I just realized none of these previous Jacks have had a color drawing but really only one I had a vision of one of them looking SUPER different and it’s this fella’! So I made a quick sketch thingy!!

There are many jobs that aren’t ideal, but someone has to do them, that’s how society works. 

Of course, this includes your job as a dispatcher. There’s always a possibility that you send out the wrong people to a crisis or you’re too late to help. It’s a worry you’ve come to accept.

But when the alternates appeared, your job became a nightmare.

Sending out first responders felt like a blessing, because if some poor soul called you, begging to stop the thing from getting them…you could only say the following. 

“I understand, the authorities will be there shortly, just stay calm and on the line.” 

R and R. Reassure and Repeat. Do not waver in your tone, do not deviate, do not let them know that it’s already too late. 

You tried, you really did, but there was that godforsaken call.

“Hello this is 911 how may I help you?” You answered with practiced professionalism. 

“Hi…can you help my mommy?” A child. A little girl maybe? She was whispering.

“What’s wrong with mommy?” You asked.

“She’s not talking to daddy anymore.” The girl said. “She said she’d take care of him but she’s not moving anymore.”

“Is mommy hurt?”

“I…I don’t know…can you help my mommy? She’s supposed to stop daddy.” 

“I can try but I need to know what you saw.” You stressed lightly. 

“I saw mommy talking to daddy. She talked to him a lot, like a loud lion, but I don’t think he was my dad.” 

“…Why is that?” You cautiously followed up.

“He only spoke from the computer mommy had. He said he’s coming to see us again! But he can’t do that if mommy’s not awake!” The girl had spoken a little over a whisper.

“Why are you whispering?” 

“Because he’s here, and I don’t want him to see mommy yet. So get here!”

You stared ahead, trying to ground yourself. Breathe. You silently sunk in your chair a little before saying the same phrase. 

You were used to these cases, but not like this, not with the child still there. 

And it took hours. Hours that you could barely get through. For the first time your voice wavered that day. 

Maybe it was time to retire, but could you live on knowing the souls you let down will never have found true help? 

The thoughts haunted you.

The thoughts lingered, festered, and you could only distract yourself by hanging out with your friend Shaun. His cat Moonpie brought you temporary comfort, and the companionship made you feel better. 

Well, until you realized you weren’t just leaving a trail of cat fur in your wake. 

The news hit you when you clocked in. 

You made the decision to take care of Moonpie from now on. She didn’t eat as much as she used to, and neither did you. 

Your coworkers also seemed to be having their own issues. Most have quit. Even your favorite; Joseph. Before this epidemic you both were as thick as thieves, then after this started…one phone call seemed to have him packing his bags.

“I’m not signing up for an early death, and I suggest you do the same.” 

You didn’t bother staying in contact, since it could risk his health.

You kept working though. You had to. 

You take a call, like always. 

“Hello this is 911–“

“̵̱͙͎̘͓͐ͅF̷̻͙͔̹̑̔̅̋ō̸̝̗̞̈̽͑u̵͓̍͋͘n̶̥̼͍͓͗̉̈́d̸͎̅̀͋ ̴̰̍́̏́͆̒ỳ̶̮̝̐́̾o̸̧̗̱͛̏̈̉̋u̶̬̜̱̔̈́!̵̺̠̒̌͐̓̉̐”̶̛̺͔̊͌̿

You blink and suddenly, you’re in the hospital.

The nurse that comes in looks at you in pity, as if you would’ve found a better fate staying locked away in your mind. You call her Ms. Nurse, and she doesn’t correct you.

There’s no reason to get attached to someone who’s infected, you knew that. You could tell she tried to reassure you.

“It’s a miracle authorities were able to save a few of you. That was the worst alternate attack I’ve ever seen. You’re the only one who didn’t succumb to the MAD disease.”

“Uh your cat right? She’s…she’s with uh.., that Joseph guy? He’s looking over her since…no one else can.”

“You’re improving, better than the rest, maybe they’ll consider letting you out.”

“….I have pictures of Moonpie if you’d like.”

Temporary moments of normalcy.

One day you were seen by a different nurse. You had nothing but the company of hallway gossip now.

