I'm a new-to-digital artist and frankly need some tips😅 my problem is I have no idea how paint or get brushes that feel similar to paper. I also dont know how you get your lines SO smooth, even with a stabilizer. Any tips?

Heya!

The first things is, it's not gonna feel similar to paper. I am sorry to tell you this. BUT it's gonna become easier when you keep drawing. Your brain just needs to connect few wires cause you're learning a whole new art medium.

The second thing is, my tips are really dependent on what program you are using and what tablet. Yea, I know, sucks.

But here's some universal things: Layers are your best friend. Every program that is an art program, has layers and learning to use them in a way that is the most comfortable to you is the key. Play around with the blending modes and the opacity

It's easy to start to look up tutorials and copy them but there is a danger that the artist uses these modes in a way that you don't like and then it makes you feel like "you aren't good enough" or "are making art wrong" because you don't want to do it like they do. Just play around with them first.

Basic brushes in many programs are great but it's also super fun to download brushes! Try all the basic ones tho first. You might find ones you want to keep around. I love brushes like "mapping pen" on Clip Studio Paint and it's a basic brush

Learning how to use line weight is a big thing but it's one of those "comes with time" thing, too.

Lastly, the smooth lines? Clip Studio Paint. Everyone in our friend group switched to it and our first reaction was "holy shit, lineart is so much easier to do??". I use it on my tablet, too. I have no experience with Procreate, for example so dunno how making lineart is on that.

With digital art, a lot of people use the tools to color, change line weigh etc etc. I just....draw. I use some tools so fill in the base color but them just free hand things. It's how I like it. I get frustrated with all the lasso tricks or everything lol. Many people like them, tho.

Again, its all about how you like to do things. No need to put yourself into a mold, just do you. Even if it's not "efficient"

In short, draw patiently. It's gonna suck at first when you know you can do better but your hand is just farting around, not knowing how to do anything. It's passes, no worries!

Talking to a man who is a spitting image of the men you were compared to your whole life, which then left you feeling like you didn't belong and were weaker and less than everyone else?

Huh. Well, uhhh

Hmm I think Heavy's father's counter-revolutionary life meant it took over most of the whole family's life. I bet they all loved each other very much but also were separated a lot. Heavy must've looked up to his dad as a "fighter" and a protector of their family and their nation.

So, like even if in the end Heavy did not know much about who his dad was as a person, he definitely was a hero and pretty much indestructible in Heavy's eyes. I also bet his dad said a lot of those clichés like "keep the family safe while I'm away" etc and Heavy took those seriously.

His death and "failure" to succeed in his fight hit hard. Heavy had to step up and protect his family while trying to understand how HIS FATHER, the man who was able to do so much and survive for so long, ended up dead. Heavy lives in fear of that if he'd fail at his job, his loved ones (now Medic and rest of the team) would have to suffer for it in the same way Heavy's family had.

This being said, I think that when Heavy gets older, he starts understanding that his dad was just a man after all. I mean, doing the fighting and protecting himself, he can now put himself into his father's shoes and see his humanity that he was not able to see as a kid.
