crowley wants to prank the operator of a sex line, but ends up calling a help line for queer people. No angst, all smiles and warm fuzzies. No fear, only happiness. I loved this so, so much!

All Bentleys, Great And Small, by joyAndOtherStories. Rated G, 1,2k. P. May 21.

This human AU will put a huge smile on your face! Fluffy, adorable, heartwarming: I just want to hug this fic! Aziraphale is the owner of a pet supplies shop; Crowley finds a puppy and is in need of help and advice. I highly recommend it!

The writer does a wonderful job of taking the readers on a journey to Persia alongside Aziraphale, describing the atmospheres and landscapes of the city of Nishapur vividly and beautifully. I loved witnessing the relationship between them blossom; the story was tender and hot at the same time. But what will happen when aziraphale has to travel back to London?

There's No Algorithm For The Ineffable, by Thinkinginscripts. Rated T, 12k. P. Sep 24.

Aziraphale runs a matchmaking agency for queer professionals, and he's very successful at his job. Crowley has come to accept that he might need help to find a lifelong partner; unfortunately there seems to be something quite wrong with all three candidates Aziraphale introduces him to. Zero angst, this fic is heartwarming and adorable. 

Growing On Me, by Hermiola. Rated M, 120k. P. Jan 25.

I subscribed to this fic when it first came out and had been wanting to read it since then.

I'm SO glad I finally got to it! (Thank you Good Omens Fic Club on Discord!)

I loved it. 

Enemies to lovers, forced proximity human AU. Crowley is a rockstar in need of a lyricist. Enter erotica writer Aziraphale.

The humour throughout the story was a treat and more than once I got looks from my fellow commuters because I was giggling or snorting laughter. 

Crowley and Aziraphale's slow journey into introspection was very sweet to witness. 

I'm always partial to fictions that feature the Them and Warlock, and their characterisation here was spot on and really entertaining; I will love Hermiola's Warlock for life! 

This story was captivating, entertaining, sexy, incredibly funny, and made me want to read more whenever I had to put it down. Virtually no angst. A new classic!

To Catch A Ghost, by anatomicgirl. Rated T, 17k. P. Feb 25.

Such an intriguing ghost story! Spooky and sweet in equal measure. Human AU in which friends Aziraphale and Crowley are vloggers dealing with paranormal phenomena. On their way to Tadfield they find themselves stuck alone in a cottage belonging to an old lady and her niece. Even skeptic Crowley has to eventually concede that the cottage is haunted. Obliviousness in action, this fic was lovely!

Friends Don't, by MissUnderstoodLyrics. Rated E, 33k. P. Dec 24.

Honestly, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this story. In my comment on the last chapter I said that it was like an unexpected day off at work: precious, exciting, comfortable, you know it will be over all too soon but it’s one of those gifts that make life happier. In this enemies (meh!) to friends (ha!) to lovers (yay!) Crowley and Aziraphale work as advice columnists for two rival newspapers in Tadfield. The newspapers are bought by the same media company and our two heroes find themselves co-hosting a podcast. How will they cope? Oh, they’ll cope very well indeed, let me tell you. This fiction is uplifting and funny, the banter is clever without ever feeling like they are overdoing it, and the Ineffables react to their feelings in an insecure, fragile, but all too relatable -and fairly realistic- way. It never feels like the writer is pushing it. It became instantly one of my all time favourites.

Human AU. Crowley has recently moved to a new flat and he receives postcards meant for the previous owner.

Ghostrat managed to tell us the building of a lovely bond only through short messages.

I love Crowley's quiet and relatable vulnerability in this story, and I absolutely love Aziraphale’s mask of confidence shining through Crowley's POV.

The gentle jokes, teasing and feelings: all felt very well balanced, but not less emotional because of it. A classic.

Caramel Delight, by AJ_Constantine, rated E, 16k. P .Aug 23.

Lovely neighbours to lovers human AU. Crowley is instantly attracted to the new neighbour and his -oh, lord- forearms (and, I mean, who wouldn't?). But he's determined not to make things awkward, they are just friendly neighbours. That's why Aziraphale keeps knocking on his door for more of that caramel sauce Crowley makes so well. One of the tags in this fiction is: Aziraphale is bad at flirting. I very much beg to differ.