“I heard her neighbor passed, poor girl, she really can’t win huh?”

“I’ll say, I heard that was her crush. I can understand why she can’t under these conditions anymore though.”

“You think she’ll be admitted to a different hospital?”

“No, I heard she’s going into retail.”

“Maybe we should visit her soon…also don’t you think you should check up on your patients?”

“Right right.”

Guess even you weren’t the only one who’s having it rough. You wished that nurse well.

Meanwhile, you were still in purgatory. You did learn however that Joseph was still there, he left you letters and small gifts like chocolate. It kept you from drifting. Maybe after all of this blows over you two can meet up again like old times.

Joseph seemed up to it from what you read in those letters.

Finally when you were deemed stable you got a taxi to Joseph’s home. It was far away, dark, and quiet. You figured it was late. By the time you got closer, you could hear Moonpie’s meows. You smiled as you went inside—he told you where the spare key was in a letter—and greeted with darkness.

“Sunshine you made it!” You could hear Joseph far away in the dark. A wave of relief crashed over you as you stepped in.

“Trying to conserve your light bill?” You teased.

“…You could say that.” He replied. “Hey, can you come closer please? I can’t hear you that well.”

“Aren’t hosts supposed to greet their guests at the door?” You replied. You tried a light switch but nothing lit up. You did thankfully find a flashlight however.

“I’ll greet you back here then to make up for it Sunshine!” The closer you got the more dread entered your core. You paused. 

You don’t hear Moonpie.

“Anytime now! I wouldn’t want your first day for you to be standing there tired.” 

“…Where’s Moonpie?” You asked.

“With me.” You heard Moonpie’s meow right after.

“…and…where are you…” You uttered

“I’m right here…” he chuckled but it sounded…wrong. You flashed your light at the door once….something slinked to the side.

You backed up.

“What’s wrong Sunshine?” He…the thing asked.

“…You’re not….” You shakily pointed your flashlight up again. It was taller than the door frame, and it smiled at you. It smiled with a face you remembered. 

“̶͉͊C̵̛͎ó̷̰m̵̭̆e̷͍͒ ̶̝̋h̸̡̃ȅ̴̝r̶͔̉ë̶̲ ̵͍͌S̵̟͑ụ̷̂n̸͔͑s̴̖̈ẖ̷͠ị̵̔ỉ̵̺i̴͇̇i̵͓̿į̷͂i̵̢̕ï̵͜ḯ̸̡i̸̹̓ì̷͎ņ̵́e̷̮͌…̷̄͜”̴̪̔

You run, scramble to hide. It was tailing you. Too fast, too heavy, too much. Like a large spider thumping around searching. You hid behind the kitchen counter.

“S̸̛̗u̷̥͊n̵̖̓s̷͔̽h̶̠̏i̷͕͆n̷̙̿e̶͙͒ë̸̹́e̴̺̾e̵̟͌…you don’t need to run…I won’t hurt you…” it cooed with a voice that sounded like it was mimicking Joseph. “I just need to tell you…s̴͔̅ô̶͕m̵̧̚e̸͖̅t̴̙̓h̴͉́ȉ̵̘n̸̑͜g̶͚͆.” 

You curled up as the steps neared you.

“̷̢͘C̶̒͜o̷̜͗m̵̱͘ẻ̵̡ ̵͉̏o̴̱͌ṉ̸̓ ̸̯̓o̷͕͐ü̷͉t̶̰̏ ̷̎ͅS̶̲̑u̵͈̇n̴̟͆s̷̳̈́ḣ̴͈í̷͔n̴̲̑ę̷̆.̸̲̐”̷̞̈́

The steps didn’t go any further.

“On the count of t̵͖͐h̴̪́r̴̫̔e̴͔̽e̸͝ͅ?̵̺̽”̸̥́

A gaggle of mishmashed chortles, or whatever you could discern, echoed around you. 

“One…t̶͔̊w̶͉͝o̷͖͛…….” 

It shuffled closer. 

Then silence. 

Silence that stretched far beyond your comfort level. You looked around the corner…nothing. You crawled out, nearly falling back down, you forgot how to breathe. Was it even safe to do so? 

