various "if i had a nickel for every time [x] happened i'd have two nickels" for stuff i've played/seen (will be updated every time i get a nickel):
• if i had a nickel for every time a dude has been sent to space by andy wier and it got made from a book into a movie i'd have two nickels (project hail mary, the martian)
• if i had a nickel for every time a fake couple's counseling session has taken place with two dudes who are clearly supposed to be straight despite the consistent gay jokes (22 jump street, falcon and the winter soldier)
• if i had a nickel for every time an iconic scifi movie has been set on a planet fully made of just some sand and bullshit ginormous creatures i'd have two nickels (dune, star wars) (this may not count since one of them was inspired by the other (i can't remember which oh my god))
• if i had a nickel for every time there have been two detectives/idk man, people in detective adjacent roles? and one of them just does some crazy odd hippie shit and the other just follows him around i'd have 3 nickels (twin peaks, disco elysium, and a movie that i love dearly even though i can't remember the goddamn name of it right now. i'll get back to you ☹️)
• if i had a nickel for every time one of edward norton's characters had something symbolic going on with the mona lisa and also got smacked around a bit i'd have two nickels (knives out: glass onion, fight club)
