i think all of modern suburbia is purely designed to make people fear anything related to outside. the very clear separation between outside and inside activities. outside is dirty . you must clean your outside regularly by cutting lawn and pulling weeds. something growing is only okay if you planted it. its really insidious and it intertwines with lots of other stuff. it promotes sexist division of labor . and obviously terrible for the environment