You finally turned the flashlight back on. 

“̷̛̤T̶͍̈́h̷̊͜ṛ̶̑ȅ̵̳ę̸́!̴̥͒”̶̡͂.

.

Being let back into society was supposed to be your moment to free yourself from fearing the alternates every day.

And now?

You go out, you work at the local store as a security guard.

And when you go home.

“̶̙͝S̶̭̅ú̵͙n̸̮̑s̶̪̃ḩ̵̋i̷̞̓i̴̳͒i̵̤̍i̴̩͊ǹ̷̢ë̸̲́!̴̢̒”̸̦̄

There’s a meal there, made by Joseph.

Or, whatever has replaced him.

You didn’t die, but you could never return to that normal life you sought so desperately.

Because this imposter, this intruder, has decided to keep you around.

“M̴͔͛y̶͕͋ ̴̗̿Ŝ̶͓u̷̟̒n̸̲̿s̷̨͐h̸̜̃i̶̫̒n̷̘̍é̴̱…̶̡̇”

To not confuse yourself, you called him Jack. He never spoke much, just staying slightly out of view. You’d feel his hugs and affectionate pats though. So warm, and so delicate, worried that you’ll succumb to madness. The less you tried to make sense of why he’s there the better you felt overall. Pretty quickly you noticed Jack just wanted to love you. And you…well…

It was either doom or defeat, and you’d like to at least outlive this apocalyptic nightmare. So yes, you decided to stay there. What could you do? You know the level of fear has built up in your system clings with delectable fervor. If you ran from it another would take his place.

So you enjoy the meal, speak to that Jack as he smiles with far too many teeth in the wrong places…yet all are gleaming white. You don’t ask him where Joseph is anymore, nor do you dim the lights to ignore Jack’s face shifting. You tell him your day as you eat. He merely watches. He then makes sure not a speck of dust or crumbs linger as you retreat for the night. And he stays there, by the foot of the bed, watching. You wonder if he needs sleep, you hope he does, but you know better.

But today, you pat part of the bed next to you. His eyes “looked” at you. You nodded. His form crept onto the bed, you could feel it dip lower and lower, and you could see how giddy he appeared. You leaned on him and closed your eyes. Despite the lack of vision you could feel his lips land on your forehead as arms wrapped around you.

As much as it terrified you, you kinda knew you wanted him to stay as much as he wanted to be there.

And you figured he knew it too.

uh….I dunno how many people noticed because it was a decision made at nightfall…but uh

Ian counts as a monster in his own way…he’s lucky no one in this lineup gets him…

But uh yeah! I’ll look over a few of them and see which ones I’ll post on here (it’s probably going to be the last few. I like those the most)

The most ambitious mass attack that literally took me forever. It got me like +700 points too, and it’s based on the song Hello by Capsule. Very simple song and it inspired me to draw this. I swear every year my mass attacks have a bit of a theme of some sort. Also, I unintentionally kinda made it the all smiles vs all neutrals—and not all the smiling ocs are very nice—but it’s kinda funny how that turned out!

Also it was amusing because most of these artists I kinda know! I wanted to include as many mutuals as I could in every mass attack!

I’ve written about them extensively AHAHAAHA—) but I made the comic because in canon…no one believes Reiji (glasses boy) that he has a girlfriend. In no universe, no AU, do people believe him.

I was very determined to attack more mutuals, and I figured why not in comic form? Tbh it’s not drawn here but after getting caught she personally decided to give the clothes back, she wasn’t ordered to. Also, realistically Loki’s jacket was probably the only thing she could’ve worn 😭 if only she was discreet enough…(then again, knowing that wolffish man, he would’ve felt a disturbance in the air regardless cause she gets on his nerves that much. It’s a miracle she didn’t get killed)

Oh uh, also wow it took me forever to really color in those guys officially, I guess I should note I drew the heights incorrectly, it should be go 5”8 (173cm), 5”6 (168cm), and 5”3 (160cm)! Oh and yeah it’s kinda funny because their outfits are totally the opposite vibes, but it’s closer to the truth personality-wise.

