You guys sometimes take care of Unown right?
Are there any differences between baby/freshly hatched unowns and adults? (I.e the ‘tendrils’ being relatively smaller compared to the middle than ones in adults) also, do you ever swaddle them?
"sometimes" is very generous. i've had the, uh, delight of handling them a handful of times in my entire career, most of which were because of research. they're very strange little pokemon and can be a bit unsettling if you've never seen them before.
unown actually don't reproduce as far as we know. we've never managed to successfully induce any kind of breeding behavior, and to be honest putting two or more unown together tends to result in weird things happening. we generally try to avoid it when possible unless we're specifically researching their interactions. as for where unown come from...no idea. the leading theory devised by scholars from johto and sinnoh is that they either reproduce asexually (in which case the different forms of unown come from chance mutations) or they're extradimensional. given how strange they are and the weird powers they get when they're together, i lean more towards the latter right now!