Yknow her friends are real troopers cause without them Ms. Nurse wouldn’t have done what she did. I mean she had to throw them off her trail SOMEHOW to get to the forest and find the truth…

Speaking of, yknow I really wanted to have a visual it in the story of them post-forest exploration…I didn’t have time back then…but I did today

Yknow between their whole reason for going into the forest and after that, there’s still a lot of unanswered questions. When Ms. Nurse went home early and fell asleep, what was happening at school? Between Jack and Rory, who was telling the truth of what happened to Bee? Also, how did Bee even get there in the first place?!

And more importantly; how much did Jack know about everything and how did he tank it?

They were things I purposely left blank because I wanted to show how limited Ms. Nurse and her crew’s perspective was. So much happened behind the scenes all the time that only crumbs of the aftermath were left.

Does that mean no one will ever know what happened?

…Nah, I’m willing to give up some information.

But the short answer is a lot of what Jack said was truthful…but not saying the full truth. As sweet and caring as Jack comes off as we all know that he could definitely do more than he lets on.

Bee was definitely put into a threatening situation with warnings about his mistreatment towards Ms. Nurse, and since Bee clearly disregarded it, Jack was past his breaking point. If anything, it’s a blessing he couldn’t get his hands on Bee fully. 😭 The entire town actually…whole house mad!!! Jack did get a chance to hit Bee upside the head with a little one two piece combo (maybe I’ll write it out one day…but I haven’t written fights in soooo long)

But yeah Jack basically was just…watching her whenever he wasn’t in view. He may not have been stalking but again the whole town was in on it, he just asked the kids and others to “let me know how our lovely nurse is doing!”. Though I guess it’s kinda obvious.

BUT the closer they got and the more Ms. Nurse wanted to keep him around the more he could see into her head. Magic mumbo jumbo because I think that’s a scary way taking “love connects the soul” literally. He didn’t know the specifics but whenever she felt compelled to break things off he knew something was wrong and adjusted accordingly. So yeah, he let her have her fun until it got too real and he was getting desperate to keep her there.

Such a terrifying man indeed, if it wasn’t for her friends and would’ve been married to him after only a few months 😵‍💫 he was truly so confident that he wouldn’t have any trouble with it either.

Honestly after playing Animal Hospital a bunch I realized I could TRY and recreate Ms. Nurse on roblox

It was too difficult to find anything else but this was my best attempt! (We are going to ignore that mini Jack…shhhh…)

It’s now in my roster of outfits! (I don’t have many…I like to keep it pretty simple tbh, I actually had to get help to recreate my persona’s outfit but the rest I figured out)

Y’know after enjoying summer (kinda) I had a thought: what would College! Jack and Joseph be doing at this point? Summer classes? Maybe some lounging around?

Then…a thought struck me! They’d have jobs! They need to financially support themselves during those few months!!!

AS LIFEGUARDS!!

Tbh I was gonna make this a chapter for the oneshot buuuut I’m tireddd so I’ll just bullet point the idea I had…

(small warning for drowning but nothing crazy)

Somehow, they are allowed to not wear shirts, but if it’s chilly they’ll wear tank tops…sometimes if the other lifeguards get upset they’ll even put on shirts…it doesn’t help their perpetual cleavage unfortunately.

Honestly Jack immediately got the job while Joseph was a bouncer, but then Jack got stressed about Joseph being injured so he moved to being a lifeguard too

And uh…actually…Jack? He was uh….not really good at it. The kids just called McBeefcake and Gramps. (This did a number on him)

Luckily Joseph’s tattoos made him the “scary” one and children feared him. He didn’t even have to yell, they’d just cut it out when it was his shift. It…did bum him out a little bit 😭 poor guy really wasn’t that bad but hey whatever cuts him a good check.

So instead of being the main guard Jack focused on testing people on their swimming and giving them their appropriate wrist bands for swimming. (Red for shallow only, yellow for semi-deep, and green means you can even go to the deep end pools!) but if anyone wants to try to get to the green wrist bands he is also the instructor for learning how to swim!

So uh, how does the MC fit into this?

Uh, bad news, you and your friends are checking out this pool for a pool party and take the swim test…and you end up failing way worse than expected…resulting in a red band 😭 YIKES! Those are usually for kids who take the test!

Jack feels bad and offers his classes

”It’s only for a few weeks but you should be able to get a yellow band in that time!”

Surprisingly he’s a lovely instructor! It can be a bit distracting when he’s getting you to float. Holding your back to steady you…and you’re hoping he can’t hear your heart beating out of your chest.

You also run into Joseph, mainly because your friends stupidly get in trouble running around the edge. But you learn pretty quickly that he’s not actually mean, it’s the sunglasses and tattoos.

At least Joseph keeps an eye on you while you practice alone. He gives a few pointers.

“I know it’s easy to panic but learn to move your limbs in a rhythm…would you like me to show you?”

Eventually they’re both involve in helping you out! How nice!

They're also not very fond of your friends. We’re all grown adults yet they seem to be pushing the rules very often. Not a good look…

“I don’t know Sunshine, I don’t want to be nosy but Joseph has been telling me that your friends keep wrecking the bathrooms and running into the children…could you please tell them to stop?”

“I’m going to issue a ban on those so called jokers if another kid goes flying into the pool.”

You…have deeply apologized for your “friends”. Man, 20 year old college students can be so heartless…

Surely with enough practice though you’re able to swim!! And pretty decently!!

Only enough for a yellow band though. Which, most of the party was to take place in the middle zone while the deep end was for diving.

Joseph happily showed you where you could swim at.

“I’ll be keeping an eye on you…for your safety I mean.” (sure buddy, sure)

Jack was just around working the concession stand (granted a crowd did form to just talk to him. He’s popular even when he’s just explaining that a cheeseburger comes with cheese)

Even Joseph had his fair share with others grabbing his attention for better or worse…mostly worse.

However, you drifted a little further than you needed to, and as you swam back to safety your friends wanted you to try diving!

…Unfortunately peer pressure does wonders and you go for it.

It wasn’t bad thankfully but you were frantically trying to swim out of the 12ft (3.7 m) waters

But some jerkwad had the STELLAR idea to drag you to the bottom the moment you got to the top and didn’t take a proper breath.

In an instant you!! Forgot everything and flailed like crazy..and uh, at no point did anyone in the pool notice you under there..you really regretted not trusting Jack and Joseph

In your final moments…you could barely notice anything but water…

….Although soon you awoke coughing and hacking up water. God. You really drowned. Like, seriously.

Both Jack and Joseph were immediately hugging you. Your chest hurt…a lot, you weren’t sure who saved you but you were grateful for their help

The party is effectively over, not to mention if it was Jack and Joseph kicked out everyone.

Everyone…except you!

Everyone blamed you for the “the fun ending” and after a bit of a scuffle with Joseph and the guy who pulled you under…safe to say you’ve lost all your friends..but you gained two new ones!

You end up crashing at their place because uh, those friends were your ride back.

“You need anything Sunshine? We have plenty of food and water! Oh and..I guess you can borrow our clothes, we don’t mind! In sure you must be cold in that swimwear…so better warm up!”

“Take the couch? No, you don’t have to do that, you can take Jack’s bed. What kind of host would we be if we didn’t give you the comfiest room? One of us can sleep on the couch or share a bed…unless you need someone to sleep next to.”

Quite the night! You awoke to breakfast and two lovely men checking in and insisting you rest and not check your phone.

Considering what happened you took their advice…besides they’ve never lied to you?

Eventually you have to part way, not without exchanging contacts first!

Surely you figured at most these two could be a potential summer fling…well, until you ended up hanging out with them after their shifts almost daily. You didn’t have anything else to do in all fairness.

You still learned to swim better too, just to avoid that happening again…but it took a LOT of convincing.

“Joseph and I will be right here Sunshine. If you panic we’ll get you out of the pool, no one is going to pull you under without you knowing okay? You can trust us.”

In the end, you did eventually get comfortable with swimming, and even reaching green!

…Also, yeah, you caught feelings, and they have noticed. It won’t be long before you get your little fling…it just comes with the catch that they’re not letting you out of their sight.

Even when college starts back up, they’re always going to be there…whether you like it or not.
